HOW DO YOU BRING THE

OUTSIDE INSIDE?

Space and light is the ultimate luxury inside any vehicle. It creates more freedom, greater control and a stronger connection with the environment around you. By increasing the quarter light windows and reducing the width of the

A pillars that frame the front section of the new Jazz, over 10% more light can now flood through the cabin. Pronounced lines flow from the roof to the bonnet accentuating the shape of the curved exterior and tapered rear roof with bee sting aerial. The increased wheelbase length provides both driver and passengers with more cabin space.

Whilst the shortened nose and compact rear-end allows it to maintain an incredibly tight turning circle and also opens up even the smallest parking spaces.

Long snaking country lanes, uneven tracks, slippery road surfaces and fast flowing motorways. Whatever environment you find yourself in, the new Jazz is designed to respond. The high torsion body rigidity and low centre of gravity ensure you’re placed firmly on the road. The agile performance is complimented by the sweeping contours of the front and rear bumpers, an impressive grille and twin-crease bonnet. A new design, which enhances all-round vision, improves aerodynamics and increases the balance between both ends for greater stability.

Other features include flared wheel arches, new LED rear lights and large headlights that throw powerful beams ahead and make your presence clear to those behind. Wherever you go, whatever you do, the Jazz is ready for anything.



HOW DO YOU ENGINEER SPONTANEITY?

It’s the unexpected things that make life exciting. So our engineers focussed much of their time on making sure the Jazz can respond and adapt to whatever life throws at it. Within seconds it can be anything from a one-seater, in maximum cargo carrying mode, to a five seater.

The rear Magic Seats not only have a 60/40 split, they also fold upward to reveal another huge storage space that’s ideal for kerbside loading.

For even more flexibility, the doors open in three moves from 35 to 80 degrees, making access and loading easier whatever the cargo.

Expecting the unexpected. It’s all part of the Jazz philosophy.

MORE THOUGHT GOES IN

SO MORE OF EVERYTHING ELSE CAN TOO.

Sometimes a large boot just isn’t enough. What if you need to store smaller, more delicate items, or even dirty ones? Our engineers wanted to create a solution for every storage problem. That’s why they invented an innovative two-tier boot that can be configured in four different ways. For those really light and small items a cargo net and hooks keep everything safe, separate and easily within reach. With the seats up the Jazz offers up to 448 litres of space within the boot area. With the seats down, the

Jazz interior opens up to give you even more possibilities. It’s the reason we added a wide opening tailgate, to make loading and unloading easier than ever and allow you to make the most of every area of available space.



THE MAGIC TOUCH.

One second it’s a row of comfortably contoured rear seats. The next it’s a huge storage space big enough for a mountain bike. This is design flexibility at its purest, or as we call it; Magic Seats. With one simple pull, the lightweight Magic Seats flip up and lock into place. You can have one seat up and two down, two up and one down, or all three folded down.

It gives you a huge amount of flexibility.

So if tight parking restricts access or heavy items need storing - one simple movement is all it takes. Magic.

LET THE JOURNEY UNFOLD.

With this amount of flexibility the new Jazz can be whatever you want it to be. The unique Honda design allows a lever, operated one-handed from inside the cabin, to fold the rear seats flat in one motion with the headrests still in place. Apart from the ease and convenience, it provides an alternative loading area when parking restricts the tailgate from opening fully.

For really long items the front passenger seat can fully recline meaning the Jazz can accommodate items as long as 2.4 metres. The Jazz interior is developed to bend, lift and slide into whichever shape you want. All you have to do is fold away the bits you don’t need.


HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL

WHEN YOU’RE DRIVING?

At Honda, we understand that how you feel has a big impact on how you drive. That’s why every single aspect of the Jazz interior has been intrinsically thought about, to give you the most comfortable and relaxed driving environment. Highly supportive trimmed seats deliver a high level of comfort while still allowing you to ‘feel the road’ beneath you. The front seats benefit from lumbar supports with an articulated shape that matches spinal curvature and protects the torso and pelvis. In the back, three adults can travel with all the head, leg and shoulder room they need. Comfort is also increased with a height adjustable driver’s seat and clever ideas including a two tiered refrigerated glove compartment, additional cup holder behind the gear lever, and storage trays for both the driver and front passenger. If this wasn’t enough, blue stitched seat fabric adds a little touch of luxury to the intelligent interior. All designed so you can sit, relax, travel and explore in complete comfort.

