Generalidades

Los equipos de la serie SK son generadores electromecánicos dotados de alimentador de hilo incorporado que se emplean para la soldadura

MIG/MAG.

La simple configuración constructiva de estos generadores exalta la tradicional robustidad y afidabilidad de las soldaduras INE dando al mismo tiempo buenas prestaciones en la soldadura.

Los generadores de la serie MK están construidos en base a las normativas EN 60974:

• en lo que respecta a la prevención del operador de riesgos de origen eléctrico,

• en materia de compatibilidad electromagnética

(inmunidad e interferencias con respecto a los aparatos eléctricos que funcionan en las proximidades del generador).

INE declina toda responsabilidad en caso de uso incorrecto (es.: deshelar tuberías, cargar baterías, etc.) o de modificaciones del equipo de soldadura, efectuadas por el cliente o por terceros, sin autorización escrita emitida por el constructor mismo.

Los generadores de corriente INE son aparatos diseñados para uso profesional. Su utilización está reservada exclusivamente al personal que posea la formación técnica adecuada.

Prevención de riesgos de origen eléctrico

La instalación de la máquina deberá ser ejecutada por personal que se encuentre en posesión de los requisitos técnico-profesionales específicos para ello y conforme a las leyes del estado en el que se lleva acabo la instalación.

Antes de conectar el generador a la red de distribución de energía eléctrica es necesario controlar:

• que la tensión se halle comprendida entre las variaciones ±10% del valor nominal indicado en la chapa de los datos;

• que la instalación eléctrica tenga una eficiente puesta a tierra (tal como está previsto por las normas respectivas) a la cual conectar el hilo amarillo/verde de la máquina;

• la red de distribución de la energía esté dotada del conductor neutro (neutral conductor) conectado con puesta a tierra;

• que el generador se encuentre colocado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado.

Durante el uso de la soldadora, constatar que en el

ámbito de trabajo hayan sido tomadas las siguientes precauciones:

•

evitar que ninguna pieza metálica pueda entrar accidentalmente en contacto con los cables de alimentación;

Introduction

MK welding machines are electromechanical power sources with integrated wire feeder for use in MIG/MAG welding.

The simple design of these power sources underlines the traditional sturdy and reliable construction of INE welding machines, offering however an excellent performance in the welding process.

MK welding machines are constructed according to the following standards EN 60974:

• as far as operators health prevention against electric shocks is concerned.

• as far as electromagnetic compatibility is concerned

(noise disturbing other electrical appliances operating in the vicinity).

INE declines any liability should the welding machine be used incorrectly (ex.: to defrost pipes, to charge

batteries, etc.) or modified by the customer or third parties without any written approval by the manufacturer.

INE generators have been designed for professional use and must be used exclusively by adequately trained persons.

Prevention against electric shocks

The machine must be installed by authorised persons with specific technical and professional know-how, conforming to the laws in force in the country where it is installed.

Before connecting the power source to the mains, always check that:

• the voltage received falls within ±10% allowance of the nominal value displayed on the machine plate;

• the mains input is properly grounded (as provided in the relevant legislation) and the yellow/green wire of the welding machine is connected to the ground;

• the mains supply is equipped with a grounded neutral conductor;

• the power source is in a dry and ventilated place.

When using the welding machine, make sure that the following precautionary measures are taken in the workplace:

• ensure that no metallic body may accidentally get into contact with the power cables;

• do not carry out any welding operation in damp or wet areas;

• ground any metallic parts falling within the operator’s reach;

• keep all flammable materials away from the working· area;

•

ensure that the gas cylinder is secured so as not to hit or be hit by or anyway come into contact with the welding circuit;

• evitar trabajar en ambientes húmedos o mojados;

• poner a tierra las partes metálicas que se encuentran al alcance del operador;

• alejar los productos inflamables;

• fijar los tubos de gas para soldar de manera adecuada para evitar que puedan golpear o ser golpeados en forma abrupta o entrar en contacto con el circuito de soldadura;

• conectar el cable masa del circuito de soldadura con el punto más cercano a la zona en la que se realiza la soldadura misma, con el objeto de disminuir el recorrido de la corriente y los riesgos correspondientes;

• constatar el perfecto estado de las torchas y de los cables eléctricos que constituyen los circuitos de alimentación y de soldadura.

