Hooking Up your EnduraCUT Cutter
There are multiple ways to hook up your EnduraCUT/EnduraCUT Plus Vinyl cutter. This walkthrough will
cover each of those options.
On the Enduracut, there are 2 ports ( USB and Serial) and on the Enduracut Plus, 3 ports (USB, Serial, and
Parallel)
NOTE: The USB Port provided on these cutters is for Loading Firmware on the Mainboard and is NOT used
for 2 way communication.
Serial Connection
The main connection on both of these machines will be the Serial connection. There are 2
options for using the Serial port. One is a straight Serial Connection, using the Serial Cable
included with the cutter. It will physically screw into both the cutter and the computer. The
address for your cutter will be COM 1 or COM 2
If you do not have a Serial Port on your computer, you will need to use a Serial to USB Adapter.
These devices will plug into the USB port on your computer, but will provide a port like the one
shown above (the computer COM port) to hook the Serial Cable into. Each of the devices will
include a disk in the packaging to install onto your computer. The one Signwarehouse offers is the
Keyspan USB to Serial Adapter.
If you are using the Keyspan Serial to USB connection, please see then set up instructions on the
EnduraCUT Set up disk under Resource Manuals, labeled “Keyspan Setup”
Parallel connection
On the EnduraCUT Plus, there is another port option, the Parallel Port option. It uses
Silver Clips to lock the parallel cable into the cutter, and physically screws into your
computer. If you are using this cable, your port Set up will be LPT 1.
NOTE: If your computer does not have a Parallel or Serial port, do NOT use a Parallel to USB Connection.
This method will NOT work. ONLY a Serial to USB adapter will work for communication.
