CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Your pistol may be cleaned and lubricated under normal conditions with the disassembly steps described in pages 28-31.

WARNING

In order to keep a firearm safe to use, it must be kept clean and covered with a light film of good quality oil to prevent corrosion. The barrel bore should be cleaned and left free of debris.

Before cleaning, (1) point the muzzle in a safe direction, (2) keep your finger off the trigger,

(3) remove the magazine, then (4) pull back the slide and lock it to the rear, (5) look and feel the magazine well and chamber to confirm the pistol is empty. Never attempt to clean a loaded firearm.

For normal cleaning, rub the pistol with a lightly oiled cloth. In the same way, proceed with the bore of the barrel. Excess oil should be removed.

Dust should be removed from all crevices with a small clean brush.

TX22 COMPETITION OPTICS MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

Do not attempt to install an optic mount on a loaded firearm.

WARNING

Ensure the firearm is not loaded.

WARNING

Wear safety glasses when removing, installing, or firing your pistol with the red dot optic installed.

The Taurus Competition model comes with 2 adapter plates. The table on page 37 of this manual to select the proper adapter plate for your red dot optic. Plates are marked with dots to identify them.

1. Place the desired adapter plate on the base which is mounted on your TX22 competition barrel.

2. Place your red dot optic over the mounting plate and ensure that the bottom of the sight is properly aligned with its corresponding alignment pins on the mounting plate.

3. Use the screws supplied with your red dot optic.

4.Place a small amount of Loctite 262 on the thread of each screw.

5.Screw in the two screws applying 5.3 in-lbs of torque.

6. Let the Loctite cure for a period of 24 hours before using the firearm.

WARNING

Inspect the mounting screws on the red dot optic before firing. A loose optic can detach upon recoil of the firearm and strike you or a bystander and cause injury. Tighten loose mounting screws before firing.