Why shouldn’t you see more of your journey? The high specification

Jazz has a newly designed windscreen and a panoramic roof, which opens up the road and the sky allowing your surroundings to be taken in at a glance. This means that, along with your sense of wellbeing, safety is greatly improved. Vast amounts of extra light and a feeling of greater space bring the outdoors right inside the vehicle. Just reach up to the roof-mounted controller and the sunblind will open to the exact position required.

Fully opened, the panoramic roof exposes almost the entire cabin to the elements, so passengers can also enjoy a real sense of the journey. When rear passengers aren’t on board, their headrests can be nestled down to increase visibility behind. So you can see the whole world, from any angle.



FEEL GOOD INSIDE.

Driving pleasure is about more than just performance; it’s about the whole driver environment. In the Jazz you’ll find an innovative ‘layered concept’ dash, finished in metallic, it features a sporty trim steering wheel with radio/CD audio controls mounted conveniently on the left. On the right are controls for the multi-information display, allowing you to cycle through screens carrying information such as mileage, speed, alarm, service reminders and outside temperature.

REDUCE FUEL AND EMISSIONS,

NOT PERFORMANCE.

With a fuel injected 1.2 or 1.4 litre i-VTEC petrol engine to choose from, the Jazz delivers great driveability and an advanced level of performance. This innovative Honda engine technology combines adjustable camshaft timing and changeable valve lift, timing and duration to deliver a combination of improved performance, better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

Especially designed for compactness, both engines help to increase cabin space and save weight while also delivering a punchy performance. To handle this level of performance, ventilated front disc brakes are fitted to the front and solid disc brakes at the rear.

For increased responsiveness, superb handling and agility, the Jazz also has Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). And whatever the road conditions, the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) helps smooth the way. The Jazz performs on every single level.

HOW DO YOU MAKE A SMALL

CAR BIG ON SAFETY?

Safety has always been important to Honda, which is why the

Jazz is designed with safety at its heart. Using Advanced

Compatibility Engineering (ACE), it’s built round a survival cell constructed of 42% high tensile steel. Incredibly strong, it disperses crash energy across the body frame and away from the dash and interior, boosting protection to those inside by a massive 20%. Front and rear crumple zones provide additional protection and greatly reduce harm to pedestrians, which is why the new Jazz retains its impressive 3 star pedestrian rating.

Advanced sensors work to constantly monitor the grip of the

Jazz. If they sense a problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) will engage. To correct any concerning manoeuvres, it will automatically reduce engine power or add the right amount of braking to the wheels to maintain control. Depending on the situation, this could be all four wheels, or just the inner or outer wheels. It’s safety technology that works with the road ahead.

That’s forward thinking.

In the event of a collision from behind, the active front headrests automatically move forward keeping the head secure, reducing the effects of whiplash and absorbing any shockwaves. The 3-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts have pre-tensioners and internal structures to securely protect the body of all passengers.

Collisions can come from any angle, that’s why the Jazz has airbags fitted all round the cabin. Dual Supplemental Restraints

System (SRS) side airbags run down the entire length of the interior giving increased protection. The Jazz is also fitted with an intelligent

SRS button allowing the driver to disengage the front passenger airbag when carrying children. In addition, ISOFix child seat anchors are provided on the rear passenger seats to give added protection for your family and extra peace of mind for you.

Maximum towing weights are based on the ability of the car, with two occupants of 75kg each, to restart on a 12% gradient at sea level. At altitudes in excess of 1500 metres, engine output may drop with a reduction in towing capability. Extra weight, such as additional passengers or luggage, should also be deducted from the maximum towing weight.

Hondacare Roadside Assistance Program

In addition to the standard warranty terms of your Jazz, we are pleased to include a customer service package “The Hondacare Roadside Assistance Program” is designed to ease the discomfort and inconvenience of a breakdown in the unlikely event of it’s occurence.

The assistance program is issued with our compliments and covers all new Hondas sold and registered in the Republic of Ireland by Universal Honda for a period of 36 months.

Service and Warranty

Our commitment to give you the best continues with your maintenance, repair and warranty needs. Your dealer will be pleased to explain the areas which our standard warranty covers, namely;

1. A 3 year limited to 100,000 kilometres mechanical warranty covers your Jazz against any defects in materials or workmanship.

2. A 3 year surface corrosion warranty guarantees the paintwork of your Jazz against defects in materials or workmanship.

3. A 6 year structural corrosion warranty covers the body panels and structural parts of your car against perforation caused by corrosion from the inside out

(excluding the exhaust system).

