Your Optimus 6 1 /

-Inch 3-Way Flush

Mount Speaker System is designed to provide clean sound and superb performance. Each speaker’s 6 1 /

2

-inch woofer,

2-inch midrange, and 1-inch tweeter combine to give you superb sound across the entire audio spectrum. You can mount your speakers on any solid flat surface using the supplied hardware. To get the best sound from your speakers, please read this entire manual carefully for the proper wiring and mounting procedures.

We recommend that you temporarily wire the speakers to your sound system before you mount them, so you can test the speakers and wire connections.

WIRING THE SPEAKERS

All Radio Shack auto sound systems come with eight color-coded speaker wires. This chart shows Radio Shack's standard color codes.

Speaker Terminal

Left Rear

Left Front

Right Rear

Right Front

Wire Color

Green (+)/Green-Black (–)

White (+)/White-Black (–)

Violet (+)/Violet-Black (–)

Gray (+)/Gray-Black (–)

For each speaker wire, match the negative conductor (with the black stripe) to the negative (–) speaker terminal to ensure proper phasing (+ to + and – to –). (Improper phasing causes poor bass response.)

Note: Other auto sound systems’ wires might not use the same color codes. If your auto sound system is other than a

Radio Shack brand, check its owner's manual for the speaker wire color codes.

Connect the stereo's speaker wires to the speakers, using the color code in the chart as a guide. Then turn on your stereo to be sure that you connected the speakers properly.

Caution: Do not connect any speaker wires to chassis ground. Use all of the specified wires to connect the speakers to your vehicle's auto sound system.

If your auto sound system has a front-torear fader, connect your speakers as follows.

MOUNTING THE

SPEAKERS

The surface should be sturdy enough to support the weight of the speakers.

2. Using the supplied template, cut two speaker holes.

3. Drill three 5 /

32

-inch holes for each speaker's mounting screws, and another for each speaker’s wire.

4. Route the speaker wire from your auto sound system, through the mounting surface to the speaker location, and connect it to the speaker (see “Wiring the Speakers”).

Caution: Avoid areas where the wires will be pinched or stepped on.

5. Cover each drilled hole with one of the supplied nut plates.

6. Remove the cover from each speaker to expose the mounting holes.

7. Insert each speaker into its mounting location, then align each speaker’s mounting holes with the drilled holes.

8. Thread one of the supplied screws through each hole and tighten it.

9. Firmly press the cover onto each speaker.

1. Select a flat area (such as your car's rear deck) for the mounting surface.