El operador además,debe atenerse a las siguientes normas de conducta:

• no conectar en serie o en paralelo generadores para soldadura;

• en caso en el que dos o más operadores procedan a soldar en piezas eléctricamente conectadas, se les recomienda desempeñar la tarea a distancia adecuada y que un operador no toque simultáneamente las dos torchas o las pinzas portaelectrodo;

• no apoyar la torcha o la pinza portaelectrodo en superficies metálicas para evitar que el equipo se ponga en marcha involuntariamente;

• vestir prendas aisladoras de electricidad.

En casos en que sea necesario colocar el generador en ambientes con alto riesgo de descargas eléctricas se recomienda la conexión a la red de alimentación por medio de un interruptor diferencial de gran sensibilidad

(corriente de desenganche 30 mA, tiempo de aplicación 30 ms).

Dichos ambientes pueden ser:

A) lugares con limitada liberdad de movimientos, que impiden que el operador pueda efectuar la soldadura en posición erecta;

B) lugares rodeados por superficies conductoras con riesgo de ser puestas en contacto de manera involuntaria;

C) lugares mojados, húmedos o calientes.

Prevención de rayos ultravioletas, humos e incendios

El arco eléctrico, necesario para efectuar la soldadura, es un proceso que emite radiaciones ultravioletas. Los operadores, por lo tanto deben protegerse los ojos y la cara con las caretas protectoras con vidrios opacos.

Se indican a continuación los grados de protección DIN recomendados para distintos procedimientos con relación a las corrientes.

• connect the work return lead of the welding circuit to a place as close as possible to the welding area in order to minimise the current path and the relevant risks;

• make sure that welding torches and cables are in perfect condition.

Furthermore, the operator should stick to the following behavioural rules:

• do not connect welding machines in series or parallel;

• in the case two or more welders should operate on electrically connected parts, it is suggested that they work at a suitable distance from each other and that none of them touches two torches or electrode holders at the same time;

• do not place the torch or electrode holder on metallic surfaces: this might be a condition for the machine to be started accidentally;

• always wear insulating garments.

In the case the power source should be introduced into areas characterised by a high risk of electric shocks, it is recommended that the connection to the mains be protected by a highly-sensitive differential circuit breaker (releasing current: 30 mA, operating time: 30 ms).

Such areas are:

A) places offering limited freedom of movement and preventing the operator from standing while working;

B) places surrounded by conductive surfaces that may accidentally come into contact with the welding circuit;

C) wet, damp and hot places.

Prevention against UV rays, fumes and fires

Arc welding is a welding process by which UV rays are emitted. Operators should therefore protect their eyes and faces with suitable face masks or helmets equipped with adequate filter lenses.

Recommended DIN protection grades for filter lenses are listed below according to the different welding procedures and currents used.

MMA welding:

• grade 10 - up to 80 Amps

• grade 11 - from 80 to 180 Amps

• grade 12 - from 180 to 300 Amps

• grade 13 - from 300 to 480 Amps

• grade 14 - above 480 Amps

MIG/MAG welding:

• grade 10 - up to 80 Amps

• grade 11 - from 80 to 120 Amps

• grade 12 - from 120 to 180 Amps

El operador debe llevar guantes,calzado y prendas ignífugos para protegerse contra las radiaciones,las escorias y las chispas incandescentes.

Es oportuno reducir el reflejo y la transmisión de los rayos ultravioletas en el ambiente de trabajo mediante paneles o barreras de protección.

Para evitar la acción nociva de los humos de soldadura se aconseja trabajar en espacios ventilados. En ambientes cerrados se aconseja el empleo de extractores de aire colocados cerca de la zona de soldadura.

En el caso en que la pieza a soldar esté recubierta de productos químicos (solventes, barnices,etc.) es indispensable efectuar una limpieza a fondo de las superficies para impedir la producción de gases tóxicos. Está prohibido hacer soldaduras en recipientes de combustibles contenedores de material inflamable aunque estén vacíos.

