Introduction

Your telephone is designed to give you flexibility in use and high quality performance. To get the most from your new telephone, we suggest that you take a few minutes right now to read through this instruction manual.

CAUTION: When using telephone equipment, there are basic safety instructions that should always be followed.

Refer to the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS provided with this product and save them for future reference.

Equipment Approval Information

Your telephone equipment is approved for connection to the Public Switched

Telephone Network and is in compliance with parts 15 and 68, FCC Rules and

Regulations and the Technical Requirements for Telephone Terminal Equipment published by ACTA.

1 Notification to the Local Telephone Company

On the bottom of this equipment is a label indicating, among other information, the US number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for the equipment. You must, upon request, provide this information to your telephone company.

The REN is useful in determining the number of devices you may connect to your telephone line and still have all of these devices ring when your telephone number is called. In most (but not all) areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed 5. To be certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company.

A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. See installation instructions for details.

Notes

• This equipment may not be used on coin service provided by the telephone company.

• Party lines are subject to state tariffs, and therefore, you may not be able to use your own telephone equipment if you are on a party line. Check with your local telephone company.

• Notice must be given to the telephone company upon permanent disconnection of your telephone from your line.

• If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the installation of this product does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualified installer.

2 Rights of the Telephone Company

Should your equipment cause trouble on your line which may harm the telephone network, the telephone company shall, where practicable, notify you that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. Where prior notice is not practicable and the circumstances warrant such action, the telephone company may temporarily discontinue service immediately. In case of such temporary discontinuance, the telephone company must: (1) promptly notify you of such temporary discontinuance; (2) afford you the opportunity to correct the situation; and (3) inform you of your right to bring a complaint to the Commission pursuant to procedures set forth in Subpart E of Part 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.

The telephone company may make changes in its communications facilities, equipment, operations or procedures where such action is required in the operation of its business and not inconsistent with FCC Rules and Regulations. If these changes are expected to affect the use or performance of your telephone equipment, the telephone company must give you adequate notice, in writing, to allow you to maintain uninterrupted service.

Telephone Jack Requirements

To use this phone, you need an RJ11C type modular telephone jack, which might look like the one pictured here, installed in your home. If you don’t have a modular jack, call your local phone company to find out how to get one installed.

• Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

Installing the Phone

Installing the Batteries

IMPORTANT: You will have approximately 60 seconds to replace the batteries before the memories stored in the handset are lost. Please read the instructions before replacing the batteries and have the batteries ready to be inserted beforehand. As a precaution, you may want to write down any stored information you do not want erased.

Your Caller ID phone uses 4 AA-size alkaline batteries for receiving and storing Caller ID records and for the numbers you use for memory dialing.

1. If the telephone line cord is connected, disconnect it from the wall.

2. Use a ballpoint pen or other tool to open the battery compartment door.

3. Insert 4 AA-size alkaline batteries (not included) as shown on the diagram inside the compartment.

4. Replace the battery compartment door.

5. Re-attach the line cord to the wall and check your memory locations. If installation takes longer than 90 seconds, you may need to re-enter your memory locations.

IMPORTANT: If you’re not going to use the telephone for more than 30 days, remove the batteries because they can leak and damage the unit.

Connecting the Telephone Line

1. Plug the coiled cord into the jack on the handset.

2. Plug the long straight line cord into a modular wall telephone jack.

3. Set the RINGER switch on the base to HI.

= HI - Sound will be loudest.

= LOW - Sound will be lower.

= OFF - Telephone will not ring.

4. Place the handset in the cradle.

NOTE: The unit is properly installed if you pick up the handset and hear the dial tone. Otherwise, recheck all the installation steps.

Wall Mount Installation

Your telephone may also be mounted on a wall plate (not included).

NOTE: To prevent the handset from falling out of the cradle while the phone is hanging on the wall, you must reverse the handset hook (located on the base).

1. Push the handset hook up and out with your thumb, turn it over, and replace it in the slot on the base.

2. Feed the line cord through the groove and wrap the cord around the track on the bottom of the base.

3. Feed the line cord through the groove on the opposite side of the track, and plug the end into the modular telephone jack.

4. Slip the mounting holes (on the bottom of the base) over the wall plate posts and firmly slide the unit down into place.

Setting Up the Caller ID Menu

IMPORTANT: Do not plug the telephone into the wall jack while setting up the Caller ID menu because an incoming call may invalidate the information not yet saved.

