Frequently Answers and Questions
How do I mix the fuel and oil for the Y28 trimmer?
Use a 40:1 fuel/oil ratio. Mix unleaded gasoline with 2-cycle engine oil in a separate fuel can. Do not mix them directly in the engine fuel tank.
How do I adjust the trimming line length?
The Bump Head™ cutting attachment allows you to release trimming line without stopping the engine. To release more line, lightly tap the cutting attachment on the ground while operating the trimmer at high speed.
What type of trimming line should I use with the Y28 trimmer?
Use only 0.080 inch (2.03 mm) diameter original equipment manufacturer replacement line. Never use metal-reinforced line, wire, chain or rope.
How do I clean the air filter?
Clean and re-oil the air filter every 10 hours of operation. Wash the filter in detergent and water. Rinse the filter thoroughly, squeeze out excess water, and allow it to dry completely. Apply enough clean SAE 30 oil to lightly coat the filter and squeeze the filter to spread and remove excess oil.
How do I replace the spark plug?
Use a Champion RDJ7Y spark plug, or equivalent. Remove the plug after every 25 hours of operation and check its condition. Replace a cracked, fouled or dirty spark plug. Set the air gap at 0.020 in. (0.5 mm) using a feeler gauge.
