Reporting Student Progress and Achievement
Odyssey Reports
Odyssey Manager provides a wide variety of reports that allow teachers and administrators
to create detailed and summary snapshots of student achievement, both in the classroom
and on state-mandated testing. Options include using aggregated and disaggregated
data, multi-school administration data, pretest versus posttest comparisons, and individual
student progress data.
For all reports, Odyssey offers these report formats:

Odyssey report capabilities address the federal requirements for accountability in two
ways: showing progress throughout the year and disaggregation of data. Adequate yearly
progress (AYP) is a statewide accountability system mandated by NCLB. An individual
state’s AYP measures progress toward a goal of 100 percent of students achieving state
academic standards in a minimum of reading (language arts) and math.
The Student Progress, Learning Path Status, and Objective-based Test Results reports all
demonstrate student progress throughout the year and can gather this information for the
teacher, principal, or district administrator.

STuDEnT STATuS GADGET
The Student Status Gadget is on the left side of the Dashboard and groups students’ status
from poorest performing to highest performing. The Student Status Gadget allows teachers
ongoing monitoring of student performance and intervene quickly as needed.
Teachers can view the average score for Activities Assigned by Me. They also can select to
view assignments assigned within the last 30 days, the last 7 days, yesterday, or during the
current year.
Additionally, clicking on a student’s name from the list opens a window with information on
the ten activities with the ten lowest scores, grouped by assignment. Time on task is also
available in hours, minutes, and seconds.

When a teacher logs into the Odyssey Manager, the At-a-Glance gadget appears on the right
side of the screen. A pie chart displays student score information about recent assignments
and assessments assigned by the logged in teacher as well as any co-teachers for the class.
This visual display provides teachers with summary information they can use when planning
assignments, creating instructional groups, and preparing students for state tests.
The Assessments tab shows average scores for an objective. Once a standard, subject,
and grade level are selected, a pie chart displaying the desired information appears. If the
teacher clicks on a segment of the chart, a window with additional information appears.

Mastery level: Displays the mastery level set for each objective and for
scored activities serving as decision points. Activities repeated during cycling
appear, with results, as many times as completed. Each authentic task
appears in the report only once, even when completed more than once.
Results: Displays a student’s score on the objective. Icons indicate status
for each activity. For scored activities, a student’s score links to the activity
details. Odyssey Writer grades link to projects and teacher evaluations. An
another objective within the same learning path.
Activities: Displays all of the activities that are in objective folders, including
activity icons, names, and learning activity numbers. Learning activity names
and numbers are links to the activities. As a student completes activities in
the learning path, status for completed activities is listed at the top of the

DESCRIPTION
REPORT fEATURE
Curriculum
Summarizes completion of the following Odyssey activities and components:
Chapter tests
Learning activities
Lesson quizzes
Web activities
Community activities
Authentic tasks
Completion status for each student is grouped by the curriculum and level by
which the assignment (or assignments) included in the report are categorized.
Algebra I assignments (categorized as curriculum A1 and level 13) and two
Algebra II assignments (categorized as curriculum A2 and level 13) the student’s
status displays one summary for the A1/13 assignments and one summary for
the A2/13 assignments.
views
Expanded view allows the user to see additional details by activity type.
These details include: the number of activity type assigned, the number
required to complete, the number completed, and the number remaining. In
addition, the user sees a student completion bar, how many assignments the
student tested out of, how many were suppressed (or already covered via a
similar assignment), how many were repeated (or duplicated), the total time
spent on the task, and the average score for the activity type.
Collapsed view allows the user to see an overview of multiple students that
includes data on name, subject, grade level, assignments, and an average
score for all completed activities. Additionally, student completion is displayed
in three different formats: status bar, numeric ratio, and percentage.
Date Range
Displays student completion status within a date range that you specify.

ObjECTivE-bASED TEST RESulTS
This report displays student, class, or school performance on objective-based tests, which
are tests that include objectives aligned to state, school, and district standards for that subject area. District administrators may generate a report for each school account to compare
schools within the district and analyze adequate yearly progress.
When you generate the Objective-based Test Results report, consider the following:
Compare gains between schools by administering the same test twice — as a
pretest and posttest. To display student progress, the most recent instance of an
assigned test must be a copy of the original test.
particular student attributes for NCLB reporting purposes (disaggregate data).
To keep district-wide assessment data current with enrollment, ensure that student
data is transferred with the students and that reports include data from previous
schools.

The Test Item Summary lists items in an objective-based
test and displays student choices for each distractor in
the test item. A distractor is one of the incorrect answers
presented as a choice in a multiple-choice test. Use this
report to evaluate the effectiveness of custom test items.
The percentage bar graph lets you quickly spot regularly
missed questions.

sample size results in
a more reliable analysis,
