Using the Zoom R16 Recorder When Recording on the Zoom R16 you will get a seperate track/file for each microphone. When you are done recording, you may RECORD to a MASTER TRACK to compile your project into one file (see 6 below). 1. Adjust the microphones so they are close to the people using them. 2. With the power to the Zoom R16 OFF, insert a SD card if needed. A. Turn on the power switch (back the of the R16) 3. Create a New Project. A. Press the PROJECT button. B. Select >NEW & press enter. C. Name the NEW project (use the dial and cursor keys) D. Confirm the name and press enter. E. Select CONTINUE F. Create? ENTER 4. RECORD A. Press the Status Key of Input being used (1/2/3) to show RED B. Adjust the input sensitivity and monitoring level. C. Move to the beginning (STOP + REW) D. Start Recording (REC + PLAY) E. Stop Recording (STOP) 5. Playback A. Exit Record Standby mode (Press Status Key to show GREEN) B. Move to the beginning (STOP + REW) C. Start Playback (PLAY) D. Stop Playback (STOP) 6. Recording to a MASTER TRACK (listening and re-recording to compile your tracks to one file) A. Press MASTER/MIX DOWN/PLAY until the RED light turns on. B. Prepare the file/settings a. Move to the beginning (STOP + REW) b. Press Play c. Adjust the master level (red peak indicator should not light) d. Press Stop C. Move to the beginning (STOP + REW) D. Start Recording (REC + PLAY) (adjust levels on playback tracks as needed) E. Stop Recording (STOP) 7. MASTER Playback A. Exit Record Standby mode on MASTER/MIX DOWN/PLAY to show GREEN B. Move to the beginning (STOP + REW) C. Start Playback (PLAY) D. Stop Playback (STOP) 8. To transfer file to a computer. A. If using your own SD Card, switch OFF the Zoom R16, then remove card. B. If saving to personal USB... 1. Press USB 2. Select “USB STRAGE” 3. Select SAVE 4. Select project with data to save using the “select DIAL.” 5. Select a file using the “select DIAL.” 6. Select the data to save using the “select DIAL.” a. You may change the name using the arrows and select dial. 7. Save the file (press enter) 8. Press the exit button several times to get the “home screen” on the Zoom a. You may pull the USB device now. 9. When finished, turn OFF the power switch to the Zoom R16.
