MD Series

Marshall Electronics proudly presents the MD series of rack mount monitors that offer a flexible modular solution to system integration. These new rack-mountable monitors can be configured with a variety of video inputs that can be “swapped” or interchanged in the field based on your evolving needs and requirements.

This eliminates the need to upgrade or replace equipment when a different input or application is required.

This “future proof” solution provides flexibility and reassurance when necessary, especially in multi-monitor rack mount units.

These fully-featured monitors come in a variety of sizes and configurations. The new V-MD434 and V-MD503 monitors feature a new slim design with advanced front panel menu and feature control. The V-MD171 offers native 1920 x 1200 resolution, making it the World’s First HD Monitor with direct Fiber-Optic video inputs. Marshall’s new MD monitors integrate Telecast Fiber System’s TeleCube TM Fiber-Optic HD/SDI transmission input/output modules. These new fiber modules deliver the industry’s broadest range of digital rates while maintaining pristine signal quality that broadcasters and integrators demand.

All models include Status Display, False Color Filter, Markers, Freeze Function, Color Temperature Presets, RGB Gain / Bias Adjust, Pixelto-Pixel, Blue Gun, Hard Tally, four Function buttons, and more. A variety of modules will become available including the availability of 3G/

HD/SDI with loop-through, Fiber-Optic input/output modules, and more.

These new monitors received TV Technology’s STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) at IBC 2009 in Amsterdam.

The QUAD VIEWER Series is the latest addition to Marshall’s line of IMD-equipped monitors. The new 17” and 26” Quad-Viewer Monitors feature a full resolution 1920 x 1200 LCD panel, built-in high quality HD Quad Splitter, four independent HDSDI inputs, one DVI input, IMD

(In-Monitor Display) capability, Audio Presence indicator, and Time Code. Video and DVI both offer full screen mode, while quad-split mode is scaled to fit onscreen in the highest resolution. IMD is supported via manual mode, along with Image Video, NVISION, MEI

DUAL LINK / WAVEFORM (DLW) Series

Marshall Electronics introduces the new DLW Series to the expanding line of IMD (In-Monitor Display) Monitors. The 17” V-R171-DLW and the 26” V-R261-DLW IMD monitors include Dual Link with Waveform & Vectorscope. These new models incorporate a 10-bit “no compromise” video path along with one of the industry’s first monitors equipped with 3G capability. In Quad-View mode, the monitors break the screen into four quadrants and display Audio Bars, a Waveform Monitor, Vectorscope, and live video simultaneously. Both models have two inputs supporting 3G / HD / SDI and Dual Link. A DVI input supports all HDMI modes and DVI to 170MHz.

Additional features include IMD protocol support for TSL, NVISION, Image Video, and MEI (Marshall Electronics) tally control systems, remote firmware update via RS-485, tri-color hard and soft tally, and Safety Marker configurations. Other display features include full

WAVEFORM MONITOR

The built-in waveform monitor (which includes adjustable White and Black clip level indicators) can be displayed in various aspect ratios, positions, and transparency options. The Waveform Monitor not only monitors luminance, but can also warn the user for out-of-range conditions such as overexposure or “blacker-than-black” errors with fully user-adjustable warning limits.

REAL-TIME COLOR VECTORSCOPE

The built-in Vectorscope allows users to monitor color gamut range in real time. It displays in full color and can also be displayed in various sizes, positions, and transparency options. The Vectorscope has adjustable gain from 1x to 5x.

CLIP GUIDE

The Clip Guide function operates with both the Waveform display and Monochrome/Color picture display. Both the upper and lower Clip Guide levels are user-adjustable in order to accurately display over-and-under exposures during different shooting conditions. For example, the upper Clip Guide limit may be set to 85 IRE and the lower limit to 10 IRE. With these settings, any exposures over the set limit of 85 IRE will display red on both the Waveform and picture (if selected). The same will be true for blacks under 10 IRE.

PRECISION GAMMA

It is important that LCD monitors match the color and gamma characteristics of a CRT monitor. To emulate CRT gamma, the non-linear curves are corrected by software algorithms. This process is complicated because the three non-linear colors (RGB) should be corrected simultaneously. The ORCHID gamma correction overcomes this problem and ensures correct matching between panels and channels.

AUDIO LEVEL METERS

De-embeds and displays up to 16 channels of audio using sixteen 64-segment tri-color Audio Meters with useradjustable reference levels. The Audio Level Meters provide numerical indicators and headroom levels, as well as peak hold function. Audio Channel Loss Warning prevents errors during monitoring.

FRONT AND REAR PANEL AUDIO OUTPUT

Monitor any two channels at once through the front audio output jack or rear line output jack.

ONE BUTTON COLOR CALIBRATION

The ORCHID operating system includes an Automatic White Balance function that allows a “One Button” calibration procedure when used with a Konica Minolta CA-210 color analyzer. All ORCHID Series LCD panels are calibrated at the factory to ensure color conformity between screens.

WHITE BALANCE

White balance adjustment is essential in order to render colors correctly. To display colors correctly, gray scale should maintain identical color temperature. The white balance for ORCHID monitors defaults to D65 (6500K) so the user does not need to adjust white balance. LCD monitors have color-matching issues because white balance can be affected by a change in luminance level. Our unique color management system solves this problem.

FILTER CONFIGURATION SUBMENU

� False Colors

The V-LCD70P-HDA has a false color filter to aid in the setting of camera exposure. As the camera Iris is adjusted, elements of the image will change color based on the luminance or brightness values. This enables proper exposure to be achieved without the use of costly, complicated external equipment. To best utilize this feature, you must understand the color chart below and have a basic understanding of camera exposure. Normally, when shooting subjects like people, it is common practice to set exposure of faces to the equivalent of approximately 56 IRE. The false color filter will show this area as the color PINK on the monitor. Therefore, as you increase exposure (open the

IRIS), your subject will change color as indicated on the chart: PINK, then GREY, then a few shades of YELLOW. Over exposed subjects (above 101 IRE) on the monitor will be shown as RED. In addition, underexposed subjects will show as DEEP-BLUE to DARK–BLUE, with clipped-blacks indicated with a FUCHSIA-like color. Lastly, the color GREEN is used to indicate elements of the image that are approximately 45 IRE. This represents a ‘neutral’ or ‘mid-level’ exposure commonly used for objects (not people).

The V-LCD651ST series is Marshall’s line of highly praised Super Transflective Outdoor Monitors. The Peaking Filter is used to aid the camera operator in obtaining the sharpest possible picture. When activated, all color will be removed from the display and a black-andwhite image will remain. The internal processor will display RED color on the screen where sharp edges appear. When the camera operator adjusts (or “racks”) the focus control (on the ca age is sharp or in focus. Final focus is achieved by racking the camera lens focus control back and forth until the desired portion of the image has RED colored edges. This feature is most effective when the subject is properly exposed and contains enough contrast to be processed.

The NCB-1005 connects directly to any TCP/IP 10/100

The Marshall VS-101-HDSDI is a High Definition Video Server that allows real-time transmission of an SD/HD-SDI, HDMI, or NTSC/PAL composite video signal along with bi-directional AAC encoded high definition stereo audio over standard IP networks and the internet. The Marshall VS-101-HDSDI incorporates advanced H.264 and MJPEG compression technology. This allows 50% more compression capacity over an existing IP

These new 16:9 monitors are available in 7”, 10.2”, and 11” sizes and comply with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandate requiring the conversion of analog broadcast signals to digital. No digital-to-analog converter box required. Not only do these monitors provide portable television, but they are perfect for mobile ENG / OB Vans, surveillance, and security.
