Setting up

Installation mode

There are four ways to set up the projector. Set the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [PROJECTION METHOD]

( x page 78) depending on the installation location.

Setting on a desk/floor and projecting forward Setting on a desk/floor and projecting from rear

Note f The projector has a built-in angle sensor. The attitude of the projector is automatically detected by setting the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu

→ [PROJECTION METHOD] to [AUTO]. For rear projection, set the [PROJECTION METHOD] to [REAR/DESK] or [REAR/CEILING].

Angle sensor

The range of installation posture detected by the projector’s built-in angle sensor is as follows.

In case of [AUTO], when the projector is placed with the top side upward within ±30° from the horizontal plane, it will switch to [FRONT/DESK] automatically; when the projector is placed with the top side downward within ±30° from the horizontal plane, it will switch to [FRONT/CEILING] automatically.

: Projection direction

In the case of [AUTO], it will be detected as [FRONT/DESK] even when the projector tilts over ±30° with the top side upward or over ±30° with the top side downward. To use the projector that tilts over ±30° with the top side downward, set the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [PROJECTION METHOD] to [FRONT/CEILING] or [REAR/

CEILING] instead of [AUTO].

However, do not use the projector when it exceeds ±30° with respect to the horizontal plane. Doing so may shorten the life of the parts.

Parts for ceiling mount (Optional)

This requires an optional ceiling mount bracket. Be sure to use the Projector Mount Bracket together with the ceiling mount bracket for high ceilings or low ceilings.

Model No.: ET-PKL100H (for high ceilings), ET-PKL100S (for low ceilings), ET-PKL420B (Projector Mount

Bracket) f Use only the ceiling mount brackets specified for this projector.

f Refer to the Installation Instructions for the ceiling mount bracket when you install the bracket and the projector.

Attention f To ensure projector performance and security, installation of the ceiling mount bracket must be carried out by your dealer or a qualified technician.

Screen size and throw distance

Refer to the screen size and projection distances to install the projector. Image size and image position can be adjusted in accordance with the screen size and screen position.

f Following illustration is prepared on the assumption that the projected image size and position have been aligned to fit full in the screen.

Projection distance

A ±5% error in listed projection distances may occur.

When [SCREEN ADJUSTMENT] is used, distance is corrected to become smaller than the specified image size.

Projection distance formulas

To use a screen size not listed in this manual, check the screen size SD (m) and use the respective formula to calculate projection distance.

The unit of all the formulas is m. (Values obtained by the following calculation formulas contain a slight error.)

If you want to calculate the projection distance with projected image size SD (unit: inch) by substituting, please assign 0.0254 times to the SD value.

For PT-LW376

4:3 aspect ratio

= 0.6 × SD

= 0.8 × SD

= 1.4369 × SD - 0.025

= 1.7263 × SD - 0.025
