USER INSTRUCTIONS
FOR DVM -1
DYNA VOLTAGE MONITOR
The DVM-1 voltage monitor allows the user to track battery voltage. It's
primary use is determining when to recharge a battery in a total loss
application like that commonly found in drag racing. When the green light
Is on, the battery is fully charged. When the amber light is on, there is
sufficient voltage to still operate the ignition and other accessories. When
the red light is on, the battery should be charged as soon as possible.
1) Mount the monitor in the desired location using the double sided
tape attached to the unit.
2) Connect the black wire to ground.
3) Connect the red wire to the switched side of the ignition switch.
The side where there is no voltage with switch off and +12 volts
with the switch on.
NOTE — Whenever current passes through a connection or a switch, a
voltage drop can occur. In order for the voltage monitor to
provide meaningful information, the voltage at the ignition switch
must be within O.5 volt of the voltage at the battery with the
engine running. If the voltage drop from the battery to the ignition
switch is greater than O.5 volt with the engine running, the
source of the voltage drop should be identified and corrected.
That may require using heavier gauge wire between the battery
and the ignition switch, or replacing a connector, or switch.
