SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A.
Steel Shelving: Shelving racks single or double-faced units, at heights,
lengths and depths indicated on drawings.
B.
Metal Finish:

Metal components, except stainless steel and plated parts, shall
be baked enamel powder coat factory finish. Color, as selected
by Architect, from Manufacturer’s standard colors. Pallet Racking
to be baked sprayed enamel factory finish in Manufacturer's
standard colors.
2.
Exposed bolts, nuts and clips shall be chrome-plated or aluminum.
Seismic Anchorage:

All elements must be designed and anchored to meet seismic
structural requirements of California code.

SUBMITTALS
A.
Shop Drawings: Submit plans, elevations and details indicating shelving
layout installation details, assembly details, and methods of attachment.
Layout to include dimensions to walls, columns, etc.
B.
Calculations: Submit calculations for design of storage shelving and their
adequacy for vertical and seismic loads in compliance with Title 24.
Calculations shall be prepared, signed and sealed by a structural
engineer licensed in the State of California.
C.
Product Data: Manufacturer’s data, catalog information, fabrication
details and specifications, and any special construction required.
D.
Material Samples: Manufacturer’s complete color charts for all exposed
materials.
E.
Maintenance Information: Manufacturer’s maintenance literature.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.
Qualifications: Shelving shall be manufactured and installed by firms
having not less than 5 years experience in providing products and
installations of comparable scope and complexity, and the capability of
documenting such experience.
B.
Prior to delivering materials to the Project site, the installer shall inspect
the areas to receive shelving to verify actual dimensions and field
conditions affecting Work.
DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A.
Delivery products only after exterior opening are closed up: wet Work is
complete, and proper facilities are available for handling, storing, and
protecting items.
B.
Deliver components in sealed containers, with manufacturer’s labels
intact.
C.
Unload materials carefully and store on clean surfaces or raised platforms
in a safe, dry area fully protected from weather. Maintain all materials
clean and dry.

Clip-type adjustable in 1 ½” increments closed back and sides, all units to
be back-to-back shelving with a steel back panel bolted between units.
Shelves: 22 ga. Shelf Height: 1 ¼”.
BOLTLESS SHELVING CATEGORY 1B
A.

Boltless (similar to Rivetier) adjustable in 1 ½” increments, All units to be
back-to-back, 30” deep units bolted together. Shelves: 5/8” particle board
over beams and front-to-back supports.
4-POST TYPE SHELVING CATEGORY 2A, 2B

Closed uprights. All shelving to be single depth. Shelves: 22 ga. Shelf
height: ¾”
Shelf supports: 14 ga.
C.
Closed Uprights: Uprights shall consist of 18 Ga. cold-rolled steel formed
into either a 2" wide "T" shape common post, or a 1" wide angle-shape
end post. Keyhole shaped
slots are placed vertically on the inner face of
the posts. Uprights shall have a 24 Ga. closure panel between the
posts.
D.
Shelves: Shelves shall be formed of 22 Ga. cold-rolled steel with flanges
on all four sides. Front and rear flanges shall also be turned in and up.
Shelves to be supported front and back by two shelf supports of
14 Ga.
min. hot-rolled steel. Height of shelf, including supports, shall be 3/4".
WIRE SHELVING – INTERMETRO CATEGORY 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, 4C

Posts: Posts shall be numerically calibrated with the grooves in 1”
increments.

Shelves: Wire shelves are to be constructed of carbon (or stainless for
freezer) steel with top-wire materials. The materials are to have the
pincer-type design with the mat wire between the two top truss wires.
Sleeves and tapered split sleeves of high-temperature resistant ABS
plastic are to create a positive lock that will get tighter as the load
increases.

Finish: Biohazard Storage - The finish will be a zinc-type, rust inhibiting
as manufacturer’s standard.
Freezer Storage - The finish will be stainless steel.

Frame: Frame will be 36” deep x 120” height with a PRUH 48096-SFP
and PRUH 48120-SFP.

Beams: Step beams will be sx3.5-108.

Deck: Deck will be metal.
FINISHES
A.
Baked Enamel: Unless otherwise stated, provide the manufacturer’s
standard backed enamel finish to all exposed steel surfaces: Prepare
components for painting by a multi stage smoothing, cleaning and
phosphatizing process to assure a smooth, clean surface with no trace of
foreign material that would interfere with the adhesion of the priming coat.
Apply a 2-coat baked enamel finish, medium floss, 1 mil minimum dry-film
thickness, smooth, free of streaks, drops, sags, pinholes, checks, cracks,
peeling, blisters, and foreign material, and capable of withstanding severe
hammer and bending tests without flaking.
B.
Color: As selected by the Architect from the manufacturer’s standard
rang of colors.
PART 3- - EXECUTION

Examine the areas to receive shelving units to verify that floors are level
and other conditions meet the requirements for a satisfactory installation.
Do not proceed with installation until all unsatisfactory conditions have
been corrected.

INSTALLATION
A.
Install shelving system in accordance with the manufacturer’s written
instructions and approved Shop Drawings under the observation of
factory-trained personnel.
B.
Ensure that all anchors are installed in accordance with the anchor
manufacturer’s instructions, receive full embedment, and develop their full
design strength.
C.
Upon completion, touch-up and minor scratches or damaged finish with
paint matching color and texture of finish.
CLEAN UP AND PROTECTION
A.
Remove rubbish, debris, and waste material and legally dispose of off the
Project site.
B.
Leave area clean and ready for use.
C.
Protect the Work of this section until Substantial Completion.
