Foreword Celcia 20 is a digital clock thermostat and weather compensator for controlling the room temperature. This document describes its main functions and is sufficient for the majority of its uses. A special document for advanced use has been written for the installer. You can download this from our Internet site, uk.remeha.com, or order it separately from us. OT-BUS DIGI 2. Mounting and putting into operation Fig. 2 Drawing of the base plate and the position of the terminals rotary knob plus/min 2.1 Mounting location reset If you are using Celcia 20 as a clock thermostat or as a weather compensator with room temperature compensation, mount it in a reference room, such as the living room at 1.5 m above floor level. Choose an internal wall for this, where the air can circulate freely. Do not mount Celcia 20 above a heat source such as a candle, TV or radiator. This affects its proper working. OK Escape Info Fig. 1 Photo of the controller with open lid and designation of the buttons 23 ENGLISH If thermostatic valves are fitted in the (reference) room, they need to be far enough open. If these valves were to close at a temperature lower than the temperature set on the controller, no heat could be emitted and the boiler would simply continue to heat without being able to reach the temperature set on the controller. It could become much too warm in other rooms as a result. Any hand-operated valves in this reference room should also be sufficiently open. Connect the controller to the boiler on the appropriate terminals. The 2 wires can be switched round. Ensure that the boiler is switched off during installation. 2.3. Setting the language, date and time When putting it into use for the first time and after pressing the RESET button, the controller asks you to set the language. Use the arrow keys to select the required language and confirm your choice with OK. Then the controller asks if the factory settings have to be activated. Choose, as desired, yes or no. The Celcia 20 subsequently asks for the time and date (hour, minute, year, month, day respectively). Set them with the keys and confirm each time with OK. If you are using Celcia 20 as a weather compensator without room temperature compensation, the location is less important. OK WRONG WRONG WRONG Celcia 20 is now ready for use and is working according to the factory settings. In chapter 4 Programme the clock programme the various settings are explained. NB: 'return to factory settings' means: all the settings are returned to the factory values and Programme P1 is completely deleted. Fig. 3 Recommended mounting location 2.2 Connecting The controller communicates via 2 wires with the boiler using the OpenTherm protocol. So the boiler has to have an OpenTherm input. In the controller the OpenTherm connection has been indicated by the symbol OT-bus. ENGLISH 24 2.4 Opting for weather-compensated heating or room-controlled 3.2 Rotary knob Celcia 20 has a rotary knob for selecting the main functions. In succession they are (from top to bottom): summer programme , standard programme P2 , adjustable programme P1 , constant day temperature , constant lower temperature (ECO-TEMP) and frost resistant . Celcia 20 is both suitable for use as a weather compensator (the heating water temperature is dependent on the outside temperature) or as a room thermostat (the heating water temperature is dependent on the room temperature). Opting for the one or the other control method depends on the way in which the installation is set up (consult your installer). Paragraph 5.1 describes how to switch from one method to the other. The Celcia 20 default setting is for use as a room thermostat. 3.2.1 Summer programme (only hot water according to the permanently set clock pr.) 3. Use The desired temperature is constantly on ECO-TEMP and the hot-water ECO function (paragraph 5.4) runs according to a permanently set programme, which is the same for every day. See table below. See for a description of the warm water ecofunction: 3.1 Explanation of the symbols in the display 1. This programme cannot be changed. In the programmes use is made of 6 temperature levels, i.e. ECO-TEMP, TEMP-1, TEMP-2, TEMP-3, TEMP-4, TEMP-5. These all have pre-programmed temperature values, which can be changed if desired (§ 4.2). In the table the standard set temperatures are stated between brackets. No. Time Mo Tu We Th Fr 1 07:00 • • • • • 2 08:00 3 08:30 4 10:00 5 16:00 • • • • 6 18:00 • • • 7 23:00 • • • • • • Sa Su The desired temperature runs as you programme it yourself. This also applies to the hot-water ECO function. For programming, see 4.3 Programme your own clock programme P1. As standard (and after a reset) there is no programme present! Example: So on Sunday the following programme applies: Time Temperature ECO-TEMP (15.0 °C) (TEMP-5) The desired temperature is constantly on TEMP-5 (§ 4.1) and the hot-water ECO function (§ 5.4) is not active. ECO-TEMP (15.0 °C) 00:00 - 08:00 (programmable 00:00 - 10:00 TEMP-2 (19.0 °C) 3.2.6 Menu 10:00 - 16:00 TEMP-3 (19.4 °C) 16:00 - 18:00 TEMP-4 (20.0 °C) The function MENU is described in chapter 4 and 5. In this position the desired temperature level is set to ECO-TEMP. Do not forget to reset the rotary knob to the desired programme after programming. 