Accessories Various interchangeable reflectors, brollies, honeycomb grids, barndoors, tubes/snoots, stands/tripods, etc. Attention! It is imperative that any accessories with plastic bayonet (Minilite 200 line) must not be used together with Profi- lite Compact 300 units! Assembly This unit is fitted with a 5/8” Rapid adap- tor and locking screw. This fitting is com- patible with all stands with a 5/8" spigot. Stands without this spigot needs a MA 119 adaptor. After loosening the clamp (15) with the handgrip (11), the apparatus can be swivelled upwards and down- wards. To secure the lamp again, the clamping lever (15) is turned to the right. Mains connection The units are normally set inthe works to run on 220-240 V 50-60 Hz, but can be delivered for operation from networks with 110-130 V 50-60Hz. Before con- necting for the first time, make sure that your mains supply and the rating set on the equipment (Electrical Specification Plate [22]) are compatible. Switching on the unit Insert the plug in the socket (24) and connect the other end to the power 4 supply. Switch on by means ofthe switch O-| (9). After about 2-3 sec., the green LED will light up, indicating that the unit is ready for operation. Switching on the modelling light Once switch (9) has been operated, it is possible to switch on the halogen lamp by means of the switch (8). The bright- ness of the lamp remains proportional to the chosen flash power setting. Stepless power regulation By means of the revolving knob (10), the output can be reduced from 100% to 15% (4 F-Stop variation). The flash and halogen sources always remain propor- tional to each other. Modelling light —- 100% With the aid of the switch (7), the model- ling light can be changed over from the usual proportional mode - and inde- pendent of the position of the control knob (10) — to constant 100% output. Visual confirmation of flash triggering Once a flash unit has been triggered, the halogen lamp will extinguish briefly. In a multiple set-up, it is thus easy to check that each lamp has fired. Switch (6) in position: = Visual confirmation switched on Switch (6) in position: A= Visual confirmation switched off, i.e., the halogen lamp will burn without interrup- tion. Thermal safety The Profilite Compact 300 is cooled by a strong fan. Also fitted is a thermostat which switches off the halogen lamp in the event of overheating. Although the flash tube can be triggered, it is wise to wait until the halogen lamp switches it- self on again since, in this manner, the entire unit cools down more quickly. Synchronization Insert sync cable in the jack (4) of the control panel and connect up to the X contact of the camera. In a multiple- flash set-up, it is only necessary to syn- chronize one head with the camera, since the other units may be triggered via the integrated slave unit (1). This slave unit has its own On-Off switch (5). Changing reflectors All reflectors are attached by means of a standard bayonet mount. Insert the reflector in the bayonet mount (16) and turn clockwise until it locks. Umbrellas can only be fitted by using the special umbrella reflector COMSCH. The um- brella holder is integral to this reflector. Changing a flash tube or halogen lamp Caution: Always disconnect the unit from the mains socket first! Remove the reflector or softbox. Push the two ten- sion-bars (20) inwards to free them from the two retaining screws. Now carefully remove glass dome. Pull the halogen lamp (19) forwards and replace it with a new one. Read the manufacturer's in- structions carefully and avoid touching the glass with bare fingers! Pull out flash tube (18) to the front and replace with new tube. ATTENTION: Make sure the flashtube is properly en- gaged in the metal trigger-fork (25). After changing flashtube/mod. lamp refit glass dome (17) and secure by refitting the two tension bars under theyre retain- ing screws. Fuses Fuseholder (23) needs to be securely pushed down. The fuse (23B) is asso- ciated with the halogen lamp, and the fuse (23 A) is intended for the lash tube. The Amp. rating depends on the mains voltage in question. For exact values, see table 1. Should a fuse blow, replace it only with the right type as stated. A set of spare fuses is included with every new unit. Maintenance An annual check in our works is recom- mended in those cases where equip- ment is subjected to continuous, heavy use. If a lamp is not used for about 4 weeks, it should be connected to the mains network for 3 hours in order to form the capacitors. Use only switch (9) to switch on.
