YAESU VX-3R is a compact and versatile dual-band transceiver that offers a wide range of features for amateur radio enthusiasts. VX-3 Mars/Cap
Yaesu VX-3 Mars/Cap mod is as simple as removing the resistor under the little black sticker (center of the window on the upper region of the lower circuit board) & doing a hard reset.
This resistor is brown and is oriented vertically with contacts top/bottom.
Note:
Some have a black resistor but the mod work the same.
Reset is:
Microprocessor Reset on Page 128 of the Manual kills all memories and settings
Power Off
Hold [MODE] + [V/M] and Power On

THIS MOD COME FORM VARIOUS SOURCE ON THE NET.
THIS MOD CAN CHANGE THE "COUNTRY MODE" OF YOUR RIG BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT REGULATORY OF STATES
ARE PRESERVED, SO YOUR RIG WILL ACT DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOU EXPECT. ALSO REMEMBER THAT THE
KEYBOARD LABELS CAN NOT REFLECT ACTUAL FUNCTIONS.
1. Set mode 19-CWID to AH028M
-power on, then press and hold SET to go to SET function
-turn the dial to 19-CWID
-press SET and turn to ON
-press V/M to text enter screen
-dial one character by one, press V/M for next character, to set it to AH028M, press 2 more V/M to leave text enter screen
-press SET to go back to SET function
2. Power off
3. Press and hold both MODE key and TXPO key, then power on
4. You will not see voltage screen this time. Instead there are operation modes for your choice (B1, C1, F1, ***, HAM, H1, A1, etc.):
!!Remember to record what mode you're initially in!!
For SECOND MENU (A3, B3, C3, D3, ***, HAM, etc...) OR (A1, B1, C1, D1, H1, ***, HAM, etc...) Turn the dial and press MODE then press F/W to set.
Your rig is now operates on a new mode!
*If you choose *** and press F/W, you will have an even wider TX range, but Radio disabled. Others not tried yet, and I guess different version has different modes/ranges/settings
*If you want to restore your mode, follow all steps above and set it back to your recorded mode in step 4.
When you set *** mode you wheel have TX from 120-220 & 300-576Mhz but you must remove jumper from board, you can find it on second side behind battery, behind black sticker.
TX from 140-174 & 420-470 remove jumper!!!! and do master reset! Reset is:

Power Off Power Off
Hold [MODE] + [V/M] and Power On Hold [MODE] + [V / M] and Power On
Press [F/W] Press [B / W] GOOD LOCK