Mantenimiento

Toda reparación o sustitución de partes del equipo debe ser ejecutada por personal autorizado e idóneo para actuar en el sector de equipamiento electromecánico. Al operador le está permitido sacar los paneles de la carrocería (previa desconexión del generador de la línea de alimentación) exclusivamente para sacar los depósitos de polvo y de suciedad aspirados en el interior. Esta operación debe hacerse con un soplo de aire comprimido por los menos cada tres meses. Se aconseja aumentar la frecuencia de limpieza si se trabaja en ambientes con mucho polvo.

• grade 14 - from 300 to 450 Amps

TIG welding:

• grade 10 - up to 40 Amps

• grade 11 - from 40 to 100 Amps

• grade 12 - from 100 to 180 Amps

• grade 13 - from 180 to 250 Amps

• grade 14 - from 250 to 400 Amps

• grade 15 - above 400 Amps

Operators should wear gauntlets, insulating shoes and fireproof clothes to protect themselves from radiation, slags and sparks.

Reflection and transmission of UV rays in workplaces should be reduced by using antiflash welding screens or panels.

In order to reduce the toxic action of welding fumes, it is suggested to operate in ventilated areas. Use fume extractors close to the welding area, if ventilation is poor or lacking.

If the piece to be welded is covered by chemicals

(solvents, paints, etc.), it should be carefully cleaned prior to welding to prevent toxic gas emission.

It is strictly forbidden to weld on fuel tanks, whether they are full or empty.

Maintenance

Any repair work or replacement of spares should be carried out by skilled personnel, qualified to operate on electromechanical systems.

Welders are allowed to remove the side panels of the welding machine (after disconnecting it from the

mains) only to remove any dust or dirt that may have been taken in. Such operation, to be carried out by applying a compressed air jet, is to be repeated at least every three months. This frequency should be increased if operating in very dusty places.

Check each day that there are no powder deposits and broken pieces of wire on the wire feeder. If this is the case, clean carefully so as to avoid any electric contact with the machine body.

Diariamente además, controlar que cerca del grupo de tracción no se hayan formado depósitos de polvo o hayan quedado pedazos de hilo cortados. En tal caso limpiar cuidadosamente, evitando contactos eléctricos con la carcasa de la máquina.

Compatibilidad electromagnética (EMC)

Los equipos para soldadura INE son aparatos a utilizar exclusivamente en ambiente industrial (CLASE A del

CISPR11). Su utilización en ambientes distintos (por ejemplo el ambiente doméstico) puede ocasionar problemas de compatibilidad con aparatos que funcionan en proximidad (radio, teléfonos, computadoras, etc.).

Es de competencia del usuario la instalación del generador y el uso del mismo en ambientes adecuados y no susceptibles desde el punto de vista EMC. Al evaluar los ambientes en cuestión hay que considerar la presencia de:

• líneas y aparatos telefónicos

• aparatos radiotelevisivos receptores y transmisores

• computadoras y equipamientos de mando

• equipamientos de seguridad

• instrumentos de medida

Particular atención deben prestar las personas portadoras de estimuladores cardíacos y de aparatos bioelectrónicos semejantes potencialmente susceptibles a los campos electromagnéticos. A estas personas se les recomienda especialmente no acercarse a los lugares en los que se llevan a cabo los procesos de soldadura.

Si por casualidad se verifican perturbaciones electromagnéticas, la responsabilidad de resolver la situación es de competencia del usuario, a quien INE como constructor, ofrece la más completa asistencia.

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

INE welding machines are conceived for use in industrial applications only (CLASS A of CISPR11). If they are used differently (e.g. for domestic use), they may cause compatibility problems, as they may interfere with other electrical appliances operating in the vicinity (radios, phones, computers, etc.).

It’s the user’s responsibility to install the power source and use it in the proper places so that no EMC problems may arise. When judging the suitability of a workplace, the presence of the following should be considered:

• telephone lines and sets

• receiving and transmitting radio/TV sets

• computers and control devices

• safety devices

• measuring instruments.

Special attention should be paid to people with pace-makers and similar bio-electronic devices since they may be influenced by electromagnetic fields.

These people are strongly suggested to keep away from any places in which welding is going on.

In the event electromagnetic disturbance should occur, it’s the user’s responsibility to solve the situation; INE, as the manufacturer of the welding set in use, is ready to assist.

