DESCRIPTION
11-0145 / AMENDMENT #1 / Provide All Parts and Labor to Replace Failed Elevator Hydraulic Cylinder
Amendment #1 issued to: (1) correct the number in specifications 6.5.1; (2) renumber and add specifications to Section 6.
Please replace the Table of Contents, pages 11, 12 and 13 of 22.
If this amendment is not returned, it shall be assumed your original bid meets all conditions of the amendment.
All other terms and conditions remain the same. Please revise and submit your bid accordingly.

SECTION #6 SPECIFICATIONS
SPECIFICATIONS OF ITEMS TO BE PROVIDED:
See Specifications and/or Itemized Bid List for the minimum acceptable specifications for items/services desired.
Failure to provide product specifications and information for item(s) bid may disqualify your bid. The University will be the
sole judge of equivalent acceptability between bidders responses.
UW Specifications may not be revised without an official written amendment issued by Purchasing.

Replace the hydraulic cylinder for the #3 freight car using the bore-hole hydraulic design as the hoist-way does
not provide enough room for hole-less hydraulic or machine-room-less traction.
Drill new hole and pound new casing down
6.2.1 Install new PVC liner
Set new jack assembly inside the PVC liner.
6.3.1 Contractor must provide Department specification sheet(s) on jack assembly and packing after
installation.
Install an EECO style leak monitoring system at the well head
6.4.1 Contractor must provide Department specification sheet(s) on EECO style leak monitoring system after
installation.
Elevator Car Specifications
6.5.1 Car travel is approximately 36 feet (basement to top floor)
6.5.2 Piston diameter is approximately 5.41 inches
6.5.3 Car capacity is 2,000 pounds
6.5.4 Car speed is 52 fpm
6.5.5 Working pressure is 230 pounds.
6.5.6 Relief pressure is 315 pounds.

Remove old oil from tank, clean tank and replace with new oil in tank.

Remove and replace pit shut off valve.

Contractor to remove any and all debris. Contractor must haul away and dispose of appropriately.

All permit fees, plan approval fees, and inspection fees are the responsibility of and to be born by the
contractor.
6.10
Warranty:
Contractor must have a minimum of a one (1) year, full item/service warranty on items and/or parts purchased
under this contract.
6.11
Employee Identification:
All Contractor’s employees, while working on University property, must wear a clearly displayed photo identification
badge or uniform showing name of employee and/or company represented. Any identification must be provided by
the Contractor at the Contractor’s cost. Badges must be available but will not be required to be worn when
protective clothing and respiratory protection is required.

the Contract between the University and the Contractor. Bidder must accept these Specifications, Special and Standard
Terms and Conditions or submit detailed and defined exceptions along with proposed alternative or additional language
for each exception.
Submitting a standard Bidder Contract as a complete substitute or alternative for the language in this solicitation will not
be accepted and may result in rejection of the vendor’s bid.
The University reserves the right to negotiate contractual terms and conditions or reject the Bidder’s response and
proceed to the next qualified bidder.