18:00 - 23:00 TEMP-5 (20.4 °C) 23:00 - 24:00 ECO-TEMP (15.0 °C) ENGLISH 26 3.2.7 Frost-resistant (frost protection) After 3 seconds the display returns to its normal position. Remark: by connecting the exterior sensor to the boiler you can also read the exterior temperature on the Celcia 20 ! The boiler is only switched on when the room temperature falls below the programmed frost protection temperature (FROST). This value can be set from 6-10 °C. The hot-water ECO function (§ 5.4) is active. 3.4 Change temperature temporarily 3.3 Info key i With the aid of this function you can change the set temperature temporarily in relation to the temperature applicable according to the programme. Short, repeated presses on the info key i make the following values appear on the display one after the other. They are currently applicable values: 1. Press the button. The display shows the set room temperature. • outside temperature (only with connected external sensor, otherwise -.-) • solar boiler temperature (if connected only) • measured room temperature • desired room temperature • time • delivered output (0 means: the boiler is off, 5 means: the boiler is delivering the maximum output) 2. Change this temperature using the keys. After 3 seconds the display returns to its normal position and the changed temperature is active. The following values appear only if the rotary knob is in the MENU position and if the Celcia Gateway is connected. This change is active until the next switch point in the clock programme. • burning hours for central heating • number of boiler starts for central heating • burning hours for hot water • number of boiler starts for hot water • set the counters of burning hours and boiler starts at zero If the rotary knob is on Constant day temperature, Constant lower temperature, Frost-resistant or Summer, the change will apply until the rotary knob is put in a different position. 27 ENGLISH 3.5 Fireplace function 3.6 Party function/overtime timer / gone-for-a-while function A fireplace or gas heater provides an atmosphere and is comfortable, but has an undesirable side effect on the central heating: in the rest of the house it becomes cold. This is only applicable if the Celcia 20 is being used as a room regulator. Specifically for those situations Celcia 20 is equipped with the Fireplace function. You only have to use this function if it threatens to become cold in the other rooms. With this function you fix the temperature for a specific period, irrespective of the clock programme. Upon expiry of the set period, Celcia 20 continues the clock program. Activation Activation Press the Info key i for 3 seconds. The following text appears on the display: FIREPLACE. Celcia 20 will now no longer take into account the temperature it is measuring in the room, but will hold on to the last calculated heating water temperature. However, changes to the set room temperature (using the keys or the clock programme) will be taken into account. If an external sensor is connected, Celcia 20 will control according the heating curve (see 5.1). In the option MENU the Celcia 20 will continue to show ROOM CONTROLLED. Close the radiator valves in the vicinity of the fireside as required to prevent it from becoming too warm there. Press the arrow keys simultaneously for 2 seconds. 2 The text PERIOD and a flashing clock appear in the display. Set the desired period for this function (in steps of 10 min.) and press OK. 3 Set the desired temperature. 4 After 3 seconds the display returns to its normal position. The symbol PARTY or ECO does appear, though. 1 2 3 PER. IOD 4 PROG Premature deactivation To end the function prematurely and return to the normal clock program, press the ‚ keys simultaneously for 2 seconds. Press OK or wait about 3 seconds. Deactivation Press the info key i for 3 seconds again and do not forget to reopen the radiator valves. ENGLISH 1 28 : 5 6 7 3.7 Holiday programme Celcia 20 contains a holiday programme, which allows you to control the temperature to e.g. ECO-TEMP level for a specific period. For instance: You are going on holiday from 3 July 2005 - 1 August 2005. You can pre-set this period. During the holiday period the following text is on the display: HOLIDAY 5 Define which temperature has to be active in the set period. 