Windows paper management utility Installation and Removal Instructions ReadMe
This ReadMe file contains instructions for installing the paper management utility (PMU) on Windows
systems. The PMU provides the user interface to manage paper catalogs and PPD files for your particular
job streams and customer requirements. You must have a PPD file already installed on your system to
use the Manage Paper Size or Merge Paper Sizes functions of the PMU.
The PMU can be installed on the following operating systems:
Windows 7 – 32-bit/64-bit
Windows Vista – 32-bit
Windows XP – 32-bit/64-bit
Windows Server 2003 – 32-bit/64-bit
Windows Server 2008 – 32-bit/64-bit
The following installation procedure assumes you have a zip program installed on your system. Before
proceeding, verify with your Windows administrator that you have the appropriate privileges to install the
To install the Windows paper management utility:
1. Close all open applications.
2. Download and save the .zip file to a folder on your Hard Drive.
3. Navigate to the folder into which you saved the .zip file.
4. Double-click PMUx32_x64_<brand>
A window appears and displays the contents of the zip file.
5. Extract the files to a folder on your Hard Drive.
6. Close the zip program.
7. Navigate to the folder into which you extracted the files.
8. Double-click setup.exe.
The Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for <Product Name> paper management utility window
9. Click Next.
The Software License Agreement window appears.
NOTE: Click Print to print the license agreement for your reference.
10. After reading the license agreement, click Yes to accept the license agreement.
The Choose Destination Location window appears.
NOTE: Click Browse to change the destination folder, if necessary.
12. Click Next.
The Select Features window appears.
13. Click Next.
The Setup Status window appears, followed by the InstallShield Wizard Complete window.
14. Click Finish.
The PMU is ready to be used.
To remove the Windows paper management utility:
1. Locate and select the PMU Uninstaller from the Start > Programs menu.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the PMU.
