Frequently asked questions

The recommended gas/oil mixture for the Auger Powerhead is 50:1. This means that for every 1 gallon of gas, you should add 2.5 ounces of 2-cycle oil.

To start the Auger Powerhead, first ensure that the black throttle cable housing is seated all the way into the brass ferrule at the engine side of the cable. Then, move the choke lever to the RUN position. Prime the unit until the primer hose is filled with gas. Move the choke lever to the CHOKE position, push the rocker switch to the ON position, and squeeze the throttle control. Grasp the starter handle and pull out slowly until it pulls slightly harder. Without letting the starter handle retract, pull the rope with a rapid full arm stroke. Let it return to its original position very slowly until the unit fires or runs. Once the engine starts, move the choke lever to the HALF CHOKE position until the unit runs smoothly. Move the choke lever to the RUN position and move the throttle to the desired speed.

To check the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug cap. Then, remove the spark plug and inspect it for any of the following: pitted electrodes, burned electrodes, cracked porcelain, or deposits around the electrodes. If any of these are present, you should replace the spark plug. Before reinstalling the spark plug, ensure that the spark plug gap is set to .028 inches. Once the spark plug is reinstalled, tighten it with a spark plug wrench. Be careful not to overtighten the spark plug, as this can damage the threads in the cylinder head.
