INSTALLATION
- ATTENTION FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE IT IS IMPORTANT
TO FOLLOW ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS.
FOLLOW ALL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1° - This handbook is exclusively addressed to the specialized
personnel who knows the constructive criteria and the protection
devices against the accidents for motorized gates, doors and
main doors (follow the standards and the laws in force).
2° - The installer will have to issue to the final user a handbook in
accordance with the EN 12635.
3° - Before proceeding with the installation, the installer must forecast
the risks analysis of the final automatized closing and the safety
of the identified dangerous points (following the standards EN
12453/EN 12445).
4° - The wiring harness of the different electric components external
to the operator (for example photoelectric cells, flashlights etc.)
must be carried out according to the EN 60204-1 and the
modifications to it done in the point 5.2.2 of the EN 12453.
5° - The possible assembly of a keyboard for the manual control of the
movement must be done by positioning the keyboard so that the
person operating it does not find himself in a dangerous position;
moreover, the risk of accidental activation of the buttons must be
reduced.
6° - Keep the automatism controls (push-button panel, remote control
etc.) out of the children way. The controls must be placed at a
minimum height of 1,5mt from the ground and outside the range
of the mobile parts.
7° - Before carrying out any installation, regulation or maintenance
operation of the system, take off the voltage by operating on the
special magnetothermic switch connected upstream it.
THE RIB COMPANY DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY
for possible damages caused by the non observance during the
installation of the safety standards and of the laws in force at present.

KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS WITH CARE
1° - Install a thermal magnetic switch (omnipolar, with a minimum
contact opening of 3 mm) before the control board, in case this is
not provided with it. The switch shall be guaranteed by a mark of
compliance with international standards. Such a device must be
protected against accidental closing (e.g. Installing it inside the
control panel key locked container).
2° - As far as the cable section and the cable kind are concerned, RIB
suggests to use an H05RN-F cable, with a minimum section of
1,5mm2, and to follow, In any case, the IEC 364 standard and
Installation regulations In force In your Country.
3° - Positioning of an eventual pair of photocells: The beam of the
photocells must be at an height not above the 70 cm from the
ground, and, should not be more than 20 cm away from the axis
of operation of the gate (Sliding track for sliding gate or door, and
the hinges for the swing gate). In accordance with the point 7.2.1
of EN 12445 their correct functioning must be checked once the
whole installation has been completed.
4° - In order to comply with the limits defined by the EN 12453 norm,
if the peak force is higher than the limit of 400N set by the norm,
it is necessary to use an active obstacle detection system on the
whole height of the gate (up to a maximum of 2,5m) - The
photocells in this case must be apply externally between the
colums and internally for all the race of the mobil part every
60÷70cm for all the height of the column of the gate up to a
maximum of 2,5m (EN 12445 point 7.3.2.1). example: column
height 2,2m => 6 copies of photocells - 3 internal and 3 external
(better if complete of syncronism feature - FIT SYNCRO with TX
SYNCRO).
N.B.: The system must be grounded
Data described by this manual are only Indicative and RIB reserves to
modify them at any time. Install the system complying with current
standards and regulations.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
➌
➋
➍
PRINCE is a linear operator suitable for opening gates with a leaf
length of up to 2 meters and a weight of up to 250 kg (Fig. 1).
The PRINCE operators use built-in mechanical stoppers, thus avoiding
the need for electrical limit switches.
PRINCE 24V PLUS is already equipped with a built-in Encoder to
sense obstacle while closing or opening. The Encoder permits the
proper stop at the end of travel for opening and closing.
On reaching the stopper, PRINCE 24V PLUS model stops
automatically following the command gived by the built-in Encoder.
N.B.: When installing PRINCE 24V it is advisable to instal an
electrical lock to ensure an efficient locking of the gate.
PRINCE 24V PLUS, owing to Encoder, is already equipped with
the ABIS (Anti Break-in System) function, to keep the gate closed.

INSTALLATION PRINCE
PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKS
The leaf must be fixed firmily on the hinges to the pillars, must not be flexible
during the movement and must move without frictions.
Before the installation of PRINCE, verify all dimensions etc.
There's no need for any modification, if the gate is like that shown in Fig. 1.
N.B.: Gate features must be uniformed with the standards and laws in force.
The door/gate can be automated only if it is in a good condition and
its conditions comply with the EN 12604 norm.
- The door/gate leaf does not have to have a pedestrian opening. In the
opposite case it is necessary to take the appropriate steps, in accordance
with EN 12453 norm (for instance; by preventing the operation of the motor
when the pedestrian opening is opened, by installing a safety microswitch
connected with the control panel).
Parts to install meeting the EN 12453 standard