1. Press the options button. SET 5 OR 6 appears in the display.

2. Press either REVIEW up or down button to scroll among the 7 menu screens, which are:

• SET 5 OR 6

• Local Area Code (default - - -)

• Regional AC’s-1 (default - - - - - - - - -)

• CID LANGUAGE (default English)

• SELECT CONTRAST (default 3)

• T/P DIAL MODE (default tone)

• EXIT SETUP

NOTE: You may press dial anytime to exit the Caller ID Set Up menu. If no buttons are pressed within 10 seconds, the phone automatically exists the Caller ID Set Up menu and displays

NO CALLS.

Local Area Code

The telephone uses the programmed area code to determine the number format to display when a valid Caller ID signal is received. It is also used for the Dialback feature.


2. Press the 5 button until LOCAL AREA CODE:_ _ _ appears in the display.

3. To enter or change the area code, press the options button. The display shows the area code stored in memory. The left-most digit, or a minus sign (-) flashes, indicating the unit is ready to accept the area code entry.

4. Use the touch-tone pad to enter your 3-digit area code.

NOTE: If you make a mistake, you can simply repeat the previous steps until your area code is set.

5. Press options to store the area code and return to the LOCAL AREA CODE display.

Regional Area Codes for 10-Digit Dialing

Like the Local Area Code, the telephone uses the programmed area codes to determine the number format to display when a valid Caller ID signal is received. Calls that match any of the programmed regional area codes are displayed as 10 digits. This is helpful in areas that have multiple or overlapping area codes and require 10-digit dialing.


2. Press the 5 button until REGIONAL AC’S-1: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ shows in the display.

3. To enter or change the area code, press the options button. The display shows the area code stored in memory. The left-most digit, or minus sign

(-), flashes, indicating the unit is ready to accept the area code entry.

4. Use the touch-tone pad to enter your 3-digit area code.

5. Press the options button again to enter the next three-digit regional area code and repeat step 4 until all the REGIONAL AC’S-1 (RAC#1) and

REGIONAL AC’S-2 (RAC#1) are entered. A total of 6 sets of Regional Area

Codes may be entered.

6. Press the options button to store the setting and return to the REGIONAL

AREA CODE display.

7. Press dial to exit.

CID Language

This setting allows you to display Caller ID display prompt messages in

English, French or Spanish.


2. Press the 5 button until CID LANGUAGE appears in the display.

3. Press the options button to show the current language setting. The default is English.

4. Press the 5 or 6 button to change the language.

5. Press options to store the language and return to the CID LANGUAGE display.

Select Contrast

This adjustment allows you to adjust the contrast of the display.

1. Press the options button until SET 5 OR 6 appears.

2. Press the 5 button until SELECT CONTRAST appears in the display.

3. Press the options button to show the current contrast setting. There are 5 levels of contrast, with the default set to 3.

4. To decrease the contrast, press 6. To increase the contrast, press 5.

5. Press the options button to store the contrast setting and return to the

SELECT CONTRAST display.

T/P Dial Mode

This adjustment allows you to select tone (touch-tone) or pulse (rotary) dialing.

1. Press the options button until SET 5 OR 6 appears.

2. Press the 5 button until T/P DIAL MODE appears in the display.

3. Press the options button to show the current dial mode. The default is set to tone.

4. To change the dialing mode, press the 5 or 6 button. The display will alternate between the two dialing modes.

5. Press the options button to store the dialing mode and return to the T/P

DIAL MODE display.

Exit Setup

To exit the setup mode, select the EXIT SETUP menu and press the options button.

REMINDER: The time and date is programmed automatically when the first Caller ID record is successfully received after the unit is setup.

Telephone Basics

Adjusting the Volume

You may control the listening level with the VOLUME switch, which has three levels.

It remains at the last level set until you change it.

Redialing a Number

If you want to call the last number you dialed again (up to 32 digits), use the redial feature.

1. Pick up the handset.

2. Press the redial button.

3. The last number called is automatically redialed.

Using One Touch Redial

If the last call you dialed was busy, you can redial it immediately by just pressing the redial button and without hanging up the handset.

Caller ID (CID)

IMPORTANT: In order to use this unit’s Caller ID features, you must subscribe to either the standard Name/Number Caller

ID Service or Call Waiting Caller ID Service. To know who is calling while you are on the phone, you must subscribe to Call

Waiting Caller ID Service.

This unit receives and displays information transmitted by your local phone company. This information can include the phone number, date, and time; or the name, phone number, date, and time.

Receiving CID Records

When you receive a call, the Caller ID information is transmitted between the first and second ring. The Caller ID information appears on the display while the phone rings, giving you a chance to monitor the information and decide whether or not to answer the call.

