REMOVAL
PLEASE NOTE: When these instructions refer to “left” it means driver side and “right” refers to passenger side.
1
S60 Models: Fold back the driver side rear seat to gain access to the upper shock mount in the trunk.
(Open the trunk lid for improved lighting)
V70 Models: To access the upper rear shock mount remove the front cargo floor hatch (hatch closest to the seat back) by raising it about 5” and then carefully pulling it towards you until it comes free for the rear retaining clips.
2
S60 Models: Reach into the trunk area through the left rear door. Pull the trunk carpet loose at the point where it tucks in below the hat shelf. There is a small plastic retaining clip that holds the carpet just behind the seat back. This is released by squeezing the end.
V70 Models: Pull up the black panel lining the rear floor of the cargo area and set it aside.
3
Under the carpet, where the side of the trunk meets the trunk floor, you will find an access hole to the left rear shock absorber. The hole is covered by black foam tape. Remove the tape and you will see a uniquely shaped opening that does not line up with the top of the shock absorber mount. There is one 12mm bolt that has a crescent shaped flat washer underneath it. Remove this bolt.

uniquely shaped opening that does not line up with the top of the shock absorber mount. There is one 12mm bolt that has a crescent shaped flat washer underneath it. Remove this bolt.
V70 Models: On the driver side front of the cargo area floor, you’ll see a circular piece of foam that is held in place with adhesive. Pull the foam away to access the top of the left rear shock absorber.
There is one 12mm bolt that has a crescent shaped flat washer underneath it. Remove this bolt.
Safely raise the rear of the car off the ground and support it at the jacking points, according to your owner’s manual. The tires should be clear of the ground.
5 Remove the left rear wheel lug bolts, using a 19mm socket.
6
7
Detach the two parking brake cables from the sub frame by removing two 12mm bolts.
Note: These two bolts screw into inserts that also thread into the aluminum sub frame. If the inserts come out, reinstall them, using Loc-tite.
7
Unclip the parking brake cables from their securing clips.

REMOVAL
8 Remove one of the two 12mm bolts that secure the metal cross-strap under the exhaust pipe. Loosen the second
12mm bolt and rotate the strap out of the way of the exhaust system.
8
9
Remove one end each of the three rubber exhaust system hangars. Applying soapy water to the hangar pin will aid removal. Lower the exhaust system down and support it with a stand or block. It is not necessary to unbolt the exhaust system at the converter.
10
Remove the plastic lower control arm cover that is secured by two 10mm bolts.
11
Remove the left lower 17mm shock absorber bolt from the front of the left lower control arm.
Note: The lower mount on this shock absorber slides over a tubing mount that is part of the lower control arm.
Removing this bolt does not release the lower end of the shock absorber.
9
12 WARNING: For models equipped with 4-C electronic suspension. If you unplug the electrical connector at the shock body and then notice that your headlights are pointing downwards upon completion of the install, it is possible that you may have to have your dealer perform a SUM (suspension module) calibration to reset the shocks ride height memory.
The next step is to remove the lower end of the left rear shock absorber. Remember this component also contains the spring that supports the left rear corner of the car, so it is under some amount of tension.
Note:This may be accomplished by having a helper stand by the left rear wheel opening and carefully step down on the hub. By pushing down on this point, the tension on the left rear spring can be overcome. At the same time, carefully pry the lower end of the shock absorber forward, off its mount.
13
Remove the two 15mm bolts with 17mm nuts that secure the sway bar to the rear sub-frame.
14
Remove the two nuts that connect the sway bar links to the end of the sway bar by using a 18mm wrench and a #40 torx bit.

REMOVAL
ATTENTION!
15
Look up into the top of the left rear shock absorber area, and you can see the upper shock absorber mount. This is a ribbed, aluminum casting that bolts to the body. You can see that the bolt holes in this mount are 16 slotted. Use a marking pen to mark the location of this
mount, relative to the body.
16
Using a long extension and a 14mm socket, remove the two bolts securing the upper shock absorber mount to the body.
17
Lower the shock absorber and spring assembly and move it forward. It is not necessary to remove the shock absorber from the car.
18
NOTE: Before removing the original bar, be sure to study the orientation of the original bar to prevent accidentally installing the replacement bar upside down.
Remove the sway bar by first moving the passenger side upward and forward to clear the right lower control arm. Then move the driver’s side of the sway bar past the shock absorber and clear of the control arm. Move the shock absorber assembly as necessary to clear the driver’s side end of the bar.
17
INSTALLATION
1
Install the passenger side of the ipd sway bar over the end of the parking brake cables and then over the top of the lower control arm.
WARNING: Make sure the parking brake cable is under the sway bar.
2
Install the driver side end of the ipd sway bar by moving the left rear shock absorber as necessary and placing the left end of the bar over the left lower control arm.
3
NOTE: To avoid squeaking bushings, it is important that the supplied waterproof grease be applied liberally to the
ID of the bushings.
Install the lubed bushings to the outside of the washers attached to the bar. Install the bushing clamps. Attach the sway bar to the sub frame using the two 15mm bolts and two 17mm nuts. Torque to 28ft./lbs.

Torque to 36ft./lbs.
4
5
Install the lower end of the left rear shock absorber onto the mounting tube that is part of the left lower control arm.
Note: This may be accomplished by having a helper stand next to the left rear brake and step down on the brake hub while you slide the lower end of the shock absorber onto its mounting tube.
7
6
Secure the lower end of the left rear shock absorber to its mount by installing the 14mm bolt and torque to 20 ft/lbs.
7
Fasten the sway bar end links to the ipd sway bar using new nuts that are supplied with the kit. Tighten using an
18mm wrench and a #40 torx bit and torque to 45 ft/lbs.
8
Raise the exhaust system and reinstall the three rubber hangars onto their pins.
9
Install and tighten the strap under the exhaust system, using the two 12mm bolts. Torque to 16ft./lbs.
8
10
Install the left lower control arm cover using two 10mm bolts.
11
Install and torque the left rear wheel lug bolts, using a
19mm socket. Carefully lower the car onto the ground.
