DP240B / DP140B Internal Battery Module Replacement
Note: Please read the following instructions in their entirety before attempting to replace
the Internal Battery Module. It is recommended that AC power be removed before
starting this procedure. The replacement module batteries may have a different
appearance than the old batteries. Please call SEI Technical Support at 800-765-4734 if
you have any questions.
Items Included in the Battery Module Replacement Kit
1. Battery Replacement Module.
2. 9.5” red wire with one Fast On connector and one wire end stripped.
3. 8” Black Wire with Fast On connectors on both ends.
Remove Old Battery Module

Remove the panel mount fuse from the fuse holder.
Loosen the eight 8/32 cover screws and remove the front cover.
Remove the four lower cover screws, two on each side.
Disconnect the battery connector from the PCB mounted on the right side of the
chassis.
Loosen the screw on the battery connector that holds the red wire and remove the
red wire from the connector.
Remove the wire that runs from the fuse holder to the battery module. Be careful
when removing the wire from the fuse holder, do not use excessive force.
Remove the four 8/32 screws that hold the battery module tray to the chassis.
There are two screws on the right side and two screws on the left side.
Carefully remove the battery module from the chassis.
Install New Battery Module
1. Carefully slide the new battery module into the chassis, lifting slightly to clear
mounting hardware on the bottom of the chassis. Once the hardware is cleared
push the battery module against the back of the chassis.
2. While holding the right side of the battery module plate against the back of the
chassis install an 8/32 screw in the top right side battery module mounting hole.
3. While holding the left side of the battery module plate against the back of the
chassis install an 8/32 screw in the top left side battery module mounting hole.
4. Attach the new red wire from the kit to the battery connector. Be sure to fully
tighten the connector screw.
5. Re-connect the battery connector to the PCB.
6. Attach the red wire, the same as in step 4, from the battery connector to the Fast
On tab marked “LVD” on the battery charging PCB.
7. Connect one end of the 8” black wire to the open metal tab on fuse holder and
connect the other end to the open negative terminal of the battery module.
8. Install the fuse in the panel mount fuse holder.

Adjust Power Supply
When new batteries are installed in the DP240B / DP140B the power supply output
voltage must be adjusted to insure proper charge voltage.
1. Apply AC power.
2. Apply the normal telephone and NT1 load. (The DP240/140 must have a load
connected to properly adjust the power supply output voltage.)
3. Connect a DVM, Digital Volt Meter, to one of the external battery connectors.
4. Turn the power supply voltage adjustment pot to obtain a battery charge voltage
of 54.6 volts. Turn the pot CCW to increase the voltage and CW to decrease the
voltage.
Replace Cover
1. Install the four lower cover screws, but do not tighten.
2. Install the cover and tighten all eight cover screws.