and/or other safety devices to keep thrust force within the limits of EN12453
regulation - Appendix A.
D: Photocells, like code ACG8026
To move the gate manually it is necessary to release the operator inserting
the special key and turning it 90° in the anti-clockwise sense (Fig. 3).
In order to carry out the manual operation of the gate leaf the followings
must be checked:
- That the gate is endowed with appropriate handles;
- That these appropriate handles are placed so to avoid safety risks for the
operator;
- That the physical effort necessary to move the gate leaf should not be
higher than 225 N, for doors/gates for private dwellings, and, 390N for
doors/gates for commercial and industrial sites (values indicated in 5.3.5 of
the EN 12453 norm).
3
FIXING THE ACTUATOR ATTACHMENT TO THE COLUMN
To obtain a correct movement of the leaf gate it is necessary to respect the
measures.
In case an iron pillar is available, weld the bracket straight to it.
In case you need to fix the bracket onto a concrete pillar, use the fixing plate
as shown in picture 4, to be fastened with 4 Fischer screws of Ø 8 mm.
In the case you have a wall parallel with the open gate, you must provide a
niche in which to place the operator.
4
5
FIXING THE ACTUATOR ATTACHMENT TO THE GATE
Then weld the second bracket to the gate (pictures 6,7)
Make sure to stick to the measures mentioned in the table below during
installation
Fix the PRINCE and try several times to open and to close the gate,
controlling that the screwcover does not touch the moving gate.

The installation must be installed according to the current regulations
and laws.
It is recommended that the following electronic control units be used:
- KS2 24V for 1 or 2 PRINCE 24V PLUS;
- K2 24V for 1 or 2 PRINCE 24V.
PRINCE has an adjustable deceleration system that slows down the
movement on approaching the travel limit, both when opening and when
closing. PRINCE 24V PLUS is normally connected to control units fitted with
an Encoder reader for the detection of obstacles. If an obstacle is
encountered during movement this operator goes immediately into reverse
so as to prevent any danger of crushing or dragging (as required by new
European regulations EN12453 and EN12445) without having to fit edge
sensors.
24
CONNECTION TO THE POWER SUPPLY
With PRINCE 24Vdc you must connect the blue and brown motors
wires to the plugs MOTORE1 and MOTORE2 of the control board (see
scheme on the page 21).
CONNECTION TO THE ENCODER
PRINCE 24V PLUS units are equipped with a built-in ENCODER to
connect to the electronic control boards (see scheme on the page 22).

The length of connection cables from the motors to the control panel unit must not exceed 15 m. The wire section of the motor power supply must be
1.5 mm2, whilst that of the accessories must be 0,75 mm2. As for the encorder it is very important to use a shielded wire with a section of 0,75 mm2
(for example type ÖLFLEX-110 CH - Code ACG2133). It is compulsory to use shielded cable for the encoder in order to guarantee the correct
operation of the control board. The screen of the ENCODER cable must be earth grounded at one end (not to the card GND), and at the
opposite end the screen must be free (conductor not connected).
To ensure the correct functioning of the installation it is advisable to wire encoder and motor with separate cables.

In order to make the systems mentioned above give the best
performances, you need to install an antenna tuned on the frequency of
the radio receiver installed.
N.B. Pay attention to not let the central wire of the cable to came
Into contact with the external copper sheath, since this would
prevent the antenna from working.
Install the antenna vertically and in such a way the remote control can
reach it.

The time needed to completely charge the 12Vdc 2,2Ah batteries (n° 2
batteries connected in series, optional cod. ACG9515), upon first
installation, is 24 hours, with a charging current of 0.03A.
POWER SUPPLY GATE OPEN INDICATOR AND STATE OF
BATTERY (COM-SIGNAL)
This indicator, in addition to signalling that the gate is open, emits 2
brief flashes followed by a pause of 2 seconds when the gate is closed
and there is no power supply, indicating that it is functioning with the
battery.
Functioning of the gate is guaranteed up to a charging level of
approximately 20V, following which the gate blocks and the indicator
flashes continuously to signal that the battery is low.
Only when voltage returns will the indicator go out and all the controls
be restored (obviously the battery will only recharge when there is
voltage).
N.B.: If you overdo the leds, the board's circuit will suffer from this, with
a possible block of the operations.
FUNCTIONING IN A BLACKOUT (WITH BATTERIES)
If batteries are connected to the control unit, when there is a power cut
the functioning of the gate is guaranteed up to a charging level of
approximately 20V, following which a signal is sent by the recharge card
to the control unit which blocks the gate and makes the battery signal
light flash.
Once voltage returns we recommend that the gate be fully opened.
Allow the gate to close by itself with automatic closure or wait for the
flashing light to stop before giving the command to close.
This operation will allow the gate to realign itself. In fact, if during the
blackout the motors were released and moved from the normal closing
position, the first manoeuvre when the power supply returns must be
complete.
During this phase the safety devices are active.
