A 1/8/04 DCO 6728 Culligan Platinum Series and Culligan Gold Series Standard Programming Instructions Use this sheet to assist in programming the Culligan Platinum Series and Gold Series water softeners. Please refer to the Culligan Platinum Series and Culligan Gold Series Installation and Operation Manual if modifications need to be made to the programming options. Make sure the inlet water supply is turned off, then connect power to the unit. The display will power-up flashing “12:00 PM”. The motor will energize and cycle the control without stopping to the home position. Hours Flashing DIP Switches The controller uses DIP switches as a means of programming Press the “Regen” key to flash specific options. Options to be programmed are as follows listed hours. Adjust the hours with the ▲ H24 Dips in the Off / On position: or ▼ key. • • • • • • • • • • Run/Test DIP #1 – Run / Test Soft/Fil DIP #2 – Softener / Filter Control Select DIP #3 – Control Selection Control Select DIP #4 - Control Selection Slow/Fast DIP #5 – Slow / Fast Refill Delay/Immed DIP # 6 – Delayed / Immediate Eng/Met DIP #7 – English / Metric 12hr/24hr DIP #8 – 12 HR / 24 HR Advanced DIP #9 – Advanced Off / On DIP #10 – Time Clock Backup Off / On TCB Press the “Status key to save the setting and move to the next programming step. • After “tor”, the display will show “2:00 AM” (or the current time of regeneration if already programmed). The time is adjusted in 30 minute increments with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status key to save the setting and move to the next programming step. DIP Switch 3 & 4 are used to select the control type as shown below: GOLD PLAT EURO OTHR OFF ON DIP Switch 5 is set to the OFF position for 9” & 10” tanks (0.45 gpm brine refill flow control) and to the ON position for 12”, 14” & 16” tanks (0.80 gpm brine refill flow control). Display Icons The display is backlit and has the icons as shown below: Programming • Beeper Setting – This setting is used to turn the beeper on or off for each key press actuation. The display will show “bEEP X” where X is either “Y” or “N” The “Y” or “N” are toggled with the ▲ and ▼keys. Setting the beep option to “N” will only disable the beeper for key press actuation. It is still active for error and alarm codes. • Time of Day – This setting programs the current time of day. The display will first show “tod” for two seconds. After “tod” is displayed, “12:00 PM” will display (or the current set time if already programmed) and the minutes will flash. Adjust the minutes with the ▲ or ▼ key. • Iron Setting (Flow Meter Only) – This setting is used to set the iron level (PPM) of the influent water supply. “IRON” is displayed in the left most digits and the iron default setting (or previously programmed value) in the far right digit. Adjust the value with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status” key to move to the next programming step. The value will not be saved until the “Status” key is pressed after the Defaults programming step. • Minutes Flashing Hardness Setting (Flow Meter Only)– This setting is used to input the hardness (grains) of the influent water supply. The display will show “HArd” for two seconds and then display the hardness default (or previously programmed value). Adjust the value with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status” key to move to the next programming step. The value will not be saved until the “Status” key is pressed after the Defaults programming step. Press the “Status key to save the setting and move to the next programming step. • Time of Regeneration – This setting is used to program the time at which a regeneration occurs in the delay mode or when time clock backup is enabled in immediate mode. The display will show “tor” for two seconds. Salt Type (Flow Meter Only) – This setting is used to select the regeneration salt type – Sodium Chloride (NaCl) or Potassium Chloride (KCl). The display will show “SALt” for two seconds and then “NACL” (or previously programmed value), Toggle between “NACL” and “KCL” with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status” key to move to the next programming step. The value will not be saved until the “Status” key is pressed after the Defaults programming step. • Gold or Platinum Tank Size (Flow Meter Only) – This setting is used to input the size tank that the control is connected to. The display will show “GOLd” (or “PLAtIN”) for two seconds and then display the tank size default (or previously programmed value). Adjust the tank size with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status” key to move to the next programming step. The value will not be saved until the “Status” key is pressed after the Defaults programming step. • • • • Efficiency Mode (Flow Meter Only) – Efficiency mode will only be available if the hardness is 20 gpg or less and iron is 0 PPM (Mode is not available if DIP switch #6 or #9 are on). The “EFFICIENCY MODE” icon will display with a default of “NO”. Toggle between “NO” and “YES” with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status” key to move to the next programming step. The value will not be saved until the “Status” key is pressed after the Defaults programming step. • Press the “Status key to save the setting and move to the next programming step. Defaults (Flow Meter Only) – This setting allows the control to automatically set the values of salt dosage, cycle times, batch capacity and total capacity based on the above inputted values. The display will show “dEFLtS” for two seconds and then display “YES”. Toggle between “YES” and “NO” with the ▲ or ▼ key. If “YES” is selected, then pressing the “Status” key will save the automatically set values and move to the next programming step. If “NO” is chosen, then the options for cycle times, salt dosage, batch capacity and total capacity will be available with successive presses of the “Status” key. View (Flow Meter Only, Defaults Yes) – This setting allows the programmer to view the calculated and looked up values for salt dosage, cycle times, batch capacity and total capacity. The values can only be viewed and not changed. The display shows “View N”. Toggle between “N” and “Y” with the ▲ or ▼ key. If “Y” is selected, successive presses of the “Status” key will cycle through the values. If “N” is selected, pressing “Status” will exit programming mode and return to the time display. Salt Dosage (Aqua-Sensor) – This setting is used to set the salt dosage. The display shows “doSAGE” for two seconds and then “LbS XX” where XX is the salt dosage in pounds. Adjust the dosage with the ▲ or ▼ key. Backwash (Aqua-Sensor) – This setting is used to set the backwash time in minutes. The display shows the “BACKWASH” and “MINS” icons along with XX in the rightmost digits where XX represents the time in minutes for backwash. Adjust the minutes with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status” key to save the setting and move to the next programming step. • Brine Rinse (Aqua-Sensor) – This setting is used to set the brine rinse time. The display shows the “BRINE RINSE” and “MINS” icons along with 99 (or previously programmed value) in the rightmost digits where 99 represents the time in minutes for brine rinse. Leaving the value at the 99 minute default enables the brine rinse out alarm function. Adjust the minutes with the ▲ or ▼ key. Press the “Status” key to save the setting and exit programming mode to return to the time display. Manual Control Cycling The control can be manually cycled through a regeneration to troubleshoot the control or verify that the set-up is complete. A manual cycling of the control is accomplished by following the steps as outlined below: 1. While in the service mode, press the “Statistics” key. 2. Press the ▲ key to display the current motor position. If a flow meter is attached the display will have a “F” in the leftmost position, an AquaSensor will show “A” in the next position. If in the service (Home) position the rightmost digits will alternate between “HM” and “00 MINS”. 3. Press and hold the “Regen” key for 5 seconds until the regeneration is started. Once regeneration is active, the “Regen” key will be ignored until the control returns to the service or “home” position. 4. The “REGEN” icon will flash and the control will cycle to the Backwash position. When in the Backwash position the display will continue to flash the “REGEN” icon and in addition display the “BACKWASH” and “MINS” icons and the time remaining for the cycle in the rightmost digits (“F” or “A” will also show as in 2 above if applicable). 5. Press the ▲ key to cycle to the next position and remain there until the cycle times out or the control is manually indexed. 6. Repeat step 5 until the control returns to the service (Home) position. In order to step through the cycles again, repeat at step 3.
