Bontrager Light Recall 2016
Ascend queries allow you to quickly locate lights which may be affected (both in your inventory and sold to
customers). If a customer's light is affected, provide them with a coupon for use on Trek products. Submit a
warranty claim for all affected lights. Periodically send a list of coupons redeemed.

All replacement requests require a Dexter warranty claim. Do not submit Ascend reports on affected
products to your Customer Service Representative.

System Setup
In order to properly report on replacements and coupon redemptions, the appropriate codes require configuration in
your system.
Sherpa Tip: Print labels to keep at all cash registers.
Replacement Part Tracking
To begin, select the View menu (from the Ascend Desktop) > Products. On the upper toolbar, click Add to configure
the information below.

Bontrager Coupon Setup
To begin, select the View menu (from the Ascend Desktop) > Payment Types.
Then, click Coupon in the upper pane to display all coupons configured in your system. On the lower toolbar, click
Add to configure the information below.

Customer Notification
Save the Bontrager Light Recall 2016: Affected Customers query to your computer (e.g. the Windows® Desktop).
Run and export the query (click for details on this process), then contact customers to bring in their light for
inspection. If a customer's light is affected, enter a claim on Dexter and provide them with a coupon for Trek
products. (optional) Create a work order to track inspections.
Sherpa Tip: Enter file name Bontrager Light Recall Customers to Contact.
Multi-Store Retailers: This report must be run separately for each location.
Affected Inventory
Save the Bontrager Light Recall 2016: Affected Inventory query to your computer (e.g. the Windows® Desktop). Run
and export the query (click for details on this process), then remove the light from the floor for
inspection. (optional) Create a work order to track inspections.
Sherpa Tip: Enter file name Bontrager Light Recall Affected Inventory.
Multi-Store Retailers: This report must be run separately for each location.
Transactions for Replacements
Enter a warranty claim on Dexter. Make note of the Claim Number. Create a work order for the customer (or the
store as a customer, if the bike is in your inventory). In Work Order Details, enter or select the Serial Number and
Description for the affected bike, scan or enter the Bontrager Light Recall Replacement SKU, and enter the Dexter
Claim Number in Comments.
Provide the customer with a recall coupon.

Coupon Redemption
Click the Coupon payment type and scan the barcode into the Code field (or select the coupon from the
Description field) - the appropriate value is automatically entered. Enter the Trek part number for the affected light
in the in the Transaction Comments, then finish the transaction as normal.
Coupon & Replacement Statistics
In order to receive reimbursement for coupons redeemed, you must send your Customer Service Representative
statistics on their use. If desired, report on replacements performed in order to track labor credits.
Coupon Reimbursements
Periodically run and export the Coupon Use History report (located in the Payments section) for your desired date
range. Select the Bontrager Light Recall Coupon. Email this file to your Customer Service Representative.
Sherpa Tip: At the beginning of every month, run the report for the previous month. Enter file name Bontrager
Light Recall Reimbursements - <Shop Name> - <Account Number> (e.g. Bontrager Light Recall Reimbursements - Bikes
N Bytes - 123456). Be sure to include both your shop name and Trek account number so that your claim can
be processed as quickly as possible.
Multi-Store Retailers: This report must be run separately for each location.
Replacements Performed
(optional) Periodically run the Customer Marketing online report (located in the Customers section) for your
desired date range (click for details on this process). Select the Products.StoreUPC search criterion and enter
the Bontrager Light Recall Replacement tracking SKU.
Sherpa Tip: At the beginning of every month, run the report for the previous month. Enter file name Bontrager
Light Recall Replacements.
Multi-Store Retailers: This report can be run for each location or all locations.
