Frequently asked questions

HyperDeck uses standard 2.5" SSDs with a 3 Gb/s SATA interface. You should check the Blackmagic Design website for a list of recommended SSDs.

You need to format the SSD as either HFS+ or exFAT. You can do this by connecting the SSD to your computer and using the Disk Utility application on Mac OS X or the Format dialog box on Windows.

Connect your video source to the SDI or HDMI input of your HyperDeck. Then, press the Record button to start recording. Press the Stop button to finish recording.

Insert the SSD into HyperDeck and press the Play button. You can control playback using the Play, Stop, Next, and Previous buttons. You can also use the Jog/Shuttle wheel on HyperDeck Studio models to shuttle to specific points in the video.

You can remotely control HyperDeck Studio using RS-422 deck control. Connect an RS-422 cable between your external controller and HyperDeck Studio, and then press the REM button on HyperDeck Studio to enable remote control.