Active Headrests

Jazz’s front seats incorporate innovative active head restraints that help minimise the potential for neck injury from rear-end collisions. In this type of collision, the occupant’s body will be pushed against the seatback. The pressure to the seatback is then transmitted mechanically from the lumbar plate via links that push the head restraint upward and forward to reduce the gap between the occupant’s head and seat head restraint. This lessens impact forces on the head, neck and spine, helping reduce whiplash injuries.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering

(ACE)

Jazz has been designed with an innovative frame structure engineered to reduce the concentrated frontal force on occupants in front end impacts. Jazz’s Advanced Compatibility

Engineering (ACE) design disperses and absorbs crash energy over a larger area enhancing the preservation of the cabin space, improving safety for all occupants. Additionally, ACE also helps to reduce misalignment with vehicles of different sizes; the design of Jazz’s structure reduces impact forces acting upon other vehicles.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics refers to the ability of a car to overcome the resistance or ‘drag’ generated by its body as it moves through the atmosphere. The lower the Coefficient of Drag (Cd) the more aerodynamic the shape. An aerodynamic shape is more fuel efficient, quieter and keeps the car firmly on the road. The Cd value multiplied by the cross section area of the car is the wind drag of the car.


ABS prevents the wheels from locking when the brakes are applied in an emergency, reducing the possibility of a skid on wet, icy or loose surfaces, and enabling the driver to retain steering control.

CO

2

Carbon dioxide is one of the exhaust gases believed to be one of the causes of the Green

House Effect. The lower the CO

2 emissions, the better for the environment.


(EBD)

This works in tandem with ABS analysing weight distribution around the car and automatically adjusting the braking force applied to front and rear wheels to help maintain directional stability.

Electric Power Steering (EPS)

An electric motor assists steering instead of hydraulics. Runs off the battery, not engine, so helps to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the applied science of designing a working environment, in this case the car’s cabin, in order to maximise the occupants’ comfort and safety. In simple terms, that means locating major controls and instruments in a way that makes them easy and comfortable to use and to see, like Jazz’s dashboard mounted gearshift and steering wheel mounted controls. This is extended to seating which minimises driver fatigue and discomfort.

Grade Logic

An intelligent system built into our

6-speed automatic manual transmissions (6AMT).

When the Jazz is in fully automatic mode, Grade

Logic recognises different driving styles and road conditions, then selects the optimum gear ratio for smooth, seamless driving, particularly over hilly routes and corners.

Hill Start Assist System

This prevents roll back whilst changing from accelerator to brake pedal on hills. As well as improving extra grip on hill climbs, the Hill Start Assist System provides extra confidence for the driver.

i-Shift

Intelligent Shift is Honda’s automated control of the car’s clutch. Different to an automatic in that i-Shift does not have a torque converter; it has the same clutch and 6-speed manual gearbox as other cars, but the gear changes can be selected automatically when in auto mode or manually using steering wheel mounted paddle shifts or the sequential shift lever.

ISOFix Child Seat Restraints

ISOFix is a feature which is fast becoming part of the standard equipment installed in new cars. The aim of this standard is to avoid incorrect fitting of universal child seats when installed in cars, thus reducing the risk of injury in the event of a collision. The Jazz has two

ISOFix anchorage points – the two outer rear seats.

i-VTEC

The combination of VTEC and VTC for improved engine performance, fuel economy and emissions.

Occupant Position Detection System

(OPDS)

This utilises sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or adult of small-stature is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it.

Torque

Torque is a twisting or rotational force. For example, when you use a spanner to tighten a bolt, you are actually applying torque to turn the bolt.

The further out you hold the spanner, the more torque you apply. Low rev torque is the ability of an engine to develop strong response (rotational force), and hence, acceleration from lower revs and speeds. As speed rises, torque becomes less important than power for maintaining high speeds.


VSA helps keep the Jazz on course in adverse driving conditions by detecting and correcting potential understeer or oversteer. The system continually monitors vehicle speed, throttle position, individual wheel speeds, steering angle, lateral G-force, and yaw rate to detect when oversteer or understeer is imminent. When necessary, VSA automatically reduces the engine’s torque and uses the ABS system to apply brakes to each wheel, as needed, to help stabilise the vehicle. The response is so quick that the instability may be corrected before the driver even knows it’s occurring.

VTC (Variable Timing Control)

Changes the timing angle of the intake side camshaft relative to the crankshaft as engine speed and load change. This way the cylinder filling with air/fuel mixture is optimised for improved torque and performance, with 90% of torque available at just

3,000 rpm.

VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift

Electronic Control)

Varies the amount of valve lift and the duration of valve opening during the intake stroke of each engine cylinder. The effect is optimised combustion over changing engine speeds with the result of reduced fuel consumption and emissions as well as increased engine performance.
