Frequently asked questions

Several basic cable types are used in the Aqua TROLL system: RuggedCable®, TPU-jacketed (Thermoplastic Polyurethane), vented or non-vented, Vented Tefzel®-jacketed cable (ETFE fluoropolymer), Poly-coated stainless steel suspension wire for deployment of a non-vented instrument, Communication cables for programming the device/downloading the logged data.

Vented cable must be used with vented pressure/level sensors (gauged measurements) on the Aqua TROLL 200. The cable vent tube ensures that atmospheric pressure is the reference pressure applied to the sensor diaphragm. Non-vented cable may be used with non-vented pressure/level sensors (absolute measurements) on the Aqua TROLL 100 or 200 instruments. Vented cable can also be used.

You can connect the Aqua TROLL to the computer using a TROLL Com, which is a device that interfaces between the sensor and the computer. There are two types of TROLL Coms: Direct Connect and Cable Connect. Direct Connect TROLL Coms connect directly to the Aqua TROLL, while Cable Connect TROLL Coms connect to the Aqua TROLL’s RuggedCable.
