To announce the availability of a retrofit to the single-filter element on some airplanes with the TKS
Ice Protection System.
DESCRIPTION
This service bulletin transmits CAV Aerospace Service Letter SL 13120-20-30-001, Cessna 208B Caravan
TKS Ice Protection System Single Filter Installation, which provides parts and instructions to change the five-filter element in the TKS Ice Protection System to a single-filter element.
COMPLIANCE
OPTIONAL. This service bulletin can be accomplished at the discretion of the owner.
APPROVAL
Cessna received FAA approval for the technical data in this publication that changes the airplane type design.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Prepare the airplane for maintenance as follows:
A.
Electrically ground the airplane.
B.
Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position.
C.
Disconnect electrical power from the airplane.
(1) Disconnect external electrical power.
(2) Disconnect the airplane battery.
D.
Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT
CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them.
2.
Do the Propeller Flow And Port Pressure Test in accordance with the Model 208 Maintenance Manual,
Chapter 30, TKS Propeller Flow and Test Port Pressure - Adjustment/Test.
3.
Get access to the TKS fluid tank as follows: (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 30,
TKS Anti-Ice Fluid Tank Components - Maintenance Practices.)
A.
Open the aft-center cargo pod door to get access to the fluid tank and aft bulkhead.
B.
Remove the screw and the nut that attach the bonding jumper to the bulkhead.
C.
Turn the quarter-turn fasteners that attach the aft bulkhead to the drip pan and the cargo pod.
NOTE: On airplanes that have the TAS antenna installed, it is necessary to disconnect the coaxial cable and remove the screws and conduit.
D.
Remove the aft bulkhead from the cargo pod.
4.
Accomplish CAV Aerospace Service Letter SL 13120-20-30-001, Cessna 208B Caravan TKS Ice
Protection System Single Filter Installation.
NOTE: You can disconnect the TKS line at the fuselage belly fitting/test port when you accomplish Steps
3D and 3E of the CAV Aerospace Service Letter SL 13120-20-30-001. Refer to the Model 208
Maintenance Manual, Chapter 30, TKS Propeller Flow and Test Port Pressure - Adjustment/Test for the location of the test port.
5.
Do the Propeller Flow And Port Pressure Test in accordance with the Model 208 Maintenance Manual,
Chapter 30, TKS Propeller Flow and Test Port Pressure - Adjustment/Test.
6.
Install the Items that you removed to get access to the TKS fluid tank as follows: (Refer to the Model 208
Maintenance Manual, Chapter 30, TKS Anti-Ice Fluid Tank Components - Maintenance Practices.)
A.
Put the aft bulkhead in position in the cargo pod.
B.
Turn the quarter-turn fasteners that attach the aft bulkhead to the drip pan and the cargo pod.
C.
Install the screw and nut that attach the bonding jumper to the bulkhead.
D.
Make sure that there is a good electrical bond at the bonding jumper. (Refer to the Model 208
Maintenance Manual, Chapter 20, Electrical Bonding - Maintenance Practices.)
E.
On airplanes that have the TAS antenna installed, install the screws and connect the antenna coaxial cable and conduit.
F.
Close the cargo pod doors.
7.
Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery.
8.
Make an entry in the airplane logbook stating this service bulletin has been installed.