Soldadura MIG/MAG: procedimientos y datos técnicos

El procedimiento MIG/MAG utiliza, para soldar aceros comunes y de baja aleación, un hilo de acero cobreado y un gas activo (CO

o bien Argon-CO

Para soldar aceros INOX es necesario usar el hilo del material correspondiente a aquél que debe soldarse y el gas debe ser una mezcla Argon-CO

-O

Para soldar aluminio hay que usar un tipo de hilo compatible con el material y Argon puro como gas; se aconseja además que la vaina de la torcha sea de teflon.

El equipo de soldadura MIG/MAG se forma en presencia de:

• una fuente de corriente continua

• un alimentador

• una torcha con cable

• un tubo de gas con reductor y medidor de flujo

MIG/MAG welding: procedures and technical data

MIG/MAG welding is a method used to weld carbon and low-alloy steels in an inert environment (CO

Argon/CO

) with the help of a solid or cored steel wire.

To weld stainless steel, the wire should match the characteristics of the material being welded, and the gas should be a mixture of Argon/CO

To weld aluminium, the wire should be a type compatible with the material and the gas should be pure

Argon; moreover, the use of a Teflon torch liner is suggested.

A MIG/MAG welding machine is essentially made up by:

• a dc power source (welding machine)

• a wire feeder

• a torch and a cable

• a gas cylinder with a flow meter and regulator

Durante el proceso de soldadura la torcha es conducida a mano por el soldador a lo largo de la junción a realizar mientras el hilo, hecho avanzar por el alimentador, se funde y forma el cordón de soldadura.

Es oportuno empezar a soldar bajo la supervisión de un experto.

Es necesario, en efecto, un aprendizaje mínimo para:

• la regulación de los parámetros

• evitar la producción de proyecciones

La regulación de los parámetros consiste en identificar el equilibrio justo entre la tensión y la velocidad del hilo necesario para efectuar una soldadura correcta. Las tablas de la página 8 indican algunos valores al respecto.

When welding, the torch is manoeuvred by the operator along the joint while the wire is fed into the weld pool by the wire feeder and forms the weld bead.

It is suggested that instruction should be sought as to how the machine operates in the case of first use. As a matter of fact, a basic knowledge of the welding procedure is necessary to be able to adjust welding parameters and to avoid spattering.

The adjustment of welding parameters consists in finding out the correct balance between voltage and wire speed to achieve a good-looking weld bead. The tables on page 8 report some reference values.

Para evitar las proyecciones hay que colocar la torcha en el modo optimo respecto al cordón de soldadura a efectuar. Para ello es necesario además, evitar la aparición de un fenómeno particular que se manifiesta como una desviación del arco debido a las fuerzas electromagnéticas en juego: el soplo magnético.

Éste fenómeno se produce principalmente en las soldaduras de esquina y en los ángulos internos de las piezas encajadas. Para reducirlo puede resultar útil orientar la torcha en sentido opuesto a la desviación del arco y elegir oportunamente el punto de conexión de la raiz.

Hay que poner particular atención en la soldadura de espesores delgados o bien en la primera pasada en raiz, porque hay riesgo de perforar el material.

Desde el punto de vista físico existen dos procesos de fusión del material de aportación y de su transferencia del hilo al baño de soldadura:

• SHORT-ARC (arco corto)

In order to avoid spattering, the correct torch position from the workpiece should be maintained. In this regard, special attention should be paid to a phenomenon that generally takes places as an arc deviation due to the electromagnetic forces at issue: the magnetic blow. Such phenomenon mainly occurs when welding angles or the inner corners of box-type pieces.

In order to reduce it, it is suggested to maintain the torch in the opposite direction to the arc deviation, and to choose an adequate point where the work return lead should be connected.

Special attention is also to be paid to the welding of thin materials or in the first pass of bevelled joints, as the material might be pierced. In such cases welding with low current values is suggested (short arc).

Two weld metal transfer methods are available in

MIG/MAG welding:

• SHORT ARC

• SPRAY ARC

• SPRAY-ARC (arco a rociado)

El primer proceso se dá por tensiones de arco inferiores de 24V y por intensidad de corrientes relativamente bajas (menores de 200 A/mm2). En este procedimiento la fusión del hilo sucede por corto circuito porque el hilo mismo entra en contacto con el baño de soldadura provocando la transferencia del material en gotas. A la vista el arco aparece corto y se aconseja mantener el tubito conductor de corriente sobresaliendo de 2-3 mm respecto a la boquilla del gas.

