●
Also run the OnSite Validation tool while in the office, print and attach to the Service Call Order
●
Review both and note any plot issues and any red indications. Also note at the bottom of the OVT report recommended fix actions. This becomes your baseline for repair
●
Pre Service Call Audit
Once at the customer’s site inspect the dish and cable for possible damage or defects
1.
Walk the cable run looking for damage or extreme bends in the cable (exceeding 45 degrees)
2.
Check all connectors for damage, tightness and water intrusion
3.
Next, check the mount to ensure all bolts are installed and tight. A loose mount will cause unstable transmit and receive
4.
Next, complete a push pull test on the dish to ensure it is tightly connected to the mount
5.
If there is a possible Line of Sight issue use you angle finder to ensure proper clearance. You should have at least
10 degrees clearance if the obstruction is a tree or bush (non fixed). If it is a building 5 degrees will be fine
6.
Check the power applied to the modem, ensure that the modem lights are on. If not you will need to test the voltage at wall, use a voltmeter or plug another device into the current wall socket
7.
If the modem is enclosed you need to verify that it has enough clearance within the housing to dissipate heat. See modem installation for proper clearance
8.
Using the notes area below this section, enter any issues you have found. Run OVT if you did a repair. Failure of
OVT (red values) requires further investigation.

Approved Tri Mast Mount for 0.74m Antenna
Type A or C uses support leg eyelet with 4-hole mounting bracket plate
This drawing shows a type A trimast, but it applies to both type A and C
● Trusses or rafters must be spaced from 16 inches to 24 inches apart on center.
● The roof surface must consist of relatively thin, resilient materials, such as asphalt or composite shingles, sheet metal, or similar materials, over wood sheathing with a thickness that must not exceed
¾ inch.
● A satellite antenna cannot be installed on slate roofs or Spanish tile roofing made of clay or other brittle materials.
● The roof pitch (also called slope) must be between 3:12 and 12:12.
● Center hole lag screws must be centered in the truss or rafter.
● The wood-frame roof interior must be unfinished so that placement of lag screws can be verified and the roof reinforced if necessary.
● The minimum size for roof truss members is 2 inches × 4 inches.
Roof rafters must be nominal 2× material (such as 2 inches × 4 inches or 2 inch ×. 6 inch)
● Large timber roofs with frequent spacing of members are also permitted. These are constructed of wood members larger than the nominal 2× sizes, and include post and beam structures with members from 4 inches × 4 inches and larger. The members cannot be spaced more than 24 inches on center. Their physical properties must match or exceed those of Spruce-Pine-Fir No. 2

Determine the Centers of Trusses and Rafters
Use a Stud finder as a primary method for determining where the center of the roof trusses and rafters.
Alternative method requiring attic access:
● Lift a shingle and drive a nail vertically through the roof beneath the shingle such that the nail projects above and below the roof at least ¼ inch
● Measure from the nail to the rafter within the attic
● Transfer this measurement onto the roof to locate the rafter and its center.
Ideally this measurement should be accurate to within 1/16 inch.
● After installing the lag screws, check inside the attic to make sure each screw did not miss the rafter of split out the side of the rafter (even partially)
● Do not leave the nail protruding on the shingled side of the roof