Storing CID Records (In CID Memory)

If you are not at home or cannot answer, your telephone’s Caller ID memory stores the data for the 50 most recent calls you received so you can see who called while you were unavailable. When the 51st call is received, the oldest

Caller ID record (1st call) is automatically deleted.

You may review the stored information at any time. Calls received since your last review show as NEW in the display. .

Reviewing CID Records

• Press either the 5 or 6 down button to view the newest call record.

• Press the 6 button to scroll through the call records from the most recent to the oldest.

• Press the 5 button to scroll through the call records from the oldest to the newest.

• When all of the messages have been viewed, START/END appears in the display.

Deleting CID Records

• To delete the record showing in the display, press the delete button once.

• To delete all records while reviewing, press and hold the delete button until ERASE ALL? shows in the display then press the delete button again to confirm.

Dialing Back

When reviewing Caller ID records, you may dialback the phone numbers shown on the display by pressing the dial button.

If you programmed your local area code in the setup menu

1. Use the 5 and 6 buttons to scroll to the number you want to dial.

• If you see a number with 7 digits (i.e. 555-1234), then the call was received from within your area code. However, this does not guarantee the call is a local call.

• If you see a number with 11 digits (i.e. 1-234-555-1234), then the call received was not from your area code.

2. Press the dial button and the display shows PICKUP or ADJ. A 10 second timer also starts in the upper right side of the display, letting you know the time remaining until the unit returns to the display. If you adjust the number to be dialed, the timer automatically resets itself.

3. To adjust the phone number, press the dial button. For instance, a 7-digit local number sometimes cannot be dialed because it requires a 10-digit or 11-digit format. Press the dial button repeatedly to scroll through the 7,

10, and 11-digit numbers.

3-digit area code + 7-digit telephone number (i.e.

425-555-5555) long distance code 1 + 3-digit area code + 7-digit telephone number (i.e. 1-425-555-5555)

4. To dial the displayed number, pick up the handset before the timer reaches 0. NOW DIALING shows in the display and the number is dialed.

If you did not program your local area code in the setup menu

1. Use the 5 and 6 buttons to display the number you want to dial. You will only see 10-digit numbers (i.e. 234-555-1234).

2. See steps 2 through 4 in the above section to complete the dialback sequence.

NOTE: IF PICKUP PHONE shows on the display, no other changes to the number can be made. The information sent from the telephone company is known to be a valid number to dial back (available only in limited areas). Once you pickup the phone, the number is automatically dialed.

Memory

Before you store a telephone number in memory, make sure the dialing mode is correctly set for the type of service you have. The default dialing mode is tone (touch-tone), so if you have pulse (rotary) service, you must first change the dialing mode. See “To Set the Dial Mode.”

Storing Frequently Called Numbers

3. Push the desired memory location button. (0-9)


5. Use the handset number keys to enter the telephone number (up to 16digits) and press the store button.

6. Hang up the handset.

NOTE: If you make a mistake, use the delete button to delete wrong digits.

Changing a Stored Number

Repeat the storage sequence above. The new number replaces the old number at the memory location.

Erasing a Stored Number



3. Press the memory location (0-9) to be erased.

4. Press delete for three seconds until the number in the display is erased.

5. Hang up the handset.

Dialing Frequently Called Numbers

1. Pick up the handset and press the mem button.

2. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The number dials automatically.

OR

1. Pick up the handset and press the dial button.

2. Press the 5 or 6 buttons for the desired memory location.

3. Press the dial button to dial the number.

OR

1. Press dial button while the handset is still in the cradle.

2. Press the 5 or 6 buttons for the desired memory location, lift the handset and the number dials automatically.

Reviewing Numbers Stored in Memory

1. Press the mem button.

2. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The number shows on the display.

Copy Caller ID Memory to User Memory

1. Pickup the handset.

2. Press the 5 or 6 buttons to display the number you want to copy.


4. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The display flashes if the memory location is occupied.

5. Press the store button twice to replace the new information with the old, or press the 5 or 6 buttons to select an empty location. The number is automatically stored.

6. Press the flash button or hook switch to exit.

NOTE: It is important that you format CID records correctly

BEFORE storing in internal memory as you cannot reformat

CID records stored in memory.

3. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The display flashes if the memory location is occupied. Press the 5 or 6 buttons to select a different location. The display flashes if the memory location is occupied.

