GENERAL INFORMATION

MODEL PS2R1-P operates on one 9V Battery or 120V AC Adapter Output: 9V DC 100 mA - Pelouze Model

• If using Battery: Battery compartment is located on underside of scale. Connect battery

• If using Adapter: First plug into rear of scale, then into wall outlet.

• Peel off protective plastic foil on display. Place scale on a vibration free, level surface.

• Adjustable letter holder stand slides onto platform. If stand is attached BEFORE the scale is turned on, the weight of the stand is automatically compensated.

• Priority Mail from 13 oz to 16 oz (For Priority Mail rates under 13 oz and from 16 oz to 32 oz, please consult your USPS zone chart and the mail chart on the scale platform).

• Express Mail up to 32 oz.

* A nonmachinable surcharge will apply to letters weighing under 1 oz that are smaller than 5"L x 3 1/2"H or larger than 11 1/2"L x 6 1/8"H. There are additional criteria that will cause your letter to incur the nonmachinable surcharge. Please consult your USPS Service Guide or www.usps.com

for complete details.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Press ON (without weight on platform): Display will show “ briefly and then “0.0” indicating ounce mode.

YOU CAN NOW WEIGH OBJECTS ON SCALE

Press ZERO TO RETURN DISPLAY TO 0.0 oz. BEFORE EACH WEIGHING AND BEFORE PLACING

MATERIAL ON PLATFORM.

1. Choose oz or g mode by pressing the oz/g touch pad.

2. Place item to be weighed on the center of the platform. Caution should be taken not to exceed the total capacity of the scale. “ ” appearing in upper half of display indicates capacity has been exceeded.

3. The weight of the item will be displayed.

4. Press 1 st /EXPRESS MAIL to calculate postage. The display will show “$” in the upper left corner, First

Class Mail or Express Mail postage depending upon the desired rate mode and the “1 st ” or “EXP” mode indication at the bottom of the display. Use the 1 st /EXPRESS MAIL key to toggle between the two service modes to compare rates. (Note: For items weighing over 13 oz and up to 16 oz, the 1 st Class mode will calculate Priority Mail postage.)

5. If the item weighs over 16 oz and you select 1 st Class, your scale will display “Err4”. Press oz/g to display the weight of the article to be mailed.

6. To determine Priority Mail postage for this item, you will need an Official National Zone Chart from the

United States Postal Service (visit your local post office or their web site: http://postcalc.usps.gov/ zonecharts) to locate the correct Priority Mail zone. Using the zone and weight, locate the appropriate

Priority Mail postage on the scale platform’s chart.

Press OFF to turn off Scale.

FEATURES

ZERO ADJUST (TARE): ZERO may be used to return Display to zero. ZERO is used to “tare” or offset weight:

1. Place empty container on scale. Press ZERO.

2. Place material to be weighed in container. Display will show NET WEIGHT of material in container.

3. Press ZERO each time additional material is added to container. (Total not to exceed 32 oz capacity of scale).

4. “– – – – –” appearing in display indicates minus weight. Press ZERO to return display to zero.

NOTE: TO CLEAR ANY MODE, OR TO RETURN TO ZERO, REMOVE MATERIAL AND PRESS ZERO.

PIECE COUNT FEATURE:

1. Without weight on platform, Press ZERO. Display will show “0.0” indicating ounce mode.

2. Press COUNT. Display will show “Ad 10”. Add 10 like pieces, weighing a minimum of 1 oz**. Display will show “Pr. C”.

3. Press COUNT. Display will show “10”. Add desired like pieces to be counted.

4. Display will show total pieces counted. Remove pieces counted.

5. Press ZERO. Display will show “0.0” indicating ounce mode.

Note: If pieces to be counted require a container, place empty container on platform before following steps 1 through 5.

** If pieces to be counted do not total at least 1 oz, you must add additional pieces in multiples of 10 until 1 oz or more is attained (e.g. 10, 20, 30 pieces). In order to arrive at the correct quantity, you must multiply the final piece count shown in step 4 by the number of multiples of 10 pieces used in step 2.

AUTOMATIC OFF: When powered by a battery, the scale will automatically turn off after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity (no weight change). This prolongs Battery life.

To deactivate Automatic Turn Off: While scale is off, PRESS and HOLD ZERO. While still holding ZERO press ON until “SHOF” appears briefly in display. This feature is automatically deactivated when the scale is powered by a 120V adapter.

To reactivate Automatic Turn Off: PRESS OFF to turn off scale. Press ON again to turn the scale back on and Automatic Off will be activated.

OVERLOAD WARNING: “ capacity.

” appearing in the upper half of display indicates you have exceeded Scale

LOW BATTERY WARNING: Blinking “ ” appearing on display indicates low battery.

RATE CHANGE INSTRUCTIONS

You have the option of changing Rates by purchasing and replacing the rate chip (visit our website

www.pelouze.com or contact us at 1-888-807-2253) or by programming the new rates into the scale yourself. To program the new rates, follow this procedure:

1. Initiate Program Mode. With the scale turned off, Press and Hold the A key (see diagram at right) and Press and

Hold ON at the same time. The display will show

“ then “2162” or the current version code,

“USPS” and finally the 1 oz 1 st Class postage rate (the last digit blinking).

IMPORTANT: If “Err6” or “0” appear, STOP! The wrong two buttons have been pressed. Turn Scale Off. Begin again.

2. Enter New Rate from Right to Left. As each digit blinks,

Press and Hold the B key to change it. Press D to move left to the next digit. When the new rate is completely entered, Press the C key to store in memory.

3. Complete Rate Changes. Repeat step 2 to enter all 1 st Class rate changes up to 16 oz (use Priority Mail postage rates for 13 oz to 16 oz rates) and then all Express Mail rate changes up to 32 oz. When you complete the 32 oz Express Mail postage rate, “ACCP” will appear on the display, verifying acceptance of the new rates.

4. Press OFF to turn scale off. Scale is now ready to resume normal use.

CARE & CLEANING

Your PS2R1-P is a precision instrument, engineered to give years of valuable service. Care should be given to maintain its accuracy and appearance. PROTECT YOUR SCALE FROM:

• Liquid Spills

• Other Abuses

This scale is easily cleaned by wiping with a damp, soft cloth and mild nonabrasive detergent.

What does this Warranty Cover?

Pelstar LLC scales are warranted from date of purchase against defects of materials or in workmanship for a period of 1 year. If product fails to function properly, return the product, prepaid and properly packed to Pelstar. If manufacturer determines that a defect of material or in workmanship exists, customers' sole remedy will be repair or replacement of scale at no charge. Replacement will be made with a new or remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available, replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. All parts including repaired and replaced parts are covered only for the original warranty period.

Who is Covered?

The original purchaser of the product must have proof of purchase to receive warranty service. Pelstar dealers or retail stores selling Pelstar products do not have the right to alter, or modify or any way change the terms and conditions of this warranty.

What is Excluded?

Your warranty does not cover obsolete dials or chips due to postal rate changes, normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any of the following: negligent use or misuse of the product, use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to the operating instruction, abuse including tampering, damage in transit, or unauthorized repair or alternations. Further, the warranty does not cover Acts of God, such as fire, flood, hurricanes and tornadoes. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state or province to province or jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Make sure you keep your sales receipt or document showing proof of purchase.
