If the Elevator Connect is installed in the elevator hoist-way or machine spaces, a licensed
elevator mechanic must be present.
Power is recommended to be from a source that is in a utilization branch. See NEC 6.20 (2011)
Proper reception is essential to reliable service.
1. Pick the correct installation area.
A- Antenna Strength
B- You need 110 VAC power
C- You need to connect “hard-wire” from the EC 1000 to the elevator phone with 2 wires.
(Typical locations include: *Elevator machine room, Telephone/Meter Room, or *Elevator hoist-way.)
2. Mount the Elevator Connect 1000 to the wall. Use the existing mounting holes to make sure
the EC 1000 is secure.
3. Connect the Antenna: Make sure the antenna cord is not wound to tight. Make sure the
antenna is not touching any metal or concrete. The antenna base is magnetic.
4. Connect Power supply: Use the screw in 9vdc power supply. Connect the positive and
negative wires accordingly. The wires and power supply are both labeled for polarity.
5. Turn on Device: Once power and the Antenna are connected turn on the device.
6. Check for Signal Strength; Before going to step #7, make sure you have proper antenna
strength. Reference the LED stats light chart below.
7. Connect the phone line: Use the included RJ-11 phone connector. Connect the existing 2
wires going to the elevator phone and connect to the RED and GREEN wires of the RJ-11
Connector. Use the included “Gel” or “Plain” wire connectors to attached.
LED SIGNAL STENGTH
/From Left to Right)
1. Power - On means power is on, Not running on batter. Off means power is
off, and battery power is being used.
2. Battery- On means the battery is running on battery.
3. Status (green)- Used for status and faults. (only used in troubleshooting)
4. Signal strength #1- “On” means poor antenna strength
5. Signal strength #2 – “On” means average antenna strength
6. Signal strength #3- “On” means full antenna strength. Flashing means
phone is “off-hook”

1. Picking The Correct Location for installation:!
"
"
It is very important to select a spot with access to both: 1) 120vac power outlet & good overall reception/signal
strength. Lights #4 & #5 must both be solid red to acknowledge good reception."
"
1. Typical installation areas:!
" Elevator room*"
" Elevator shaft/ hoist way* (May require different power supply)"
" Telco room"
" Remote room or closet"
" Lobby"
"
2. Power: "
" Access to either 120vac or 12vdc is required for power to the device. The unit comes with a 9-12vdc power
supply. We recommend using a “screw in” plug to prevent accidental or intentional removal of power."
"
3. Signal Strength:!
" Good quality, constant signal strength is important."
"
! At a Minimum; LED lights #4, & #5 should be solid red, constantly, at the same time.!
* Elevator personnel only.
2. Mounting of the device to the wall:!
"
"
1. Make sure the power to the unit is “off”."
2. Make sure to securely mount the device using the (6) mounting holes."
3. Make sure that you can at least open the hinged door a minimum of 90 degrees. (35” clearance in front of the
device is required)"
4. Use the pre-knockouts to route the required conduit and antenna.
3. Connecting the Antenna!
"
*** This Antenna assembly loosens and tightens in REVERSE order. *** BE CAREFUL!!
"
1. Make sure the power to the unit is “off” & Make sure the on/off switch is off."
2. The antenna should be mounted outside of the Elevator Connect 1000 enclosure, it is allowed to mount the
antenna on the EC-1000 box."
3. Make sure the antenna is installed in a location where the antenna is not touching metal or concrete."
4. The Antenna has a magnetic base."
The Installation steps in
more detail.
"
"
"
"
"
4. Connecting Power to the EC-1000 !
" *** Follow the NEC requirements and any A17.1 requirements ***!
"
1. Make sure the power to the unit is “off” & Make sure the on/off switch is in the “off” position."
2. Use the provided 9-12vdc screw in terminal "
3. Use CAT-5A, or 18-22Awg wires to connect the power supply to the EC-1000. (See the NEC code for acceptable wires/cables.)"
4. ***Make sure the Positive and negative wires do not get reversed! !
5. Use the screw to fasten the power supply to the receptacle."
5. Connecting to the elevator phone.!
" *** Do not plug an active analog phone line into the EC-1000’s Rj-11 ports. *** "
BE CAREFUL!!
"
1. Make sure the power to the unit is “off” & Make sure the on/off switch is in the “off” position."
2. Use the phone line that has a RJ-11 connector on one end and 4 wires on the other (red, green, black, yellow)"
3. Connect the 2 wires from the elevator phone to the Red & Green wires using the gel wires connectors."
4. Do not use the yellow & black wires. ( cut or fold the wires back)"
5. Connect the Male Rj-11 connector into any of the 2 female Rj-11 ports on the EC-1000 Pc board.!
"
6. Turning on the Elevator Connect 1000.!
"
"
1. Turn the switch located on the top of the PC board to the “on” position."
