Kit 50290 applicable to Wells model HW-10
Kit 55693 applicable to Wells models HW-10 & HW-106D (120V)
Kit 55967 applicable to Wells models HW-10 & HW-106D (208/240V)
Kit 55984 applicable to Wells model HW-106D
1. a. Disassemble warmer. Note location of all components and
mountings.
b. Mark wiring terminals. Disconnect thermostat and heating
element wiring.
c. Remove and discard components to be replaced.
d. Remove all electrical components from pot.
e. Clean openings in pot, being careful to remove all calcium
build-up and old sealant.
2. Loosen compression fitting on capillary tube bulkhead fitting of
thermostat. From the outside, insert thermobulb through
threaded fitting into the pot.
3. a. Slide three safety rings over thermobulb.
b. Attach thermobulb to heating element. With open portion
of the element at the bottom, the thermobulb must be
centered at the 3:00 position, and aligned approximately
30º outboard of the heating element.
c. Place one clamp approximately 1/2" from each end of the
thermobulb. Safety rings must be inboard of the clamps,
with one ring immediately adjacent to each clamp, and the
third approximately centered between the other two.
CAUTION:
ELECTRIC SHOCK
HAZARD
Disconnect appliance from electric
power before opening any access
panel.
CAUTION:
BURN HAZARD
Allow appliance to cool completely
before servicing.
NOTE: Thermobulb mounts
ABOVE the heating element,
approximately 30º toward the
outside.
IMPORTANT:
1. Be sure three safety rings are
in place on thermobulb before
mounting bulb to element.
NOTE: Parts shown for location reference only.
Not all parts shown are included in each kit.
2. Route capillary tube under
element. Allow some amount
of slack in capillary tube
between thermobulb and
bulkhead fitting to prevent
stress damage.
3. Do not allow capillary tube or
thermobulb to contact heating
element.
4. Premature failure due to
incorrect installation is not
covered by warranty.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (continued)
ELECTRIC SHOCK
HAZARD
4. Install one copper seal washer on each element mounting stud.
Disconnect appliance from electric
power before opening any access
panel.
CAUTION:
BURN HAZARD
Allow appliance to cool completely
before servicing.
IMPORTANT:
1. Do not allow capillary tube or
thermobulb to contact heating
element.
2. DO NOT allow capillary tube
to kink. Carefully route
capillary tube to prevent
damage.
5. Be sure capillary tube is routed under the element, then insert
element into mounting holes in pot. Apply a bead of sealant to
the male threads of the element studs, then install nuts. Torque
nuts to 150 in.-lbs. Clean excess sealant from surrounding
area.
6. Apply sealant to the male threads of the capillary tube bulkhead
fitting and install in the threaded fitting on the pot. Tighten only
enough to prevent leaks.
7. Apply sealant to the male threads of the capillary tube
compression fitting. Be sure capillary tube is routed out of
contact with heating element, then tighten compression fitting in
capillary tube bulkhead fitting.
8. Mount thermostat on mounting bracket. Connect electric wiring
to thermostat and heating elements.
9. Reassemble warmer. Test for proper operation.
