HOW TO SHARE MANUALS IN SOCIAL NETWORK GROUPS
HOW TO SHARE MANUALS IN SOCIAL NETWORK GROUPS We would like to show you this new way to share manuals between members of our mechanics social network. First of all, we should tell you that the manuals shared in this way are published directly as the user uploads them, so that before being reviewed it is possible they may contain a virus. Always have an updated antivirus installed. Having said this, we should tell you that 4 main groups have been created to share manuals (you can create as many as you want, but these 4 groups will be those that we, the website managers, control). The groups are as follows: • Car Repair Manuals • Motorcycle Repair Manuals • Heavy Vehicle Repair Manuals • User and Owner Manual If it is the first time you are accessing the group, you have to click on "Join Group" HOW TO UPLOAD A NEW REPAIR MANUAL TO A GROUP Once we are members of the group, we can start to upload manuals for other users to download. To do this, we first of all access the group that matches the type of manual we are going to upload. We then enter the discussions tab as shown in the following image (1), before clicking on create discussion (2). By clicking on create discussion the following window will be shown that we should fill in according to the instructions that appear in the following image. When we finish filling in the details, we activate the "Allow members to upload files" checkbox (3) and click on the "Add discussion" button (4). After clicking on "Add discussion", the discussion will be created by showing us a similar page to the image below. As you can see, we can upload files with a single click on "Load File" (5), as shown in the following image. Before uploading a file, we should give you several recommendations: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Name the file with the name of the model whose manual you are going to upload, something like "Audi A3 repair manual.pdf" (without inverted commas, of course) so that people can easily find it later. Use Chrome instead of Internet Explorer because you will be able to see the percentage of the file being uploaded. If you do it from Explorer, you will only see when file loading finishes. Chrome also allows you to directly drag the files you want to upload. If the manual has more than one file, it is best to compress it with Winzip or Winrar. Upload .pdf, .rar or .zip files preferably. Maximum file size 200 MB We recommend uploading a single file for discussion although you can always upload several manuals for the same model but from different years or with different content. When we click on the "Upload file" link, it will show us the next loading window. If you are using Chrome, you can drag files you want to upload directly (6) and then click on "Start Upload" (8). If you are using Explorer, you must first click on "Add Files" (7) so that Windows Explorer opens, and choose the files to upload, finally clicking on "Start Upload" as well (8). When it reaches 100%, the file will be uploaded and will be available for other group members to download. You can also share manuals in group bulletins in the same way as explained here. HOW TO DOWNLOAD A REPAIR MANUAL FROM A GROUP The easiest way to download a repair manual from one of the groups is from the "View group file" (9) button. To do this, we simply enter the group that interests us (we must be members of it) and click on the "View group file" (9) button as shown in the image. After clicking on the "View File group" button, it will show us this image of the file. The tabs for document, file, etc. (10) allow us to do a quick filter by file type. The "Quick Search" (11) will filter the files as we write them in the search box. To download the manual, we simply click on its title.