6 Now set the rotary knob in a different position in order to return to the normal mode. Return the rotary knob to the desired programme and close the lid. ECO-TEMP/ TEMP-5/ FROST Setting Deactivation 1 Set the rotary knob on MENU. 1 MENU 2 3 4 Go to the HOLIDAY option (suitcase symbol flashes) and press OK. If a holiday programme has already been set, the flashing text CHECK appears. Press OK to view. If no holiday programme has been set yet, the controller asks you to set the start moment and the end moment. Set the value and confirm each time with OK. N.B.: the start moment must not be the same as the end moment, otherwise the error message ERROR appears. Set the rotary knob on MENU. MENU HOLIDAY CHECK 2 Go to the HOLIDAY option (suitcase symbol flashes) and press OK. 3 Use the keys to select the CLEAR option and press OK. 4 HOLIDAY CHECK Return the rotary knob to the desired programme and close the lid. Select WITH SUM/WINT or NO SUM/WINT. In the latter case, proceed to step 6. 5 Celcia 20 switches automatically from summer to winter time and vice versa. The moment of switching differs per region in the world. Four regions have been pre-programmed, but if you want a different time can be set. A number of standards have been pre-programmed (USA/CAN, SF/GR/TR, GB/P, EUROPE). Select from these and confirm with OK. It is also possible to define a different moment. 6 Return the rotary knob to the desired programme and close the lid. 1 Fig. 11 Set time/date and switch summer/winter time 5.3 Set time/date and summer/winter time Set the rotary knob on MENU. ENGLISH TIME/DATE 36 WITH SUM/WINT 5.4 Hot-water ECO function You can switch the warm water ECO-function on or off by following the steps below: Combi-boilers and boilers with a separate water heater usually have a heat-retention function. This means that the hot water is kept at a specific minimum temperature. If you require no hot water for a longer period, it is unnecessary and a waste of energy. Celcia 20 has been set in such a way that if you opt for the pre-programmed temperature ECOTEMP, the hot-water ECO function is active. The reaction to this differs per boiler: 1 Set the rotary knob on MENU. MENU • Combi-boiler with flow switch: the system is not kept hot; when you open the hot water • Combi-boiler with temperature sensor: the system is not kept hot; when you open the hot-water valve, you get hot water as usual in most situations (depending on the cooling down speed of the boiler). In some cases this may take a bit longer. 2 Go to SETTINGS and press OK. 3 Go to CONTROLLER and press OK. 4 Now opt for DHW ECO and select the value you want (ON or OFF). Confirm with OK. 5 Return the rotary knob to the desired programme and close the lid. CONTROLLER Fig. 12 Activation and deactivation of the hot-water ECO function • Central heating boiler with external hot-water storage heater: the water heater is not kept hot; when you open the valve you only get the hot water still present in the water heater. NB: if the boiler is emptied, it takes a long time before warm water becomes available again. Therefore, for boilers, we also advise switching off the warm water ECO-function. Tip: if, for instance, you want to heat the boiler once at 5 o'clock at night, without the boiler going into operation for central heating, set TEMP-1 at the same value as ECO-TEMP and programme in P1 e.g. from 5:00 - 6:00 hours TEMP-1. 37 ENGLISH 5.5 Calibrate sensor 5.6 Set control parameters You can calibrate the sensor in Celcia 20 by hanging an accurate thermometer next to the controller. The menu contains Sensor Adjust for that. For instance, if the controller is indicating 0.2 °C too low, set the value at +0.2 °C. Because there are different types of heating systems, there are also different control parameters. The following table shows the optimal settings for 3 types of systems. 1 Floor heating Radiators Set the rotary knob on MENU. Confirm with OK. 5 Return the rotary knob to the desired programme and close the lid. I-value 95 85 The influence of the set control parameters is as follows: P-value: in the case of a greater value the Celcia 20 reacts fiercely to changes in the desired room temperature I-value: in the case of a greater value the Celcia 20 adjusts in the long term calmly to the set temperature. So in cold periods the boiler will start heating sooner than in warm periods. Celcia 20 calculates itself how much earlier the boiler has to start heating. The detailed installer's guide describes how to change this function. 