4. Press the store button again to confirm.

5. Press the redial button, and then press the store button again.

6. Press the flash button or the hook switch to exit.

Storing a Pause in Memory

The redial button has dual functionality. It becomes a pause button if the store button is pressed first. It is valid only when storing a number into memory. Use the redial button to insert a pause when a delay is needed in an automatic dialing sequence. For example, when you must dial a 9 to get an outside line, or when you enter codes to access your long distance company.

You may need to adjust the length of the pause. It can be adjusted from 1 to

9 seconds. The default setting is 4 seconds.



3. Press the redial button.

4. Press 1-9 (1 = 1 second, 2 = 2 seconds, etc.)

5. Press store again.

6. Press the flash button or the hook switch to exit.

Chain Dialing

This process allows you to dial a succession of stored numbers from separate memory locations. This is useful when you must dial several sequences of numbers, such as with frequent calls via a telephone company long distance provider.

2. Press mem button, then press number “6” for the memory location.

3. When you hear the access tone, press the mem button, and then press “7”.

4. At the next access tone, press the mem button and then “8”.

5. The number dials automatically.

Using Flash

This feature is used to activate customer calling services available through your local phone company, such as Call Waiting. These services generally require an extra monthly fee. If you subscribe to any of these services, please refer to the phone company’s instructions on how to use flash.

To answer an incoming call while having a conversation:

• After you hear the Call Waiting tone, press and release the flash button.

The first call is placed on hold while the second call can be answered.

To return to your first call and put the second call on hold:

• Press and release the flash button again. The first call can continue while the second call is put on hold.

Using Temporary Tone Dialing

If you have pulse service, you can temporarily change from pulse to tone service. After dialing the telephone number, press and release the *TONE button on the telephone. This allows access to phone services that require a tone, such as banking and long-distance services. After you hang up the handset, the telephone automatically returns to pulse service.

Caller ID Display Messages

The following special messages indicate the status of a message or the unit:

NO CALLS The caller memory is empty.

UNKNOWN CALLER Indicates incoming call is from an area not serviced by

NAME/NUMBER CID or the CID information was not sent.

Battery power level is low. Please replace the batteries as soon as possible in order to maintain Caller ID operation.

BLOCKED CALL

START/END

The incoming caller is registered as “Private Number” and Caller

ID information is withheld.

You are at the beginning or the end of the Caller ID memory log.

CALL WAITING If you subscribe to Call Waiting Caller ID Service, this icon flashes when you receive a call while you are on the phone.

Troubleshooting Tips

No dial tone.

• Check all cabling to make sure that all connections are secure and not damaged.

• Check the hook switch: Does it fully extend when handset is lifted from cradle?

No display

• Replace batteries.

• Make sure the batteries are properly installed.

No information is shown after the phone rings

• In order to receive Caller ID records, you must subscribe to the standard name and number Caller ID service available through your local telephone company.

• Be sure to wait until the second ring before answering.

Phone does not ring

• Make sure ringer switch is set to HI.

• You may have too many extension phones on your line. Unplug some extension phones.

• Check for a dial tone. If there is no dial tone see solutions for “No dial tone.”

Other party cannot hear you

• Make sure phone cord is securely plugged in.

• Make sure extension phones are on the hook at the same time you’re using the phone. It is normal for the volume to drop when additional extension phones are used at the same time.

Cannot dial out

• Make sure the T/P dialing mode is set to the type of phone service you are subscribed to.

If trouble is experienced with this equipment, for repair or warranty information, please contact customer service at 1-800-448-0329. If the equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that you disconnect the equipment until the problem is resolved.

Limited Warranty

What your warranty covers:

• Defects in materials or workmanship.

For how long after your purchase:

(The warranty period for rental units begins with the first rental or 45 days from date of shipment to the rental firm, whichever comes first.)

What we will do:

• Provide you with a new or, at our option, a refurbished unit. The exchange unit is under warranty for the remainder of the original product’s warranty period.

How you get service:

• Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the product. We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.

• ”Proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice which is evidence that the product is within the warranty period, must be presented to obtain warranty service.”

El equipo de su teléfono esta aprobado para la conexión con la red Telefónica Pública (Public

Switched Telephone Network) y cumple con los requisitos establecidos en las secciones 15 y 68 de las Reglas y Regulaciones de la FCC y con los Requerimientos Técnicos para Equipos de Terminales Telefónicas (Technical Requirements for Telephone Terminal Equipment), publicado por ACTA.

1 Notificación a la Compañía Telefónica Local

En la parte de abajo de este equipo hay una etiqueta que indica, entre otra información, el número de US y el Número de Equivalencia de Timbres (REN) para este equipo. Usted debe, cuando sea requerido, proveer esta información a su compañía telefónica.

