About the BlackBerry Music Gateway
The BlackBerry® Music Gateway is designed to enable you to wirelessly transmit music from your BlackBerry device to your home or portable stereo. The BlackBerry Music Gateway does not use a battery; it is powered by the BlackBerry® Travel Charger.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway uses Bluetooth® technology to establish a wireless connection with your BlackBerry device. After you pair the
BlackBerry Music Gateway with your BlackBerry device, you can connect to the BlackBerry Music Gateway when it is within range of your
BlackBerry device (a typical range is approximately 10 meters).
The BlackBerry Music Gateway does not wirelessly transmit calls that you receive on your BlackBerry device to your stereo.

LED notification
The LED light on the BlackBerry® Music Gateway displays different colors to indicate different statuses.

Description
The BlackBerry Music Gateway is turned on, but it is not paired with or connected to your BlackBerry device.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway is turned on and it is connected with your BlackBerry device.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway is in pairing mode.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway is successfully paired with your BlackBerry device.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway did not pair with your BlackBerry device.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway is paired with your BlackBerry device and your BlackBerry device is connected to the BlackBerry Music Gateway.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway is experiencing a problem. Turn off the BlackBerry Music Gateway and turn it on again.

Using the BlackBerry Music Gateway
Prerequisites: Using the BlackBerry Music Gateway
• Verify that you are using a Bluetooth® enabled BlackBerry® device and that Bluetooth technology is turned on.
• Verify that your BlackBerry device is running BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.2.2 or later.
• Verify that you have a BlackBerry® Travel Charger.
• Verify that your stereo has a 3.5 mm auxiliary input jack or RCA auxiliary input jacks.

Pair with your BlackBerry device
1.
Connect the smaller end of the BlackBerry® Travel Charger to the USB port on the side of the BlackBerry® Music Gateway.
2. Depending on the type of BlackBerry Travel Charger that you have, insert the plug blade attachment into the power adapter or fold the plug blades down.
3. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet.
The LED light on the BlackBerry Music Gateway begins to flash red then blue to indicate that it is in pairing mode. The BlackBerry Music
Gateway remains in pairing mode for 120 seconds.
4. On your BlackBerry device, on the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
5. Click Set Up Bluetooth.
6. Click Search.
7. Click BlackBerry Stereo Gateway.
8. In the passkey dialog box, type 0000.
9. To pair with an additional BlackBerry device, press the Power button on the BlackBerry Music Gateway.
The LED light begins to flash red and blue. Repeat steps 4 to 8.
If you have a third-party Bluetooth enabled device, you might be able to pair it with the BlackBerry Music Gateway. For more information, see the documentation for your third-party Bluetooth enabled device.
Connect to your stereo
• Verify that the volume of your stereo and your BlackBerry® device is set to a comfortable listening level.
• Verify that your stereo is set to detect auxiliary input.

Perform one of the following actions:
• If your stereo has a 3.5 mm auxiliary input jack, using the audio cable with 3.5 mm stereo plugs, connect one of the plugs to the
BlackBerry® Music Gateway and connect the other plug to your stereo.
• If your stereo has RCA auxiliary input jacks, using the audio cable with RCA type connectors, connect the 3.5 mm stereo plug to the
BlackBerry Music Gateway and connect the two RCA type connectors to your stereo.

2. On your BlackBerry device, in the media application, play a song.
For more information about playing songs, click Help on your BlackBerry device.
Turn on the BlackBerry Music Gateway
• Verify that the BlackBerry® Travel Charger is connected to the USB port on the side of the BlackBerry® Music Gateway.
• Verify that the BlackBerry Travel Charger is plugged into a power outlet.
Press the Power button.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway tries to connect to your BlackBerry device.
Turn off the BlackBerry Music Gateway
Hold the Power button until the BlackBerry® Music Gateway turns off.

• To view a list of shortcuts that you can use to play or pause songs, on your BlackBerry® device, in the media application, open the menu and click Help.
• To turn off the prompt that appears when you connect to the BlackBerry® Music Gateway, add the BlackBerry Music Gateway to your list of trusted Bluetooth® enabled devices. For more information, click Help on your BlackBerry device.

