Regulations
Before connecting to the network, you must familiarise yourself with the regulations
for computing use at the University of Greenwich. You are reminded that when
using the computing facilities you are bound by the Regulations for the Use of
Computing Facilities at your home institution.

Initial setup
•
Check that your wireless adaptor is turned on (either a switch on the side or
a key on the keyboard with a Wireless symbol - usually a light indicates when
it is on)
•
Open Connect to a Network by clicking the Network Connection button in
the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, a list of networks currently
available is displayed.
•
If eduroam is present then click on it, else proceed to the next section:

Enter your university computer account details i.e. [email protected]
followed by your computer account password

If you click the Network icon again, the following should
appear, else proceed to the next section: Manual setup

• In the Network Connection window click on
Open Network and Sharing Center
• Click on Manage Wireless Networks
• Select Add from the menu bar, then

Enter the network name eduroam
Select Security type WPA2-Enterprise
Select Encryption type AES
Click on Next

Select Change connection settings
In the ‘eduroam Wireless Network
Properties’ window click on the Security tab
Select Security type WPA2-Enterprise
Select Encryption type AES
Select Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Click on Settings
•
Un-tick the box Validate server certificate
•
Un-tick the box marked Automatically use
my Windows logon name and password
Click OK until all dialogues boxes are
closed, then click the network icon in the
taskbar, click eduroam and click Connect
You may get a dialogue box warning that
The connection attempt could not be
completed. To finish the setup click on
Connect
