Battery Backup Unit:
Technical Description:
Charging: The charging process starts with the 13 –18V DC power supply
connected to the DC socket. The Illuminated green LED indicates the
charging voltage has been applied and the red LED indicates that charging
with 260 to 300 mA is taking place. During charging, the charge controller
IC measures the current flowing into the accumulator. When the current
changes at the end of charging, the charging process automatically stops
and the red LED switches off. Charging an empty accumulator can take up
to 4 hours. This time is correspondingly shorter for a partially discharged
accumulator. If a pre-charged accumulator is reconnected to the power
supply, charging restarts and the charge controller IC once more
measures the charge current development and then switches off the
charging when this current once more changes to a typical charge over a
defined time. This recharging then takes another 10 minutes. The same
thing happens if a completely charged accumulator remains connected to
the power supply and the current from the power supply is only briefly
interrupted. The red charge LED illuminates for approximately 10 minutes.
