Installing a New Hot-Swap Disk Module
This section describes the installation of a new hot-swap disk module.
CAUTION Use one of the six (6) vertical shelves in the system. Do not attempt to install the hot-swap disk module in the SCSI device shelves.
Complete the following procedure to install a new disk module:
1. Unlock the hot-swap disk module keylock and remove the filler panel in the disk shelf by pulling the filler panel straight out.
NOTE Do not dispose of the filler panel. If you decide to operate the storage system with the empty bay, it must be covered with a filler panel to ensure proper cooling and RFI compliance.
2. Press the locking tab on the hot-swap disk module down and lift the lever up. Lifting the lever retracts the locking pin at the top of the disk drive.
3. Holding the hot-swap disk module as shown in Figure 3-2, slide the hotswap disk module slowly into the shelf until it stops.
CAUTION When the module stops, it is not flush with the bezel; the module extends about one-quarter inch from the bezel. When you lock the module in place, the module moves to the final position, flush with the bezel. Forcing the module past the first stop may damage the module.
4. Press the lever down until it latches.