39 ENGLISH 5.9 Digital input 6. Fault clearing Celcia 20 has a digital input. You can use this for an external timer for example. This function is described in the detailed installer's guide. The table below shows a number of faults with their possible cause and solution. Fault 5.10 Celcia Gateway With an optional Celcia Gateway more functions become available, such as calling in with a telephone, fault reporting and solar boiler efficiency thermostat function. For this, please refer to the documentation belonging to this module (parameter pin). 5.11 Other parameters that have not been mentioned in this document This guide does not describe every menu item because it would cause unnecessary confusion. For this, please refer to the detailed document for the installer (uk.remeha.com). This regards: frost protection pump, pump off day, pump off night, booster and Dhw-Temp, legionel. When I get up in the morning, it takes a long time before the warm water gets hot. The warm water ecofunction is active (thermostat is still in lower night setting). Have the thermostat move onto a comfort temperature earlier or deactivate the warm water eco-function (see chapter 5.4) The boiler continues to burn although the room temperature is already above the set value. Celcia 20 will already be moving onto the next switch point. This is normal. You can set the max. warm-up time to 0. This will have the result that in the morning it will no longer be warm by the set time. • Programme an ascending temperature flow: you often need less heat in the morning than in the afternoon. • Finally: set the temperature a bit lower; that soon saves a few percent in gas and electricity. 1 degree lower uses 7 % less gas. 7.2 Maintenance and service Celcia 20 requires no maintenance. Clean the device only with a dry or damp, supple, non-fluffy cloth. Make sure that no water gets into the interior of the device! 7.3 Putting the device out of operation and removal 7. Other aspects At the end of its life, the controller has to be professionally removed and processed in an environment-friendly manner according to the national regulations. 7.1 Economical heating To use as little energy as possible, it is important that the controller is correctly set. Here are some tips: If you have any questions, please contact the manufacturer or the sales office concerned in your country. • Make use of the hot-water ECO function (§ 5.4) • Let the controller go to night reduction a bit earlier in the evening (a house does not cool down that fast). • If you are going to bed earlier than is programmed, lower the set temperature with the key. • Use the gone-for-a-while-function (§ 3.6). • Make use of the gone-for-a-while function (§ 3.6). Contact addresses are shown on the back of guide. 41 ENGLISH 7.4 Technical details Control precision: Temp. measuring range: Temp. adjustment range: Memory locations: Protection level: Protection class: Supply: Communication protocol: Dimensions (h x w x t): Design standards: Running reserve: ENGLISH 0.2 °C (at normal use) 0 °C - 50 °C, scale division 0.1 °C 6 °C - 30 °C, skale division 0.2 °C 21 II according to EN 60730-1 IP 20 according to EN 60529-1 from the boiler OpenTherm 145 x 99 x 30 mm EN 50081 (Generic emission standard) EN 50081-1 (Domestic, commercial or high-industrial environment) EN 50082 (Generic immunity standard) EN 50082-2 (Industrial, scientific or medical environment) Gastec OpenTherm Conformance tests 4 hours minimum 42 1 2 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 3 3.1 3.2 3.2.1 3.2.2 3.2.3 3.2.4 3.2.5 3.2.6 3.2.7 3.3 3.4 3.5 3.6 3.7 4 4.1 4.2 4.3 44 44 44 45 45 46 46 46 46 46 47 47 47 47 47 48 48 48 49 49 50 51 51 51 4.3.1 4.3.2 4.3.3 4.3.4 4.3.5 5 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 5.5 5.6 5.7 5.8 5.9 5.10 5.11 6 7 7.1 7.2 7.3 7.4 52 53 53 54 54 55 55 56 57 58 59 59 60 60 61 61 61 62 62 62 62 63 2.1 Montageort Drehknopf plus/minus reset OK Escape Info DIGI 44 3 6 9 12 15 18 21 Warmwasser-ECOFunktion 00:00 - 06:00 AN 06:00 - 23:00 AUS 23:00 - 00:00 AN 24h 46 3.2.2 Standardprogramm P2 Mo Di Mi Do Fr 1 07:00 • • • • • 2 08:00 3 08:30 • • • • • 4 10:00 Sa So Temperatur TEMP-2 (19.0 °C) • • TEMP-2 (19.0 °C) 3.2.4 Konstante Tagestemperatur ECO-TEMP (15.0 °C) • • TEMP-3 (19.4 °C) TEMP-4 (20.0 °C) 5 16:00 • • • • • • • 6 18:00 • • • • • • • TEMP-5 (20.4°C) 7 23:00 • • • • • • • ECO-TEMP (15.0 °C) Temperatur 00:00 - 08:00 ECO-TEMP (15.0 °C) (TEMP-5) (ECO-TEMP) 00:00 - 10:00 TEMP-2 (19.0 °C) 10:00 - 16:00 TEMP-3 (19.4 °C) 16:00 - 18:00 TEMP-4 (20.0 °C) 3.2.6 Menü 18:00 - 23:00 TEMP-5 (20.4 °C) 23:00 - 24:00 ECO-TEMP (15.0 °C) 48 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 PROG : ECO-TEMP/ TEMP-5 5 6 ECO-TEMP/ TEMP-5/ FROST 1 MENU 2 3 4 2 ABFRAGEN 3 4 Temperatur Tag 51 1 1 2 3 4 5 2 3 4 5 6 7 SOLL TEMP TEMP-1 ENDE MENU 52 P U N K T.
