Student Board Liaison Committee
The school principal should submit the names of two representatives for the Student
Board Liaison Committee by September 30. Names should be submitted to the
appropriate Superintendent of Education.
Student Board Liaison Committee members must be full-time students enrolled in the
senior division of a Lambton Kent District School Board secondary school. First
consideration should be given to Student Council members or honourary Student
Council members.
The following procedures are provided as an example. A school may wish to follow
these procedures, modify them or develop procedures of its own. In any case, the
procedures should be clear and communicated to students and staff.
Sample School Based Selection Procedures
Application forms (Appendix A) must be completed and submitted to the principal by
mid-September.
Students who meet the criteria and submit the completed application form must be
interviewed by the School Interview Team.

Each candidate will be given a formal interview.
Interviews will last approximately 20 minutes. Each candidate will receive the same
questions and length of interview time.
The Interview Team will rank order candidates in case successful applicants need to
decline the position due to extenuating circumstances.
Interviews should be scheduled during the third or fourth week in September.
School Interviews must be completed and the names of successful candidates
submitted to the appropriate Superintendent of Education by the end of September.
Credit for Community Activity Involvement
The Trustee Mentor will determine, in consultation with the Student Board Liaison
Committee members, the number of hours that should be credited toward the
Community Involvement Activity requirement for the Ontario Secondary School
Diploma. The Trustee Mentor will verify the information on the Completion of
Community Involvement Activities Form and sign the form for each of the student
members on the committee.
Funding for the Ontario Educational Leadership Centre’s Student Council course
One student delegate from each secondary school could receive financial support, up to
$500 per delegate, to attend the annual Ontario Student Leadership Centre’s Students
Council course held at Lake Couchiching. The rotation cycle will be:

RISK MANAGEMENT POLICY: VEHICLES
The risk management policy with respect to the driving of owned or non-owned vehicles to or from the meetings, as well as
during the co-operative education experience, is outlined as it pertains to students/parents.
1. Transportation to and from meetings is the student’s responsibility. Students will receive compensation as outlined in the
Regulation for Student Board.
2. The student is appropriately licensed and insured to drive to meetings.
3. The insurer of the vehicle must respond to any insurance claim.
