APPLICATION NOTE Renesas Synergy™ Project R30AN0244EU0103 Rev.1.03 Feb 12, 2016 NetX™ Web Server 1. Introduction This application note shows how to use a Synergy Software Package (SSP) Project in the Renesas Synergy™ e2 studio to develop a simple NetX web server application. 2. Connect to the Board This section describes how to connect the board to power, the J-Link debugger to the PC, and to run the debug the application to see it in action. 1. Refer to the Quick Start Guide for PE-HMI1, DK-S7G2, or SK-S7G2 for setting up the power connection and the J-link debugger connection from your PC to the JTAG connector on the target board. 2. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Target board. 3. Connect the other end of the cable to the PC through a switch, crossover cable, or straight through to the PC using an Auto MDI-X capable port. NOTE: For the DK-S7G2 board, set DIPSW S5 “ENET1” switch to ON, and use the Main Board Ethernet 1 port only. 3. Import the Project into e2 studio Refer to the "Synergy Project Import Guide" (r11an0023eu0100_synergy_ssp.pdf) for instructions on importing the project into e2 Studio and building the project. 1. BEFORE you build the project but after importing it, notice the static IP address of the board is specified in “/src/demo_nx_dns_http_application.c” on the following line. #define SERVER_IP_ADDRESS IP_ADDRESS(192,168,1,180) UPDATE THE ADDRESS so it will not conflict with any other computers or devices on your network. Notice that the IP address numbers are comma-separated. 2. 4. Use the “Webserver Debug” configuration when debugging. Configuring your Network This section guides you through the process of determining the IP address that you will be using to run the web server. There are two methods that can be used to accomplish this: Method 1: Connecting the board to a network with a DHCP server 1. Open a command prompt on your PC. 2. Run command ‘ipconfig’. 3. Look for the IP address (IPv4) of the Ethernet interface that you set using the IP_ADDRESS #define. Method 2: Connecting the board directly to an Ethernet port on a PC with a crossover cable. Note: Many PCs today can operate with either a regular cable or a cross over cable and will automatically detect the kind of cable attached. 1. Open a command prompt on your PC. 2. Click on Local Area Connection and then ‘properties’ 5. In the dialog box, highlight 'Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ and click ‘Properties’. 6. In the window that pops up, select the radio button ‘Use the following IP address:’. 7. Enter your IP Address. (We set it to 192.168.1.180) 8. Set the field ‘Subnet mask:’ to ‘255.255.255.0’. 9. Click ‘OK’ then ‘Close’. Application Features This section describes the features of the Next Web Server demo application and the steps needed to run the application. If you properly configured, built, and ran your Webserver application you should see the orange light illuminated on the board near Ethernet connector: 1. In a command prompt window on your PC enter the command ‘ping <your IP address>. In our case it was ‘ping 192.168.1.180’. You should see something similar to this: 2. In a web browser enter your IP address in the text field where you normally place a URL, like www.google.com. A-1 General Precautions in the Handling of Microprocessing Unit and Microcontroller Unit Products The following usage notes are applicable to all Microprocessing unit and Microcontroller unit products from Renesas. For detailed usage notes on the products covered by this document, refer to the relevant sections of the document as well as any technical updates that have been issued for the products. 1. Handling of Unused Pins Handle unused pins in accordance with the directions given under Handling of Unused Pins in the manual. The input pins of CMOS products are generally in the high-impedance state. In operation with an unused pin in the open-circuit state, extra electromagnetic noise is induced in the vicinity of LSI, an associated shoot-through current flows internally, and malfunctions occur due to the false recognition of the pin state as an input signal become possible. Unused pins should be handled as described under Handling of Unused Pins in the manual. 2. Processing at Power-on The state of the product is undefined at the moment when power is supplied. The states of internal circuits in the LSI are indeterminate and the states of register settings and pins are undefined at the moment when power is supplied. In a finished product where the reset signal is applied to the external reset pin, the states of pins are not guaranteed from the moment when power is supplied until the reset process is completed. In a similar way, the states of pins in a product that is reset by an on-chip power-on reset function are not guaranteed from the moment when power is supplied until the power reaches the level at which resetting has been specified. 3. Prohibition of Access to Reserved Addresses Access to reserved addresses is prohibited. The reserved addresses are provided for the possible future expansion of functions. Do not access these addresses; the correct operation of LSI is not guaranteed if they are accessed. 4. Clock Signals After applying a reset, only release the reset line after the operating clock signal has become stable. When switching the clock signal during program execution, wait until the target clock signal has stabilized. When the clock signal is generated with an external resonator (or from an external oscillator) during a reset, ensure that the reset line is only released after full stabilization of the clock signal. Moreover, when switching to a clock signal produced with an external resonator (or by an external oscillator) while program execution is in progress, wait until the target clock signal is stable. 5. Differences between Products Before changing from one product to another, i.e. to a product with a different part number, confirm that the change will not lead to problems. The characteristics of Microprocessing unit or Microcontroller unit products in the same group but having a different part number may differ in terms of the internal memory capacity, layout pattern, and other factors, which can affect the ranges of electrical characteristics, such as characteristic values, operating margins, immunity to noise, and amount of radiated noise. When changing to a product with a different part number, implement a system-evaluation test for the given product. Notice 1.
