The reduced crop layer thickness allows for smooth, even feeding and chopping. New Holland engineers used extensive laboratory tests and theoretical studies to precisely place components for the most streamlined crop flow.

Sharp knives ensure clean, precise cutting needed to achieve maximum capacity with less power and fuel consumption. New Holland makes it easy to keep knives sharp with the redesigned Adjust-O-Matic™ system. You control the system right from the operator’s seat. The new stone door opens hydraulically while a hydraulic motor moves the sharpening stone. Every FR has standard reverse sharpening. From the cab, the operator can run the cutterhead backwards during sharpening. By doing this, a precise edge can be put on every knife.

Patented Variflow™ accelerator

The new, extra-wide Variflow™ system achieves the strongest blowing force in any crop—from light and dry to heavy and sticky. When you choose to process in corn, the accelerator moves up allowing room for the crop processor to move into the crop flow. When you switch to a grass crop, and the processor must be removed, the accelerator is positioned lower, closer to the cutterhead. This position reduces crop turbulence which reduces the risk of blockages and plugging. A large horsepower savings results when the accelerator is in the lower position for haylage.

The crop gets to the accelerator sooner, reducing the power needed to expel it from the machine.

Uniform kernel processing

The optional FR9000 crop processor helps you increase your cattle’s production with corn silage that’s higher in effective fiber and easier for cattle to digest. Ten-inch-diameter rolls are 30 inches wide to thoroughly process corn kernels while chopping.

The 10 inch rolls provide more surface area for the crop to be processed than prior models. A sawtooth pattern on the rolls provides aggressive processing to virtually guarantee that all the kernels are cracked while the chromed surface provides long life in abrasive conditions. A digital readout in the cab allows you to adjust the rolls to perfectly control processing quality. Rolls are available in 99-tooth or 126-tooth configuration.

The 99-tooth rolls are designed for longer lengths of cut while 126 teeth perform better when cutting lengths below ½ inch.

As the load increases, the engine rpm drops into its working range of 2000 to 1800 rpm. When the engine is in this range, a 25% torque rise occurs, giving you more power for chopping. This rise in power happens quickly, keeping chopping components running at high speed while the FR9000 Series powers through the toughest crops.