2 Derechos de la Compañía Telefónica

En caso que la compañía no pudiera avisarle de antemano y hubiera necesidad de tomar tal acción, la compañía telefónica podrá interrumpir su servicio inmediatemente. En caso de tal interrupción telefónica temporal la compañía debe : (1) darle aviso al momento de tal interrupción temporal de servico, (2) concederle a Ud. la oportunidad de corregir la situación, (3) informarle a Ud. de sus derechos de presentar una questa a la Comisión de acuerdo con los procedimientos dictados en la

Su teléfono con Identificador de Llamadas usa 4 baterías alcalinas tamaño AA para recibir y almacenar archivos del Identificador de Llamadas y para mantener los números que usted utiliza para marcar por memoria.

Para Conectar el Cable de Línea Telefónica

1. Conecte el cable espiral dentro del enchufe en el auricular.

2. Conecte el cable largo liso dentro del enchufe telefónico modular de pared.

3. Coloque el selector del timbre (RINGER) de la base en la posición “HI”

= HI - Es el sonido más fuerte

= LOW - El sonido será más bajo

= OFF - El teléfono no timbrará

4. Coloque el auricular sobre la base.

NOTA: El aparato está instalado adecuadamente si usted levanta el auricular y escucha el tono de marcar. De otra manera, repita los pasos de la instalación.

Montaje Sobre Pared

Su teléfono puede ser montado en una placa de pared (no incluida).

NOTA: Para evitar que el auricular se caiga de la base mientras está colgado sobre la pared, usted debe girar el gancho para colgar (localizado en la base).

1. Empuje el gancho del auricular hacia arriba y hacia afuera con su dedo pulgar, voltéelo y vuelva a ponerlo dentro de la ranura en la base.

2. Alimente el cable de línea liso a través de las ranuras y enhebre el cable en la pieza provista para ello en la parte de abajo de la base.

3. Alimente el cable en la ranura que está en la pieza del lado opuesto a donde está enhebrado, y conecte el extremo en el enchufe modular telefónico.

4. Deslice los agujeros para montaje en la base (en la parte de debajo de la base) por encima de los postecitos de pared y deslice firmemente el aparato hacia abajo hasta que entre en su sitio.

Programación del Menú del Identificador de

Llamadas

IMPORTANTE: No conecte el teléfono en el enchufe de pared mientras se programa el menú del Identificador de Llamadas porque una llamada entrante podría invalidar la programación que no hubiese sido salvada hasta ese momento.

1. Oprima el botón options. La indicación de programación SET 5 OR 6 aparece en la pantalla.

2. Oprima el botónes las flechas hacia arriba o hacia abajo para recorrer las 7 pantallas de menú, que son:

• SET 5 OR 6 (MENU DE PROGRAMACIÓN)

• LOCAL AREA CODE (CLAVE DE AREA LOCAL , preprogramado - - -)

• REGIONAL AC’S-1 (CLAVE DE AREA REGIONAL, preprogramado - - - - - - - - -)

• CID LANGUAGE (IDIOMA, preprogramado inglés)

• SELECT CONTRAST (CONTRASTE, preprogramado 3)

• T/P DIAL MODE (MODALIDAD PARA MARCAR T/P, preprogramado tono)

• EXIT SETUP (PARA SALIR DE PROGRAMACIÓN)

NOTA: Usted puede oprima botón dial en cualquier momento para salir del menú de programación del identificador (“Caller ID

Setup”).

Si no se oprime ningún botón dentro de los siguientes 10 segundos, el teléfono sale automáticamente del menú de programación del identificador (“Caller ID Setup”) y regresa a la pantalla indicando NINGUNA LLAMADA.

Clave de Área Local

El teléfono utiliza la clave de área programada para determinar cuál formato de número debe mostrarse cuando una señal válida del Identificador de Llamadas es recibida. También se utiliza para la función de Volver a Marcar (Dialback).

1. Oprima el botón option. La indicación de programación SET 5 OR 6 aparece en la pantalla.

2. Oprima el botón 5 hasta que la indicación de clave de área local

LOCAL AREA CODE:_ _ _ aparezca en la pantalla.

3. Para inscribir o cambiar la clave de área, oprima el botón para opciones. La pantalla muestra la clave de área almacenada en la memoria. El dígito del extremo izquierdo o un signo de resta (-) parpadea, indicando que el aparato está listo para aceptar la inscripción de la clave de área.