Este procedimiento se emplea en cualquier posición de soldadura (plana, angular, vertical) y en general donde se requieran bajos valores de corriente para evitar deformaciones y traspasos: espesores delgados, primeras pasadas etc.

El spray-arc, en cambio, es un proceso que requiere valores de tensión y de corriente más altos, en el que a la fusión del metal sigue la pulverización del mismo en pequeñas gotas y de allí su traslado hacia el baño de soldadura.

SHORT ARC is used with arc voltage values lower than

24V and relatively low welding current values (lower than 200 A/mm

). With this method the wire melts as it is short-circuited by its own contact with the weld pool, which causes the transfer of the molten drops. The arc length is short, so the contact tip should protrude by 2-3 mm from the nozzle.

This method can be used in all positions (butt, fillet and vertical welding) and generally in those cases such as thin materials, first passes, etc., where low current values are requested to prevent deformation and piercing.

SPRAY ARC is on the contrary a welding method which requires higher voltage and current values and in which the weld metal when melting is sprayed into the weld pool. The arc length is more evident and its intensity is greater. The contact tip should be set back from the nozzle (between 5 and 10 mm, as the welding current is increased).

Visualmente el arco presenta una cierta longitud y su luminosidad es mayor. Se aconseja mantener la punta de contacto retrasado respecto a la boquilla del gas

(entre 5 y 10 mm, al aumentar la corriente erogada).

Este procedimiento es empleado solamente para las soldaduras en plano de espesores elevados

(superiores a los 4 mm) donde es necesaria una elevada velocidad de depósito material. Observar que cuanto mayor es la longitud del arco (correspondiente a mayor tensión V) y, a paridad de corriente A, mayores resultan el ancho y el aplastamiento del cordón de soldadura. En otros términos, levantando la tensión se ensancha el “cono de depósito” del material.

Una anotación particular merece, a este punto, el procedimiento de soldadura MIG/MAG de arco pulsado. Se caracteriza por tener una marcha de corriente no constante sino a impulsos de valor elevado. Entre un impulso y otro es erogado un valor de corriente mínimo necesario solamente para tener prendido el arco sin fundir el material. De este modo es posible bajar el valor promedio de la corriente de soldadura aun saldando en spray-arc. Se pueden así obtener las ventajas de este último procedimiento (alta calidad de la soldadura por efecto de la pulverización del material fundido y la posibilidad de variar el ancho del cordón) aun en bajos valores de corriente típicos de los espesores pequeños y de las soldaduras no en plano.

This method is only used in flat position of butt and fillet welds on material of 4 mm and above, where a higher deposition speed is required. The greater the arc length

(corresponding to a greater voltage V), with equal current A, the wider and flatter the weld bead. This means that by increasing the voltage the “deposition cone” of the weld material widens.

At this point, special mention is deserved by the pulsed-arc MIG/MAG welding procedure, which is characterised by a non-constant, high-value pulse current flow. Between pulses the current value is at a minimum so as to keep the arc on without melting the material. Thus the average welding current value can be reduced even if welding with the spray-arc method.

So the advantages of this method (high-quality welds thanks to the spraying of the molten metal, and the variable weld bead width) can be achieved even at low current values, typical of the welding of thin materials and of welding positions other than butt welding.

Tratamos en conclusión, el concepto de synergía. En una instalación synergía la relación tensión-corriente de soldadura no es predeterminada por parte del operador, a quien queda la elección de la potencia del arco a utilizar para soldar. La máquina, en efecto, provee automáticamente los parámetros indicados en las tablas siguientes. De esta manera se evita perder el tiempo en regular los parámetros mientras el funcionamiento es optimo respecto a la disminución de las proyecciones.

To complete the topic, also the concept of synergy

(synchronisation) is to be mentioned. In a sync welding machine, the couple welding voltage / welding current is not set by the operator, who is only given the choice of the arc power. In fact, the machine automatically delivers the parameters reported in the tables below.

This way time is saved since the welding parameters are automatically adjusted and this optimal functioning guarantees an almost spatter-free welding.

