What you need:
• MicroLink MLxS receiver
• MicroLink CI S (part no. 052-0039)
• Blue-red short cable from Phonak (part no. 052-0139)

What to do:
It is important to consult with the cochlear implant centre about
which program should be used with the FM system as the mixing
may need to be changed.

Turn off the speech processor, FM receiver and transmitter.
Insert the short blue-red cable into the CI S.
Plug the MLxS receiver into the CI S. The pin
orientation should be as shown in photo to right.
Ensure that there is a size 13 battery in the CI S.
Switch on the CI S.

Plug the other end of the blue-red cable into the external
input socket on the side of the speech processor.
Gradually increase the gain on the CI S until it is at a
comfortable level.
Turn on the FM transmitter, the CI S and the speech
processor in that order.
Switch to the correct program.
Troubleshooting
Have you definitely turned on the microphone? Particular care is
needed with the Campus transmitter where there is a switch on the
microphone itself.
Using a test amplifier (eg Radio Shack speaker). Plug the CI S and
receiver into the test amplifier using the blue-red cable. Making sure
the receiver is switched to two green dots, speak through the
transmitter to ensure the FM is working correctly.
To check the FM system you could use the Headset Checker
(Phonak part number 052-3126). Remove the receiver from
the processor and plug into the headphones. Switch on the
receiver and the transmitter. Listen for a clear signal.
Or check the FM using a working hearing aid and audio shoe. Plug
the receiver into the audio shoe, switch on the hearing aid and then
the transmitter and listen to the signal through a stetoclip.
