What’s New
What’s New
Version 2.2.02
These topics describe the new features and enhancements added in this version of
PATROL for Veritas Cluster Server by OTL Software.
Enhanced KM Monitoring Failover
The remote PATROL Agent monitoring status checking can be disabled, if required. Then
the failover follows the master cluster node or the online status of the cluster group
associated with Veritas Cluster Server.
The VCS KM can be installed on few nodes of the cluster and can be configured to
monitor the cluster and failover within those nodes using remote PATROL Agent
communication.
When the VCSMonitoringMode changes a detail annotation is added to the data point
describing the reason for the change.
Enhanced Daemon Monitoring
Daemon monitoring is modified to support multiple processes when calculating memory
size, CPU time and overall state.
Compatible with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management v2.8
The BMC Portal integration is rebuilt using the latest SDK for Portal v2.8 and threshold
settings are more appropriately configured.
Support for BMC Installation Utility
Additional installation files are included in the download to support Installation Utility.
Trial License Status
The free 30-day trial license for the VCS KM is loaded automatically, and the number of
trial days left is displayed in the main container instance label.

What’s Changed
What’s Changed
Version 2.2.02
These topics describe the changes included in this version of PATROL for Veritas Cluster
Server by OTL Software.
Enhanced Node Status
VCSNodeStatus parameter monitors cluster state, cluster read only mode and wide area
connector state in addition to all critical VCS daemons.
Enhanced Status Events
All events triggered by the VCS KM status parameters are changed to include the state
information.
Changeable to KM Paths
VCS KM temporary paths (KM_TEMP & KM_DEBUG) can be changed using the menu
Configuration => Paths.
Log files created by VCS KM scripts are retained and maintained under KM_TEMP for
diagnostics.
Passive nodes will not keep objects created when active
When a node changes to passive mode all objects (service groups, resources, agents &
systems) created when it was active, are removed from the console by default. This
behavior can be changed to keep by issuing following PSL through PATROL Console:
%PSL pconfig(“REPLACE”, “/VCS/DestroyInstances”, false);
More efficient VCS Agent data collection
VCS Agent data collection uses a detail listing command which reduces the number of
commands executed by the data collector, resulting in improved processing and
performance.
Updated Documentation
The User Guide is updated to reflect all the above changes and new features.
Version 2.2.01
There are no changes included in version 2.2.01of PATROL for Veritas Cluster Server by
OTL Software.

Known Issues and Workarounds
Version 2.2.00
These topics describe the changes included in version 2.2.00 of PATROL for Veritas
Cluster Server by OTL Software.
More efficient Service Group & Resource data collection
Previous versions included optional mass-processing of Service Group and Resource
monitoring object data. This version implements mass-processing by default, resulting in
improved processing and performance.
Support for use of default Agent user account for commands
This new feature facilitates the KM to use Agent login details when running various data
collection commands and eliminates the dependency on having to require a separate KM
OS Login account to be configured and kept up-to-date.
PADM integration is now compatible with BMC Performance Manager Portal 2.6
The PAR file is generated using the latest SDK for Portal 2.6 and threshold settings are
more appropriately configured.
New VCSDaemonProcessCount parameter
This new parameter represents the number of processes/threads for a daemon.
The KM Status Report includes Monitoring Mode
The KM Status Report now includes Monitoring Mode for completeness of reported
application details.
Known Issues and Workarounds
This section lists all known issues with this release of PATROL for Veritas Cluster Server,
and their workarounds.
The PATROL for Veritas Cluster Server does not support csh. The KM and Patrol user
accounts on UNIX platforms must not be configured to use csh.
If the PATROL Agent version on the managed system is earlier than V3.5.30, PATROL
Central Consoles does not display KM icons or images correctly.
If the PATROL Central - Web edition version is earlier than V7.5.50, the context sensitive
online help gives an error message.
