Frequently Answers and Questions

How do I break in my new engine?
The first two tanks of fuel should be used to break in the engine. Run the engine at a higher than normal idle speed and avoid full throttle for more than 2-3 seconds at a time. After the first two tanks, begin leaning out the high-speed needle valve 1/8 turn at a time.
What are the proper needle settings for my engine?
The high-speed needle should be set to 3 1/2 turns out from closed, and the low-speed needle should be set to 2 turns out from closed. Remember to check the temperature after each adjustment to make sure the engine is running at a safe temperature.
What happens if my engine is running too lean?
Running your engine too lean will shorten its lifespan and cause it to run weakly, hesitate, or stall when accelerating.
What are the symptoms of an engine that is flooded?
If the pull starter is extremely difficult to pull, the engine may be flooded. This means that there is excess fuel between the cylinder head and piston, preventing the piston from moving freely. To fix this, remove the glow plug and turn the model upside down. Give the recoil starter a few short pulls to clear out the fuel. Re-install the glow plug and try starting the engine again.