4. Use el teclado numérico para ingresar su código de área de 3 dígitos.

NOTA: Si usted comete un error, simplemente repita los pasos previos hasta que su clave de área esté programada.

5. Oprima el botón de opciones para almacenar la clave de área y regrese al menú de clave de área local LOCAL AREA CODE.

Clave de Área Regional para Marcado de 10 Dígitos

Igual que con la Clave de Área Local, el teléfono utiliza las claves de área programadas para determinar el formato del número que debe mostrarse cuando entra una señal válida del Identificador de Llamadas. Las llamadas cuyas claves de área regional sean iguales que las claves de área programadas, se muestran en un formato de 10 dígitos. Esta programación es especialmente útil en regiones que tienen múltiples códigos regionales o locales que requieren 10 dígitos para ser marcados.


2. Oprima el botón 5 hasta que la indicación de clave de área regional

REGIONAL AC’S-1: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ aparezca en la pantalla.

3. Para inscribir o cambiar la clave de área, oprima el botón para opciones. La pantalla muestra la clave de área almacenada en la memoria. El dígito del extremo izquierdo o un signo de resta (-) parpadea, indicando que el aparato está listo para aceptar la inscripción de la clave de área.

4. Use el teclado numérico para ingresar su código de área de 3 dígitos.

5. Oprima nuevamente el botón options para inscribir la siguiente clave de área regional de tres dígitos y repita el paso 4 hasta que todos los dígitos para su clave de área regional (REGIONAL AC’S-1 (RAC#1) ) y (REGIONAL AC’S-2 (RAC#1)

) estén inscritos. Un total de 6 juegos de Claves de Área Regionales pueden ser inscritos.

Idioma en la Pantalla del Identificador de Llamadas

(CID)

Este ajuste le permite que usted exhiba mensajes del aviso del Identificador de

Llamadas en inglés, francés, o españo.


2. Oprima el botón 5 hasta que la indicación de idioma (“CID LANGUAGE”) aparezca en la pantalla.

3. Oprima el botón options para mostrar la programación de idioma actual. El idioma programado de fábrica es inglés.

4. Oprima el botón 5 OR 6 para cambiar el idioma.

5. Oprima el botón options para almacenar la programación y regresar a la pantalla de idioma (CID LANGUAGE).

Para Seleccionar el Contraste

Este ajuste le permite ajustar el contraste de la pantalla.

1. Oprima el botón options hasta que la indicación de programación

SET 5 OR 6 aparezca en la pantalla.

2. Oprima el botón 5 hasta que la indicación de contraste de la pantalla (SELECT

CONTRAST) aparezca en la pantalla .

3. Oprima el botón options para mostrar la programación de contraste actual.

Hay 5 niveles de contraste y el nivel 3 es el nivel programado de fábrica.

4. Para disminuir el contraste, oprima el botón 6. Para aumentar el contraste, oprima el botón 5.

5. Oprima el botón options para almacenar la programación y regresar al menú de contraste (SELECT CONTRAST).

Modalidad para Marcar por Tono/Pulso

Este ajuste le permite seleccionar la modalidad para marcar por tono (tone) o por pulso (rotatorio).

1. Oprima el botón options hasta que la indicación de programación

SET 5 OR 6 aparezca en la pantalla.

2. Oprima el botón 5 hasta que la indicación de modalidad para marcar ( T/P

DIAL MODE) aparezca en la pantalla.

3. Oprima el botón options para mostrar la modalidad para marcar actual. La modalidad programada de fábrica es tono.

4. Para cambiar la modalidad para marcar, oprima los botones 5 o 6. La pantalla alternará entre las dos modalidades.

5. Oprima el botón options para almacenar la programación y regresar al menú de modalidad para marcar (T/P DIAL MODE).

Para Salir de Programación

Para salir de la modalidad de programación, seleccione el menú EXIT SETUP y oprima el botón option.

RECUERDE: La hora y fecha se programan automáticamente cuando el primer archivo del Identificador de Llamadas se recibe exitosamente después de que el aparato ha sido programado.

Operaciones Básicas del Teléfono

Para Ajustar el Volumen

Usted puede controlar el nivel de volumen con el selector (“VOLUME”), que tiene tres niveles. Permanece en el último nivel que usted haya escogido hasta que sea cambiado.

Para Volver a Marcar un Número

Si usted quiere marcar nuevamente el último número que fue marcado, (hasta 32 dígitos), utilice la función para volver a marcar.

