Summary of Unmet Need 30 April 2015 Disability Services A total 2,034 people receiving support from Disability Services had an unmet need. Unmet need by Category: • 1,408 people had Category 1 Critical unmet needs (homelessness/immediate and high risk of harm to self or others) • 443 people had Category 2 Evident unmet needs (risk of harm to self or others/risk of homelessness) • 209 people had Category 3 Potential unmet needs (deteriorating health and/or ability of a client or carers) • 145 people had Category 4 Non-urgent unmet needs (improvement in current situation). Unmet need by Service Type: • 962 people had an unmet need for Supported Accommodation • 645 people had an unmet need for Personal Support • A total of 1,523 people had an unmet need for Accommodation Support (Supported Accommodation and/or Personal Support) • 44 people had an unmet need for Community Support • 114 people had an unmet need for Community Access • 650 people had an unmet need for Respite. Unmet Need Notes Unique clients should not be summed across service types or categories as some clients may have an unmet need recorded for more than one service type or category. Unmet need for assessment for equipment is recorded separately by ASSIST and Domiciliary Equipment Service on a Disability Equipment Waiting List. From July 2013, children and young people up to 14 years will progressively transfer over a three year period to the NDIS. Unmet need for this age group will progressively cease to be included.
