Cleaning and care

Cleaning the door seal

 Risk of damage as a result of incorrect cleaning.

Do not use any oils or grease on the door seal.

 The door seal should be cleaned regularly with clean water and then wiped dry with a cloth.

Cleaning the ventilation gaps

A build-up of dust will increase the energy consumption of the appliance.

 The ventilation gaps should be cleaned on a regular basis with a brush or vacuum cleaner (e.g. use the dusting brush for Miele vacuum cleaners)

After cleaning

 Replace all shelves and accessories in the wine conditioning unit.

 Reconnect to the mains and switch the wine conditioning unit back on.

Problem solving guide

Many malfunctions and faults that can occur in daily operation can be easily remedied. Time and money will be saved because a service call will not be needed.

The following guide may help you to find the reason for a malfunction or a fault, and to correct it.

To prevent cold from escaping, open the appliance as little as possible until the fault has been corrected.

Problem

If you are concerned that your wine conditioning unit is not working properly, you can perform a Self test . Your wine conditioning unit will be checked for any faults or malfunctions.

The wine conditioning unit is not getting cold and the interior lighting does not come on when the appliance door is opened.

The compressor is switching on more frequently and for longer periods of time. The temperature in the wine conditioning unit is too low.

Cause and remedy

Any errors identified during the self test are shown on the display.

 Perform a self test (see “Performing a Self test    ” in “Additional settings”).

 If necessary, contact the Customer Service Department and inform them of the error message(s) on the display.

The wine conditioning unit is not switched on.

 Switch the wine conditioning unit on. The temperature appears on the display.

The plug is not inserted in the socket correctly.

 Insert the plug into the socket.

The mains fuse has tripped. There could be a fault with the wine conditioning unit, the household electrical wiring or another electrical appliance.

 Contact a qualified electrician or the Miele Customer Service Department.

The temperature in the wine conditioning unit is set too low.

 Correct the temperature setting.

The ventilation gaps in the housing unit have been covered or become too dusty.

 Do not block the ventilation gaps.

 Dust the ventilation gaps regularly.

The appliance door has been opened too frequently, or a large number of bottles have been put inside the unit all at once.

Problem

The compressor comes on less and less often and for shorter periods of time. The temperature in the wine conditioning unit rises.

The compressor runs continuously.

Cause and remedy

 Only open the appliance door when necessary and for as short a time as possible.

After a while, the temperature will return to normal by itself.

The appliance door is not properly closed.

 Close the appliance door.

After a while, the temperature will return to normal by itself.

The ambient room temperature is too high. The higher the ambient temperature, the longer the compressor has to run.

 See the information in “Location” in “Installation”.

The wine conditioning unit has not been installed properly in the building-in niche.

 See the information in “Installing the wine conditioning unit” in “Installation”.

Not a fault. The temperature setting is too high.

 Correct the temperature setting.

 Check the temperature again after 24 hours.

An alarm sounds.

No alarm sounds despite the appliance door being open.

The appliance door cannot be opened.

This is not a fault. To save energy, the compressor runs at a lower speed, but for longer, when less cooling is required.

The appliance door of the wine conditioning unit has been open for longer than approx. 2 minutes.

 Close the appliance door.

You have switched off the audible signal.

 Switch the audible signal back on using Settings mode   .

The Pull2open  door assistant is switched on but the wine conditioning unit has a handle-free furniture front.

General problems with the wine conditioning unit

Problem

Mildew has begun to form on the wine bottle labels.

The slats on the wooden shelves are warping.

A white deposit has formed on the wine bottle corks.

Cause and remedy

Mildew can begin to form on the labels, depending on the type of label adhesive used.

 Clean the wine bottles and remove any adhesive residue.

Volume change due to moisture absorption or drying out is a typical characteristic of wood. An increase in humidity will cause wooden components to warp, which can lead to cracking. Knots and grain patina are part of the natural character of wood.

The corks have oxidised due to contact with the air.

 Use a dry cloth to wipe off the deposit. The deposit will not affect the quality of the wine.

Possible cause

The wine conditioning unit is uneven.

Shelves are unstable or sticking.

Bottles or containers are touching each other.

The transport cable clips are hanging loose at the back of the appliance.

Realign the wine conditioning unit using a spirit level, by raising or lowering the screw feet underneath the appliance.

Check all removable items and refit them correctly.

Separate them.
