Introduction. George K9GDT
George K9GDT is a solid-state receiver designed for the 40m Amateur Radio Band, offering high performance with excellent sensitivity, selectivity, and dynamic range. Its user-friendly front panel layout features large, ergonomically placed controls, including a weighted main tuning knob and frequently used controls positioned nearby. The receiver employs a doubly balanced switching-mode mixer in a single conversion scheme for optimum front-end performance. With its front panel SELECTIVITY switch, you can choose between 2.1KHz or 400Hz IF bandwidth, each provided by dedicated eight-pole crystal filters. The 400Hz position incorporates a second 400Hz filter to eliminate broadband noise from the IF amplifier. The PASSBAND tuning control aids in reducing interference by electronically adjusting the crystal filter's response curve around the displayed frequency, enabling you to shift it away from nearby interfering signals.