The BlackBerry Music Gateway does not turn on
Try performing the following actions:
• Verify that the smaller end of the BlackBerry® Travel Charger is securely connected to the USB port on the side of the BlackBerry®
Music Gateway.
• Verify that the BlackBerry Travel Charger is securely plugged into a power outlet.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway turned off unexpectedly
The Power button on the BlackBerry® Music Gateway is touch sensitive. If you need to move the BlackBerry Music Gateway while it is turned on, avoid touching the Power button.
I connected the BlackBerry Music Gateway to my stereo but there is no sound
Try performing the following actions:
• Verify that the BlackBerry® Music Gateway is paired with and connected to your BlackBerry device.
• Verify that the audio cable is securely connected to the BlackBerry Music Gateway and your stereo.
• Verify that the volume of your stereo and your BlackBerry device is set to a comfortable listening level.
• Verify that your BlackBerry device is playing a song or other audio file.
• Verify that your stereo is set to detect auxiliary input.
The BlackBerry Music Gateway is not responding
Unplug the BlackBerry® Travel Charger from the power outlet and then plug it back in again. If the BlackBerry® Music Gateway is still not responding, return the BlackBerry Music Gateway to the place of purchase for service.

Please read these safety instructions and the operation instructions provided in this booklet before using the BlackBerry® Music Gateway.
Retain these instructions for future use.
Audio Safety
If you listen to audio files at loud levels, permanent hearing loss might occur. Avoid increasing the volume to block out noisy surroundings. If you experience ringing in your ears or muffled speech, consult a physician to have your hearing checked.
CAUTION: Do not plug a headset into the BlackBerry Music Gateway.
Electrical Safety
The BlackBerry Music Gateway should be used only with the type of power source indicated in the operation instructions. Route all cables so that they are not likely to be walked on, tripped over or pinched by items placed upon or against them. Pay particular attention to the point where the power cable plugs in to the BlackBerry Music Gateway. Do not overload power outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock. To reduce the risk of damage to the cord or the plug, pull by the plug rather than the cord when you disconnect the BlackBerry Music Gateway from the power source.
Never push objects of any kind through openings in the BlackBerry Music Gateway as they might short-out parts and could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the BlackBerry Music Gateway. Do not use the BlackBerry Music Gateway near water (for example near a bathtub, or a sink, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool, etc.). Whether in use or not, the BlackBerry Music Gateway should be situated away from heat sources, such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, flames, lit candles, cigarettes, or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
Care
Unplug the BlackBerry Music Gateway from the power outlet and your stereo before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Rather, use a dry cloth to clean the unit. Unplug the BlackBerry Music Gateway from the power outlet and your stereo during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the BlackBerry Music Gateway or the BlackBerry® Travel Charger to water, rain, or other moisture.
Service
Unplug the BlackBerry Travel Charger from the power outlet and from the BlackBerry Music Gateway. Unplug the BlackBerry Music Gateway from your stereo. Refer the BlackBerry Music Gateway and any accessories for service to qualified service personnel if any of the following situations occur:
• The audio cables or plugs, BlackBerry Travel Charger, or any of the BlackBerry Music Gateway connectors are damaged.
• Liquid has been spilled on the BlackBerry Music Gateway.
• The BlackBerry Music Gateway has been exposed to rain or water.
• The BlackBerry Music Gateway becomes very hot to the touch.
• The BlackBerry Music Gateway has been dropped or damaged in any way.
• The BlackBerry Music Gateway does not operate normally, and you followed the instructions contained in this booklet.
• The BlackBerry Music Gateway exhibits a distinct change in performance.
User Guide Safety information
Use the BlackBerry Music Gateway in accordance with the directions provided in this booklet. Improper use might result in damage and will potentially require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the BlackBerry Music Gateway to its normal operation. Do not attempt to disassemble the BlackBerry Music Gateway.
For information on qualified service personnel in your area, please contact your wireless service provider or BlackBerry reseller.
CAUTION: Failure to observe all these instructions will void the Limited Warranty, and might lead to suspension or denial of services to the offender, or legal action, or both.
Device and accessory disposal
The BlackBerry® device or accessory should not be placed in household waste bins. Please check local regulations for information about the disposal of electronic products in your area.
Accessories
Use only those accessories approved by Research In Motion (RIM). Using any accessories not approved by RIM for use with the BlackBerry®
Music Gateway might invalidate any approval or warranty applicable to the BlackBerry Music Gateway, might result in the non-operation of the BlackBerry Music Gateway, and might be dangerous.