Instalación y preparación para el funcionamiento

Set-up

Al instalar la máquina es necesario seguir cuidadosamente las indicaciones precedentes relativas a la seguridad. La instalación consiste principalmente en la unión del generador a la red.

Conecte el cable de alimentación a un enchufe que tenga la capacidad adecuada de corriente y meta los

fusibles de línea retardados con un valor nominal adecuado, como especifica la tabla

CARACTERISTICAS TECNICAS (página 23).

Además, poner mucha atención en que el hilo

amarillo-verde, correspondiente a la conección de tierra, esté en efecto correctamente conectado con el equipo de puesta a tierra (para garantizar la protección del operador mismo).

Después de la instalación, para poner en marcha la máquina es necesario ejecutar las siguientes operaciones:

• Colocar la bobina de hilo en el carrete, teniendo en cuenta el sentido del desenrrollo del hilo. Aplicar el rodillo desplazador correspondiente al diámetro del hilo empleado. Tener cuidado con la correcta fijación de la bobina del hilo. ¡PELIGRO! No intervenir en las ruedas dentadas del motor de tracción del hilo

cuando éste se encuentre en movimiento. Cerrar el aprieta hilo regulando oportunamente la presión. Hacer avanzar el hilo apretando el botón correspondiente.

Regular la intensidad de frenando ajustando los tornillos de cierre de la bobina: hay que apretar lo justo necesario para evitar, al parar con la bobina cargada, el desenrrollo del hilo. Cerrar el panel móvil de la tracción del hilo.

•

Enchufar la torcha en la toma ‘C1’ correspondiente introduciendo primero el hilo en la abertura de la vaina. Fijar luego la torcha en modo seguro apretando a mano el enlace. Manteniendo el cable bién tenso, hacer avanzar el hilo apretando el botón.

Durante esta operación está prohibido exponer el cuerpo (en particular los ojos) frente a la boquilla de la torcha para esperar la salida del hilo.

The safety rules reported in the preceding sections should be carefully followed when setting up the machine, i.e. when connecting the mains input cable to the mains supply.

Connect the power cable to a socket with an adequate current supply and insert the delayed line fuses with an adequate rated value, as specified in the table of

TECHNICAL DATA (page 23).

Make sure that the yellow-green wire, which is the earth wire, is properly connected to the ground (this will protect the user).

After setting up the machine, the following operations should be carried out before setting it to work:

• Fit the wire spool into the spool holder ensuring that the direction of wire feed is correct. Release the wire feed pressure arm. Insert the wire feed roller corresponding to the wire diameter being used. Pay special attention when fixing the rod spool.

DANGER! Do not touch the wire feed motor

cogwheels when they are turning. Relocate the wire feed pressure arm and adjust pressure. Feed wire by using inch button. Adjust braking power by turning the spool holder ring nut: it should be fastened as much as to avoid the unwinding of the wire when a full spool is stopped. Close the mobile panel on the wire feed motor.

• Feed wire into the torch liner and connect the torch to its socket ‘C1’. Make sure the torch is secured by tightening the connection with your own hands.

Then, while keeping the torch cable straight, feed wire by using inch button. During this operation never stay with your body (and especially your eyes) in front of the nozzle to see the wire coming out.

•

Connect the work return lead from the power source to a suitable, clean point of the workpiece.

• Unir el cable masa al generador y a un punto bien limpio de la pieza a soldar.

• Conectar el tubo del gas al reductor de presión, habiendo sido el mismo aplicado siguiendo cuidadosamente las instrucciones de aplicación.

El encendido de la máquina se obtiene girando en posición ‘OFF’ ambos selectores ‘S1’ y ‘S2’. El encendido viene señalado por el led verde ‘L1’.

La intervención de la protección térmica viene señalada cuando se enciende el led amarillo ‘L2’.

La regulación de la tensión de trabajo se efectúa a través de los selectores ‘S1’ (selección del campo de regulación de la tensión) y ‘S2’ (regulación final de la tensión). Atención: no modificar nunca la posición de los selectores mientras se está efectuando la soldadura ya que se podrian estropear.

Nota técnica: en la MK180 se encuentra solo el selector de regulación fin ‘S2’.

El pulsador ‘T1’ sirve para hacer avanzar el hilo manualmente, utilizado particularmente durante el cambio de la bobina.

