Installation/Operation Manual C3820
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
C3820 POWER CORD
18748G-01
DESCRIPTION
The C3820 Power Cord provides an electrical connection between a David Clark Company
U3800 Master Station and a battery or other DC power source (such as a vehicle fuse rack). An
in-line fuse holder and a 2 amp slow blow fuse are provided to protect the U3800 Master Station
from possible electrical damage. It should be installed to the red wire between the power cord
and the power supply – see C3820 power cord schematic below.
INSTALLATION
1. Assemble the fuse holder and fuse P/N 18900G-38 to the power cords red wire that is
stripped and tinned – see fuse holders installation instructions on back of page.
2. Attach the stripped and tinned end of the C3820 to a 12 or 24 VDC power supply. If
connecting to a vehicle's power source, consider whether to connect before or after the
ignition system.
3. Connect the red wire to DC positive (power) and connect the black wire to DC negative
(ground).
Note: It is recommended that a noise suppression kit, such as Radio Shack P/N 270-030
or equivalent, be installed on the power line to the U3800 Master Station to help
prevent electrical noise from entering the intercom system. Install the filter at the
point where power is derived from.
4. The C3820 has a military type screw-on connector. Install as follows:
a. Align key-way slot on cord connector with key in threaded connector on module.
b. Insert socket into pins until firmly seated.
c. Hand tighten swivel nut on cord connector.
5. Connect the two socket (female) connector of the power cord to the "Power Input" connector
located on the U3800.
