Installation Guide PWS6300S HITECH Cautions If this product is used in a home, radio-wave interference may occur with other devices. In the case that it does occur, the user is requested to try a variety of remedies to solve the problem. Power source ? PWS is equipped with DC24V input. If the supply power is other than DC24V, less or excess, it will severely damage the PWS. Thus, check the power supply supporting the DC power regularly. ? To avoid electronic shock, be sure the Power Cable is unplugged from the power outlet when connecting the cable to the HMI. Grounding ? From the FG terminal at the rear side of PWS, please make sure the grounding is done properly. ? When the FG terminal is connected, be sure the wire is grounded. Without grounding, PWS may be severely affected by excess noise. ? Use a cable at least 2 mm 2 (AWG 14) to ground the HMI. Ground resistance must be less than 100O (class3). Note that the ground cable must not be connected to the same ground point as the power circuit. Installation ? Mount the PWS from the front of a suitable preserved cut-out. ? Attached the brackets from behind. ? Fasten the screws of the brackets with proper force. Tightening too much may cause deformation of the front case. ? Communication cables must be separated from the power cables for operational circuits. Use shielded cables or it may cause unpredictable problems. ? Do not allow cut wires, fillings, or shavings to fall inside the HMI when drilling holes or connecting cables. Environment ? Do not install in areas subject to excessive dust, oily mist, conductive dust, corrosive gas, or flammable gas. ? Do not mount in areas subject to shock or vibration. Do not mount in areas subject to high temperature, moisture, or rain. Indicated loss of life, severe personal injury, or substantial property damage will result if proper precautions are not taken. COM2 is a 9-pin female connector. Please also make sure that the connection is in accordance with the setting of Dip Switches. (For example, RS485 with SW10=ON) For the illustration of the connection between PWS and a PLC, please consult the information on the PLC. 5 9 PIN 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 3 4 8 2 7 1 6 Function RS422 TX+ (RS485+) RS232 RXD RS232 TXD RS422 RX+ Signal ground RS422 TX- (RS485-) RS232 RTS RS232 CTS RS422 RX- -8- 6 Grounding To make sure that the HMI works properly and to prevent it from radiating radio frequency noise, the HMI must be connected to the earth ground. 7 Power Supply and Wiring PWS6300S must use the power supply with DC24V and the power consumption is 8W. Warning: To avoid an electric shock, be sure to switch off the power before connecting the communication/download cable to theHMI. Attention: When the HMI is connected, be sure the cable is grounded. Steps to Wiring: 1. Unplug the power connector and unscrew the screws. 2. Strip about 1 cm of insulation. Insert the wire all the way into the power connector and then turn the screws tight. 3. Plug in the connector to the power outlet of HMI. (Power connector is already plugged in the power outlet of HMI when the package is first open.) 8 LCD Contrast Adjustment One can use the VR button on the back of the HMI to adjust LCD Contrast (STN LCD). Use a small screw driver to turn the VR button, Clockwise=Contrast Down; Counter-clockwise=Contrast Up. HITECH ELECTRONICS CORP.