El pulsador ‘T2’ (test-gas) sirve para verificar la presencia del gas para la soldadura, para verificar el correcto reflujo y para quitar el aire del circuito.

El potenciómetro ‘P1’ permite regular la velocidad del hilo.

El potenciómetro ‘P2’ permite regular el

‘SOFT-START‘: al presionar el pulsador torcha el hilo avanza lentamente y se lleva a la velocidad establecida solamente cuando se dispara el arco de soldadura. Su regulación va del 10 al 100% de la velocidad establecida del hilo.

El potenciómetro ‘P3’ permite la regulación del retraso potencia ‘BURN-BACK‘ con el fín de optimizar el final del proceso de soldadura.

El selector ‘S3’ permite de escoger cuatro modalidades diferentes de funcionamiento:

2-tiempos: el proceso de soldadura inicia en el momento en el cual se aprieta el pulsador torcha y se para al soltar el mismo.

The machine is set to work by turning both main switches ‘S1’ and ‘S2’ to a position other than ‘OFF’.

ThE green LED ‘L1’ will show when the machine is on.

The yellow LED ‘L2’ will show when the overheat protection device is active.

The welding voltage can be regulated by using the main switch ‘S1’ (course voltage regulator) and ‘S2’

(fine voltage regulator). Warning: do not modify the position of the switches while welding as they could get damaged.

Technical note: only the fine voltage regulator ‘S2’ is available on MK180.

Inch button ‘T1’ is used to feed the wire manually, especially when changing wire spool.

Gas flow test button ‘T2’ is used to check that the gas flows properly and to remove air from the circuit.

Potentiometer ‘P1’ is used to adjust the wire speed.

Potentiometer ‘P2’ is used to adjust the ‘SOFT-START’: when the torch trigger is pushed, the wire is fed slowly and reaches the set speed only on arc start. Soft start adjustment ranges from 10% to 100% of the set wire speed.

Potentiometer ‘P3’ is used to adjust the ‘BURN-BACK‘ delay so as to optimise the end of the welding process.

Switch ‘S3’ is used to select four different welding modes:

2-step welding: the welding process starts when the torch trigger is pushed and stops when it is released.

4-tiempos: al apretar el pulsador torcha, el proceso de soldadura inicia con un pre-gas manual, al soltarlo inicia la verdadera soldadura. Al apretar sucesivamente el pulsador torcha, la soldadura se para mientras el gas continua a fluir, al soltarlo se para también el post-gas manual.

4-step welding: when pressing the torch trigger, a manual pre-gas flow precedes the true welding process, which is started after releasing the trigger. By pressing the torch trigger again, the welding process is stopped, but the gas will keep on flowing until the torch trigger is released.

Puntadura: al presionar el pulsador torcha empieza un proceso de soldadura con una duración establecida a través del potenciómetro ‘P4’, pasado éste, el preceso se para automaticamente. Para volver a empezar se debe apretar de nuevo el pulsador torcha.

Spot welding: when the torch trigger is pressed, the welding process will start and last for the time set with potentiometer ‘P4’; after that interval welding will automatically stop. To start welding again, the torch trigger is to be pressed again.

Punto-pausa: al apretar el pulsador torcha inicia in ciclo de soldadura con una duración obtenida por la suma de los tiempos establecidos a través de los potenciómetros ‘P4’ y ‘P5’ que se repite hasta que el pulsador torcha no viene soltado.

Spot-pause welding: when the torch trigger is pressed, a welding cycle is started which will last for the time set with both potentiometers ‘P4’ and ‘P5’; the cycle is then repeated until the torch trigger is released.

La torcha va unida a la conexión ‘C1’, conectada al polo positivo del generador; la pieza a soldar debe ser unida a la toma del negativo ‘C2’ del generador.

Los fusibles de protección de los circuitos eléctricos son facilmente accesibles situados en la parte frontal de la máquina.

The torch is to be plugged into socket ‘C1’ connected to the positive pole of the power source; the work return lead is to be plugged into socket ‘C2’ connected to the negative pole of the power source.

The electric circuit fuses can be easily accessed in the front panel.

Posibles anomalías en el equipo de soldar Troubleshooting

Se describen a continuación las anomalías que mas frecuentemente se pueden verificar en el uso de un equipo de soldadura de la serie MK y las indicaciones de las causas posibles.