1. Levante el auricular.

2. Oprima el botón redial.

3. El último número que haya sido marcado se vuelve a marcar automáticamente.

Para Usar la Función de Marcado en un Toque

Si el último número al que usted llamó está ocupado, usted puede inmediatamente volver a marcarlo oprimiendo el botón redial sin haber colgado el auricular.

Identificador de Llamadas (Caller ID/CID)

IMPORTANTE: Para utilizar las características de la identificación de llamador de esta unidad, usted debe suscribirse ya sea al

Servicio Estándar de Identificador de Llamadas de Nombre/

Número, o al Servicio de Identificador de Llamada en Espera

(Caller ID with Call Waiting). Para saber quién llama mientras usted está en el teléfono, usted debe suscribirse al Servicio de

Identificador de Llamada en Espera (Caller ID with Call Waiting).

Este aparato recibe y muestra información transmitida por su compañía telefónica local. La información puede incluir el número telefónico, fecha y hora; o el nombre, número telefónico, fecha y hora. Cada auricular puede guardar en memoria hasta 50 llamadas para ser revisadas después.

Recibir Archivos del Identificador de Llamadas

Cuando usted recibe una llamada, la información es transmitida entre el primero y el segundo timbre. La información del Identificador de Llamadas aparece en la pantalla mientras el teléfono timbra, dándole a usted la oportunidad de ver la información y decidir si quiere o no contestar la llamadal.

Almacenar Archivos del Identificador de Llamadas (en la Memoria de CID)

Si usted no está en casa o no puede contestar, la memoria del Identificador de Llamadas de su teléfono automáticamente almacena la información de las 50 últimas llamadas para que sepa quién llamó mientras usted no estuvo disponible. Cuando la llamada número 51 es recibida, el último archivo del

Identificador de Llamadas (la primera llamada) se borra automáticamente.

Usted puede revisar la información almacenada en cualquier momento. Las llamadas recibidas desde la última revisión, se mostrarán NUEVA en la pantalla.

Para Revisar los Archivos del Identificador (CID)

• Oprima los botones 5 o 6 para ver el archivo de llamadas más nuevo.

• Oprima el botón 6 para recorrer los archivos de llamadas desde el más reciente hasta el más viejo.

• Oprima el botón 5 para recorrer los archivos de llamadas desde el más viejo hasta el más reciente.

• Cuando todos los archivos han sido revisados, la indicación COMIENZO/

FINAL aparece en la pantalla.

Para Borrar Archivos del Identificador (CID)

• Para borrar el archivo que se muestra en la pantalla, oprima y suelte el botón para borrar una vez.

• Para borrar todos los archivos mientras los revisa, oprima y sostenga el botón delete hasta que la indicación BORRAR TODO? aparezca en la pantalla entonces oprima el botón delete otra vez para confirmar.

Para Volver a Marcar

Cuando esté revisando los archivos del Identificador de Llamadas (Caller

ID), usted puede volver a marcar el número que se muestra en la pantalla, oprimiendo el botón dial.

Si usted Programó su Clave de Area en el Menú de

Programación

1. Oprima los botones 5 o 6 para mostrar el número que usted quiera marcar.

• Si usted ve un número de 7 dígitos (por ejemplo, 555-1234), entonces esa llamada fue recibida desde su misma clave de área. Sin embargo, esto no garantiza que la llamada sea local.

• Si usted ve un número de 11 dígitos (por ejemplo, 1-234-555-1234), entonces esa llamada no fue recibida desde su misma clave de área.

2. Oprima el botón dial y la pantalla muestra la indicación LEVANTE o AJUSTE.

Un temporizador empieza a contar el tiempo en la esquina superior derecha de la pantalla, para hacerle saber el tiempo que falta antes de que la pantalla vuelva a la Pantalla Sumario. Si usted ajusta el número que será marcado, el temporizador vuelva a ajustarse solo, automáticamente.

3. Para ajustar el formato del número telefónico, oprima el botón dial. Por ejemplo, un número local de 7 dígitos algunas veces no puede marcarse porque requiere un formato de 10 dígitos o de 11 dígitos. Oprima repetidamente el botón dial para recorrer los números de 7, 10 y 11 dígitos.

7-dígitos: número telefónico de 7 dígitos (por ejemplo, 555-5555).

10-dígitos: clave de área de 3 dígitos + el número telefónico de 7 dígitos (por ejemplo 425-555-5555).

11-dígitos: clave de larga distancia 1 + clave de área de 3 dígitos + el número telefónico de 7 dígitos (por ejemplo 1-425-555-5555).

4. Para marcar el número mostrado levante el auricular antes de que el temporizador llegue a 0. La indicación DISCANDO AHORA aparece en la pantalla y el número se marca.

