Frequently asked questions

There are seven (7) models in the Shipsurveyor range of instruments, each offering different gas sensor ranges. Refer to Chapter 2 for details.

The Shipsurveyor has two operating modes: Confined Space Monitor (CSM) mode and Combustible Gas Indicator (CGI) mode. CSM mode is for safety monitoring in confined spaces with hazardous gas mixtures, while CGI mode is for measuring gas levels at points where gas is suspected to be present.

The instrument will automatically zero the sensors during the warm-up cycle. If a sensor fails to zero, refer to Chapter 3.10 for troubleshooting instructions.

Refer to Chapter 5, 'OPERATOR MAINTENANCE' for instructions on replacing the batteries.

Why does the SHIPSURVEYOR instrument still display the previous calibration date after performing calibration?

The instrument's CAL DUE date is automatically reset when the calibration is successfully completed. If the previous date remains visible, it suggests that the calibration may not have finished successfully.

What is the expected lifespan of the electrochemical sensors within the device, and what precautions should be taken during prolonged storage regarding these sensors?

The instrument contains electrochemical sensors with a life of 2 years. Under conditions of prolonged storage, the sensors should be removed.