A) Arco inestable, falta de potencia de arco aunque si regulada al máximo: la maquina funciona en monofase.

Controlar el estado de los siguientes componentes:

• cable de alimentación

• interruptores

• teleruptor de potencia

B) Falta total de arco de soldadura. Verificar los circuitos de potencia del generador en el siguiente orden:

• torcha, cable masa, tomas de potencia

C) La máquina no se enciende:

• verificar el fusible F1

D) La máquina no se enciende pero el ventilador funciona:

• verificar el fusible F2

• verificar que en los terminales del transformador auxiliar estén presentes las tensiones nominales

• substituir la tarjeta electrónica 0050500

E) La máquina se enciende pero el led ‘L2’ que indica la intervención de la protección térmica está siempre encendida:

• verificar el dispositivo de protección térmica

F) El motor del alimentador está bloqueado:

• controlar el fusible F3

• controlar las escobillas y las conexiones del motor

• cambiar la tarjeta electrónica 0050500

G) El avance del hilo es irregular, controlar:

• el rebobinado del hilo

• que los rodillos del alimentador sean adecuados al tipo de hilo, el estado de desgaste y que la presión del brazo aprieta hilo sea adecuada

• que la toma de la torcha esté en eje con el encave del rodillo

• la vaina de la torcha, si es necesario sustituirla por asegurarse de que el diámetro del hilo utilizado es el adecuado y que la longitud es correcta

• el embrague de la devanadera portabobina; si funcionara a tirones hay que cambiarlo

• que la tarjeta electrónica 0050500, en salida, produzca, al variar el potenciómetro de regulación de la velocidad del hilo, una tensión contínua de 4 a

46V; en caso contrario substituirla

H) En cada interrupción de la soldadura el hilo se pega al tubito de contacto:

•

regular el temporizador de retraso de potencia ‘P3’

(BURN-BACK): si el tiempo es demasiado corto el hilo queda pegado en el tubito, viceversa si es demasiado corto el hilo se pega a baño de soldadura.

A list of the possible failures of a MK welding set is reported here below with the indication of the possible causes.

A) Unstable arc, no arc power even if set for maximum power. Check the state of the following components:

• power cable

• switches

• power contactor

B) No welding arc at all. Check the power source circuits in the following sequence:

• torch, work return lead, power sockets

C) The machine does not start:

• check fuse F1

D) The machine does not start but the fun is working:

• replace fuse F2

• check if on the auxiliary transformer terminals are present the nominal voltage

• replace 0050500 p.c.board

E) The machine start but the overheat protection yellow

LED ‘L2’ is always on:

• check the overheat protection devices

F) The wire feed motor does not work:

• check the fuse F3

• check the motor brushes and connections

• replace 0050500 p.c.board

G) The wire feeding is irregular. Check:

• the wire spooling

• that the wire feed rollers are suited to the wire diameter being used

• that the torch inlet is aligned with the wire feed roller spline

• the torch liner making sure it is suited to the the length and diameter of the wire being used; if necessary, replace it

• the spool holder brake; if necessary, replace it

• that the 0050500 p.c.board delivers between 4 and

46V as the wire feed speed changes; if not, replace it

H) The wire sticks to the contact tip each time the welding is stopped:

•

adjust the power delay potentiometer ‘P3’

(BURN-BACK). If the time is too long, the wire will stick to the contact tip; if it is too short, the wire will stick to the weld pool.

I) Al final de la soldadura el hilo no se detiene:

Frequently asked questions

What are the safety precautions that should be taken when using the welding machine?

Before connecting the power source to the mains, always check that the voltage received falls within ±10% allowance of the nominal value displayed on the machine plate; the mains input is properly grounded (as provided in the relevant legislation) and the yellow/green wire of the welding machine is connected to the ground; the mains supply is equipped with a grounded neutral conductor; the power source is in a dry and ventilated place.

How do I adjust the welding parameters?

The adjustment of welding parameters consists in finding out the correct balance between voltage and wire speed to achieve a good-looking weld bead. The tables on page 8 report some reference values.

What are the different welding modes available?

Switch 'S3' is used to select four different welding modes: 2-step welding, 4-step welding, Spot welding, Spot-pause welding.
