As  one  of  several  methods  of  corrosion  coupon  (alloy  specimen) monitoring systems offered by Cosasco

®

, Disc 

Coupon  Holder  Assemblies  offer  several  inherent  advantages.  First,  there  is  no  need  to  orient  coupons  in  relation  to  product  flow  direction.  Second,  they  offer  more exposed surface at the pipeline wall surfaces than  strip  coupon  holder  assemblies;  and,  third,  if  sized  properly,  they  can  offer  a  means  of  corrosion  coupon 

  monitoring  and  yet  allow  pigging  operations  with  no  interference. 

1. THE FIXED DISC COUPON HOLDER 

May be sized to position the Disc Coupon at any desired 

  location within the pipe or vessel. 

2. THE ADJUSTABLE DISC COUPON HOLDER ASSEMBLY 

Has  an  adjustable  stem  threading  within  an  outer  support  housing.  After  determining  its  desired  length, 

  the  length  setting  is  locked  into  position  by  a  set  screw  aligned  with  a  keyway  or  kerf.  The  support  housing  is 

2.75"  (7  cm)  long  and  stem  travel  is  from  a  beginning  exposure  of  3/8"  (9.5mm)  up  to  1‐3/4"  (4.5cm).  When  used  with  Cosasco

®

  5.25"  Standard  height  Access  Fitting  mounting  end  at  3/8"  (9.5  mm)  into  the  pipeline  OD  or  wall  and  thus  can  accommodate  many  pipe  wall 

  thicknesses  with  flush  mount  monitoring  (up  to  its  extended limit of travel).  

All holders are made from two piece construction.  Non‐ welded  holders  are  available  upon  request.  All  Disc 

Coupon  Holder  Assemblies  attach  to  the  bottom  of  the 

Solid  Plug  Assembly  of  the  Access  Fitting  Assembly  by  means of a left‐hand threaded nut.    

 

When attached, they are securely locked into place by a  set screw.  The attaching nut replaces the Solid Plug Nut  component of the Solid Plug Assembly and also serves as  the primary packing retainer.  Coupon attachment is by a  single  flat  head  machine  screw‐type  with  Teflon

®

  insulation.