Si usted No Programó su Clave de Area en el Menú de Programación

1. Utilice los botones 5 o 6 para mostrar el número que usted quiera marcar.

Usted únicamente verá números de 10 dígitos, (234-555-1234).

2. Vea los pasos del 2 al 4 en la sección anterior para completar el proceso de volver a llamar.

NOTA: Si la indicación LEVANTE TELEFON aparece en la pantalla, no se puede hacer ningún otro cambio al número. La información enviada desde su compañía telefónica es un número válido para volverse a marcar (disponible únicamente en áreas limitadas.

Una vez que usted levanta el teléfono, el número se marca automáticamente.

Memoria

Antes de almacenar cualquier número telefónico en la memoria, asegúrese que la modalidad para marcar esté correctamente programada para el tipo de servicio que usted tiene. 1. Oprima el botón mem.

NOTA: Es importante que usted formatee los registros CID correctamente ANTES de almacenar en memoria interna ya que usted no puede reformatear registros CID almacenados en memoria.

Para Almacenar una Pausa en la Memoria

El botón redial tiene una función doble. Se convierte en un botón de pausa cuando el botón para almacenar se oprime primero. Es válido únicamente cuando se almacena un número en la memoria. Utilice el botón redial para introducir una pausa cuando un retraso es necesario en la secuencia demarcado

. Por ejemplo, cuando usted tiene que marcar un 9 para obtener línea externa, o cuando usted inscribe un código para tener acceso a su compañía de larga distancia.

Usted puede necesitar ajustar la duración de la pausa. Puede ser ajustada de 1 a

9 segundos. La programación de fábrica es de 4 segundos.

Marcado en Cadena

Este proceso le permite marcar una sucesión de números almacenados en localizaciones de memorias diferentes. Esta función es útil cuando usted debe llamar varias secuencias de números, como llamadas frecuentes a través de su proveedor de larga distancia.

2. Oprima el botón mem y después oprima el “6” para la localización de memoria.

Cuando usted escuche el tono de acceso, oprima el botón mem y después oprima el “7”.

5. El número se marca automáticamente.

Para Usar el Botón de Servicios (FLASH)

Este botón se utiliza para activar servicios especiales que le son disponibles a través de su compañía telefónica local, como Llamada en Espera. Estos servicios generalmente requieren una tarifa mensual adicional. Si usted se suscribe a cualquiera de estos servicios, por favor refiérase a los manuales de instrucciones de la compañía telefónica para informarse sobre cómo funciona el botón flash.

Para contestar una llamada entrante durante una conversación telefónica:

• Después de que usted escucha el tono de Llamada en Espera, oprima y suelte el botón flash. La primera llamada se pone en espera para que usted pueda contestar la segunda llamada.

Para regresar a la llamada original y poner la segunda llamada en espera:

Para Utilizar la Modalidad de Marcado por Tono

Temporal

Si usted tiene servicio para marcar por pulso, usted puede cambiar temporalmente su servicio de pulso a tono. Después de marcar el número telefónico, oprima y suelte el botón de tono en el aparato. Esta función les permite a los usuarios de servicio telefónico de Pulso (rotatorio), tener acceso a los servicios para marcar de teclado (touch-tone) como los servicios bancarios o de larga distancia. Después de que usted cuelga el auricular, el teléfono regresa automáticamente al servicio rotatorio.

Mensajes del Identificador de Llamadas

Los siguientes mensajes especiales indican el estado actual de un mensaje o del aparato:

NINGUNA LLAMADA La memoria de llamadas está vacía.

NOM DESCONOCIDO/ La llamada entrante viene de un área en donde el servicio

DESCONOCIDO del Identificador de Llamadas (Caller ID) no está

NUM DESCONOCIDO disponible, o la información no fue enviada.

La corriente de la batería está baja. Por favor cambie la batería tan pronto como le sea posible para poder mantener intacta la operación del Identificador de Llamadas.

LLAMADA PRIVADA La persona haciendo la llamada entrante está registrada como Número Privado y sus datos de Identificador de

Llamadas no serán revelados.

COMIENZO/FINAL Usted está al principio o al final del registro del registro de memoria del Identificada de Llamadas.

CALL WAITING

Si usted está suscrito al servicio de Identificador de Llamada en Espera, este símbolo parpadea cuando usted recibe una llamada mientras está en el teléfono.

Solución de Problemas

No hay tono de marcar

• Verifique el cableado para asegurarse de que las conexiones están conectadas adecuadamente y no están dañadas.
