ST Constant current controller is a device dedicated to the precise regulation of the current flowing through high power LEDs (light-emitting diodes), with the aim of extending LED lifetime and guaranteeing a constant level of brightness. The controller accepts a variable input voltage of between 4.5 V and 40 V, which makes it suitable for automotive and industrial applications, and it can withstand automotive load-dump events of up to 40 V. The device’s precision is ±10%, and it allows LED brightness to be regulated by pulse width modulation. This controller features an open drain pin output that provides information on load disconnection, which can be used by the system to alert that a problem occurs in the LEDs.
